MISC. PANDEMIC NOTES OF THE WEEK
(an update for my descendants)
Another Cop Shooting in Atlanta
Here's the shorter version of the story. His name is Rayshard Brooks, he was 27 years old. On June 13, Rayshard had a little too much to drink. He was so inebriated that as he waited in his car in the pick up line at Wendy's in Atlanta, Georgia he fell asleep. Horns honked but Brooks' car remained stationary. The police were called.
Two police came and awoke the sleeping Brooks. For about 45 minutes everything went smooth. The cops, of course, noticed that Brooks was not really capable of functioning, much less being able to safely drive a car in his condition. The two cops spent some 45 minutes trying to talk Brooks into getting out of his car so he could be cuffed for driving in such a drunken state. The cops even managed to give Brooks a sobriety test.
As the cops reached in to boost Brooks out of the car to cuff him and eventually with a hope to move his car so others waiting behind can pick up their orders from Wendy's., Brooks grabbed the taser gun from one of the cops and took off running. The two cops chased Brooks down. At one point, Brooks turned around, pointed the taser gun at one of the police officers and on the video it looks like he fired a taser shot at him. If nothing else, Brooks pointed the gun back at the cops who were chasing him but when Brooks turned around and pointed the taser gun at the other cop, one police officer pulled out his revolver and shot Brooks two times in the back, killing him.
So here we have another case of what some might call bad cop behavior although that is very arguable.
Had the guy not grabbed the taser gun the cops might have left him run off. They had, after all, the guy's car. He was bound to show up sooner or later. But some might call the taser gun a dangerous weapon and the cop who shot Brooks was justified.
However, the cop doing the shooting was immediately fired, and Atlanta's Police Chief resigned.
Of course there is rioting and anger and all sorts of misbehaviors which will not save Brooks' life or bring him back.
Frankly I don't think shooting a drunk guy two times in the back made a lot of sense in that situation, even if the perp had a taser gun. Taser guns aren't deadly although out there somewhere there are probably some folks who died from the same being used on them. And an argument can be made that Brooks could have used the stolen taser gun to hijack another car because he'd already jumped out of his and left it behind. Thus the cops were justified in killing the guy who might well have been a danger to others.
I don't think those cops thought that for a minute about a potential car hijacking, at least not in the short amount of time this turn of events was happening.
But with the death of George Floyd, also killed unjustly by an arresting cop, shooting a guy in the back just because he has a taser gun was kind of dumb.
So it goes on and frankly yon descendants I have no answer. I cannot stand upon a podium and scream that the cops and/or the perp was treated unfairly.
I don't know the answer just yet yon descendants.
But we need to figure it out so that someday mine descendants are not shot unjustly when such an action was totally not needed.
I argue that killing either Rayshard Brooks or George Floyd was not necessary. And yet it happened and it's time we all take a closer look at the police departments across our fruited plains.

MAJOR POLITICAL EVENT OF THE WEEK
(another update)
Part of Seattle taken over by CHAZ(CHOP)
I don't know, yon descendants, if in your unborn future the new country of CHAZ will exist. It is now to be known at CHOP. The CH in both cases means Capital House. The AZ in the original name stood for "Autonomous Zone". In the CHOP name the OP stands for "organized protest".
Whatever the case yon descendants, they took over about eight blocks in the city of Seattle, Washington, including the police station.
As it stands now yon descendants....well they've been spending a lot of their time deciding on a name.
I pray that we do not have a totally new country existing in the United States when yon descendants are alive.
For now, well it's pitiful and the ANTIFA nut jobs are allowed to get away with it.
Then again, sadly, it's almost laughable.

MAJOR CULTURE EVENT OF THE WEEK
(one more update)
Many cop shows removed from broadcast
Since cops, of late yon descendants, have been in such poor light, TV shows involving cops are being yanked off the air.
There's the show "COPS", a live reality show featuring ...well live cops in action, filmed as it's happening. This show has been on the air for many years and has been very successful. There's another show called "Live PD" that is the same sort of thing, a reality show based on the real daily lives of cops on the job. Finally there is a cartoon show called "Paw Patrol" that might be taken off the air.
And it's not just shows about cops. All of a sudden the famous "Gone With the Wind" is some kind of racist movie and while it hasn't been banned, there will be some kind of forward which will tell us how not to become racists like they were in the south.
I just don't know, yon descendants, how crazy this world is getting. I watch those cop shows once in a while although I tend to find them a bit boring.
I doubt this sudden weirdness will remain and I sure hope that yon descendants will get a chance to see that most wonderful movie "Gone With the Wind."

PERSONAL NOTES FROM ME RE THE PANDEMIC
(that my descendants may know how I handled it)
My favorite soup
It's called "sauerkraut soup" and it's my favorite soup....ever.
Picture below although it's not the stuff of food magazines.
Two important facts. First, I love and adore soup. Of course I don't like every soup on the planet but a hearty broth and some tasty ingredients and I am happy. Second, I love cooking in a slow cooker. It makes life a lot easier and makes everything tender.
Sauerkraut soup is cooked in a slow cooker.
Recipe below:
1 pound smoke
kelbasa, cut into 1-inch pieces
1 can sauerkraut-32
ounces, rinsed and well drained.
4 cups chicken broth
1 can-10-3/4
condenses cream of mushroom, undiluted
1/2 sliced fresh
mushrooms
2 medium carrots,
sliced
2 celery ribs,
sliced
2 tablespoons white
vinegar
2 teaspoons dill
weed
pepper
cooked bacon, couple
slices, crumbled
In a five quart slow
cooker, combine first 12 ingredients. Cover and cook on high for 5-6
hours, or until vegetables are tender
The round things at the top of my picture are the kelbasa, cut into circles. As you can see from the recipe, there are quite a few vegetables included in the soup, included, of course, the sauerkraut...which MUST be drained and rinsed else you will be consuming pure salt.
Now this soup is brothy and, I warn yon descendants, a bit salty.
But how easy to throw all in a slow cooker and after 5-6 hours have a savory soup that makes the lips purse?
And it freezes well too, so make a full container.

(social media explains so much)
Good Things About Those Wearing the Police Badge.
Yes... let’s all join in the hatred of all police for the sins of a few. Let’s defund one of the most important public institutions in our countries history. Let’s have all badges removed and allow people to tend to their own safety and security.
But before you do so, Let me tell you about the badge and the thousands of good men and women it represents.
This badge ran towards certain death as the Towers collapsed on 9-11.
This badge ran into the line of fire to save the people in the Pulse Night Club.
This badge sheltered thousands as bullets rained down from the Mandalay Hotel in Las Vegas.
This badge protected a BLM rally that left five officers dead in Dallas.
This badge ran into the Sandy Hook School to stop a school shooter.
This badge killed the Oregon District mass shooter in seconds.
This badge has done CPR on your drowned child.
This badge has fist fought the wife beater who left his spouse in a coma.
This badge has run into burning buildings to save the occupants.
This badge has been shot for simply existing.
This badge has waded through flood waters to rescue the elderly trapped on the roof.
This badge has intentionally crashed into the wrong way driver to protect innocent motorists.
This badge has helped find the lost child so his mother would stop crying hysterically.
This badge has helped the injured dog off the road and rushed it to the vet.
This badge has escorted the elderly woman across the street because she couldn't see well and was afraid to cross.
This badge has bought food for hungry kids because they had been abandoned.
This badge has been soaked in blood and tears.
This badge has been covered by a mourning band to honor those who have sacrificed everything in service.
You may hate me because I wear it. But, I wear it with pride. Despite your hate and your anger, I will await the next call for help. And, I will come running without hesitation. Just like the thousands of men and women across this great nation.
REVIEWS TV SHOWS
(since I watch so much TV, not for my descendants)
Live Rescue is an American television program on the A&;E Network. It follows live camera crew ride-alongs with fire departments and rescue squads in cities and towns across the country.
I like to watch this show every once in a while and so far it doesn't appear to be destined for removal from our evil eyeballs. However it's not about cops although cops are heavily featured in the program, of course.
As the description reads, it features live handling of personal injury and fires. It can be quite interesting.
Of course there are quite a few features of drunk or drugged people who manage to get into accidents, fall down....there's a lot of that. There's also quite a few close up takes of fires and fire fighters trying to contain same. I don't like the fire stories as I consider them a bit boring after a few minutes.. It's almost as if you've seen one fire you've seen them all.
My favorite part of the series are the animal features. Could be a cat stuck up a tree. Could be a baby deer stuck in a fence. Yes these types of things are part of being an emergency responder and it does capture your attention.
Check it out yon descendants, should it still be on in your era and should it not be removed for anger at cops or fire fighters.
