4/30/20 Notes on the Pandemic of 2020

Yes I am compiling a Blog about the great pandemic of 2020 and how my country stupidly shut down the economy.  We will have opinions, political and cultural highlights, my personal experience, social media details, even TV reviews since I watch so much TV while in my home jail.  We shall, as always, end with a smile.

MISC. PANDEMIC NOTES OF THE WEEK
(an update for my descendants)

4/29/20

As the date indicates it is almost the end of April.  In a few days it shall be be May and thus far Americans has been trapped in their homes for over 45 days.  There is an end in sight but no view of life ever getting back to where it used to be.

For we used to go to baseball games.  We attended movies and ate lunch and dinner at favored restaurants.  Every day we'd get up, attend to morning chores and plan our errands for the day.

Now, no more.  Yes I can go to a grocery store but goodness yesterday I went to Walmart and it was like being a living chess piece.

First, you can only go in one door that they may count how many are in the store.  Those who rule us, the Governors and congress which does not meet for their job, have determined that only 50% of human capacity will be allowed in stores to allow for something called "social distance".  So somebody at the Walmart counts the people going in and out.  Then, once inside there was some kind of ribbon wrapped all around the store, like a crime scene tape, to guide the hapless shopper around those parts selling food only.

Some of our rulers in varied states have determined, in their holy wisdom and crowns upon their heads, that stores can only sell food.  I must assume that Walmart, being located in many states, set up these tape things that we dare not, WE DARE NOT I TELL YOU, buy paint even if sold in the same store.

As of this writing this is not the case in my home state of Delaware so even with crime scene tape wrapped all around there were places in my Walmart's tape that one could walk through.  I bought a pillow and an electronic aroma device and nobody arrested me.

Then all the aisles were marked either "This way" or "that way" and shoppers were confused, including me, sometimes stopping in the middle of the aisles and letting out loud sobs.

At any rate, our rulers are telling us how to live, what to buy and when, and guess what?  We must now all wear masks here in Delaware.  Our ruler has so decided.

I hope, should my descendants be reading this, that this wonderful country never does this again, shutting down the economy and appointing ruling classes that command what we wear, buy and eat.-----------------------------
MAJOR POLITICAL EVENT OF THE WEEK
(another update)

Oh my goodness, our current president, Trump, has been giving a news conference every day, informing us of any updates and issues that need addressing.

He brings along some "experts" and add these experts to the politicos and Governors that dictate how we should live.

So President Trump, who so far is doing a pretty good job of handling this mess although he often gets little help from the politicos , including the Republican politicos who are supposed to be on his side.

upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/c/...President Trump has his habits, I say to my descendants.  One of them is to kind of "think out loud".  I don't mean this as a criticism but we got a lot of dumb people in this country who, I dunno, maybe haven't been around people with personality quirks that they learn to understand.

So Trump addresses one of his beloved experts about disinfectants, including the world famous Lysol. and ultra-violet light.  Because while the Covid-19 is beginning to go its merry way, the search is on for a vaccine to keep it from coming back.

Trump begins his thinking out loud, conducting a semi-private conversation with one of his experts about using ultra-violet light inside of the body to kill the virus.  The expert says it's being worked on so Trump goes on to liquid disinfectants and he muses that perhaps we could have such a disinfectant to swallow that will kill the nasty virus in our very lungs.

Somehow the news people took this self-reflection of the president (which, hey, was a bit awkward.  Trump should stop his self-reminisce in front of the entire world) to mean perhaps we should shove ultra-violet lights somewhere inside of us and maybe drink some Lysol?

Of course the president never said such a thing and, indeed, his "expert" nodded that some sort of disinfectant inside of us is certainly possible.

The wail went out.  "PRESIDENT TRUMP WANTS US TO DRINK LYSOL" the papers and pundits shouted.

Here's the upshot of all of this:   anybody who thinks the President of the United States told his citizens to drink Lysol is too dumb to be giving themselves any kind of medicine.

MAJOR CULTURE EVENT OF THE WEEK
(one more update)

Kim Jong-un - Simple English Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

I'm not sure that someday in the future my descendants will even know who this Kim Jung-Un is.  In fact, I'm even hoping that there will be no North Korea when my descendants come to be.  If God is in his heaven, all of Korea will be one country instead of being dictated to by some fat little nothing-burger with the worst haircut in the world.

Currently North Korea is controlled by Red China, in the form of Kim-Jung-Un and prior by some other Kim-Jung-(something).  Red China, by the way, source of this Covid-19 that almost destroyed America, doesn't want humans to be free to pursue their own happiness.  China wants its citizens to pursue the happiness of its leaders, much like many of our own politicos grew to love the new power placed upon them.

At any rate, Kim-Jung was rumored to be dead.  Actually, as of this writing, he's still rumored to be dead although, ahem, it is said that he is very much alive.

I doubt my descendants, as they read my missives, will care very much about this creep, or even North Korea.  But it is the big culture story of the week.

If he died from Covid-19 trust that China will never admit it.

PERSONAL NOTES FROM ME RE THE PANDEMIC
(that my descendants may know how I handled it)

I am supposed to get a check, as is most of America, for $1,200.  As of this writing I have not received.

Yes, America did come up with a plan to give most of its citizens a certain amount of money per individual, for each child, loans for small businesses.....money, money, money everywhere.

But the IRS delayed filing of 2020 income taxes until July 15 and these refunds are, I think, based on income tax returns.  My brother-in-law does my income taxes and he is, like everyone else, delayed for being locked up and having employees struggling to work from home.  Thus my 2019 annual income tax return has not been filed so maybe that's the delay.

Or maybe it's not a delay.  Nobody really knows.

Bureaucracies.....more un-elected people having power over us all.

OVER THE INTERNET
(social media explains so much)

Below from a Facebook post:

Today marks at least 4 weeks of isolation. Been running 2.5 miles a day, drinking 2 gallons of water, cut out ALL meat, sugar, dairy and flour. I feel great! Zero alcohol, a healthy vegan diet, gluten free, caffeine free, sugar free and a 30 minute home workout each day.

Cleaned out all the closets and garage and finished half the home projects on our list!!!

I have no idea whose post this is, but I am really proud of them so I decided to copy & paste!

Facebook ....heh.  ordinary people with the funniest senses of humor.

REVIEWS TV SHOWS
(since I watch so much TV, not for my descendants)

Reasonable Doubt

First, should my descendants still know me when reading this, they would know that I am a true crime buff.  And, what with watching TV on every channel known to man and some I even paid for, I came upon the ID "Investigation Discovery" channel, filled with true crime type of programs, most of them repeats off of other channels.  "Discovery" and "48 Hours" would be an example of this.

However ID DOES have some original shows and one of my favorite airs on Tuesday at 10 pm.  "Reasonable Doubt" is a true crime type of show that appeals to me.

First, during this pandemic it seems a lot of the politicos and rulers think that letting people out of jail is a good idea.  THIS show too has a basis of letting people out of jail but only after proving that the ones needing to be let out should never have been in jail to begin with.

First, let me establish that I think a way vast majority of people in jail really do belong there.  America, for all of its quirks and quivers, has a very good justice system and mostly does not desire to put innocent people in jail.  This means, mostly, that the truly guilty parties are free and allowed to commit their crimes.  Of late there have been a few groups that sprung up with an endeavor to free "innocent" people unfairly jailed.

This show features one such a group.  A few people joined together to review claims that this guy or that girl is in jail unfairly.  The viewer gets to watch as those who make this assertion are interviewed for the reasons they think their loved one, neighbor or friend is wrongly in jail.  Members of this group then investigate their claims of innocence.

One of the most frequent reasons of those reporting people unfairly jailed is that the law enforcement investigating the original crime refused to look beyond their loved one.  This, in fact, in the few times I've watched the show, is untrue.  The "investigator" will talk to the sheriff or detective who investigated the original crime and discover that plenty of other suspects were looked into.  The viewer will learn that they all had alibis and couldn't have committed the crimes in question.

This investigation into those claimed to be in jail while innocent continues, with more assertions.  They might claim that the alleged perp was too weak to lift the dead body.  The investigators will find someone of same size and shape and set up a copy of the dead body disposal.  Either the proxy can lift the body so assertion is not true, or proxy cannot lift the body so assertion is true.

As of this writing, and after watching a few, none of those declared in jail while innocent has been proved correct.

It's an interesting show and holds my interest the whole time.

Prodigal Son

Prodigal Son' review: New serial killer drama fails to shine

This show airs on Fox, Mondays at 9 pm.

I do not like this show.

The premise of the show is that Malcolm Bright is the son of a famous serial killer , Martin Whitley.  There's a background between these two.  When Malcolm was a young boy he was the one of identified his father as the serial killer he was.

Martin Whitley also has a daughter, who is in the series, and an ex-wife, who also starred as the First Lady on Scandal.

Malcolm Bright is a consultant in the show for the NYPD.  Thus there is always some crime for Bright to help find in that position.

The show also features a lot of interaction of characters which I find very confusing and boring.  First, the serial killer Martin Whitley, annoys the hell out of me.  He's a freaking former serial killer that has to be tied with an iron rope on a wall to receive visitors.  He killed 23 women back when he was active.

Bellamy Young is a boring character and so is Malcolm's sister.

If my father were a serial killer I'd stop having anything to do with the man.  Yet this show features the weird dynamics of an alcoholic mother, a sister who is a reporter, and Malcolm, who was fired from the FBI.

These dynamics are not even remotely interesting although, on occasion, the active case being investigated by Malcolm for the NYPD is interesting.

I hope this show is off the air so my descendants do not have to endure.
