Delaware-The Little State That Could

Myself spends so much time on national news that the politics of my new home state, while in my peripheral vision, are too often overlooked.
Beginning with the impact of my adopted state’s three great big electoral votes and small size. Husband and I transplanted from Maryland in 6/2003 and after a year, yes, I have an opinion.

We live in Sussex county and we both like it here. The other two counties can be added on to New Jersey for all Sussex county cares and it’s no wonder. Though Delaware is small, it too is divided into distinct red and blue areas.

While husband and I like the pace of the ‘lower and slower’, we were exasperated by the lack of expediency in the area. Perhaps we can’t it all ways, this is time for more astute planners of Sussex county’s to be put in place. Which would not be this current crop of ‘good ole boys’ with Lynn Rogers the King of that group.

The Republican party should be taking a closer look at Sussex county not that they’re going to come running bejeesus down 404E in a heated bid for Delaware’s three electoral votes. I got an email from the Republican party which I’ll post below. There’s something very obvious in the text of this email and I ask readers to figure it out.

It’s all happening up north! Specifically, Wilmington.

I am frankly miffed that Sussex county is treated so shoddily by the Republican party when even the nanny Governor Minner bothered to call us ‘hostile territory’.

As a new Delaware citizen myself I dutifully showed up at the Republican party headquarters in Georgetown. To my dismay I was told that there was scant difference between the Republicans and Democrats in Sussex county and that everyone loved Lynn Rogers.

With chagrin I note that one speaker at the northern Republican bashes is the Lieutenant Governor of my home state, Michael Steele. Husband and I moved to Delaware to get out of that liberal mess and end up in Delaware with a Grandmother for Governor and a plagiarizing showboat for a Senator. I will say this for the Republicans in Georgetown, they despise Joe Biden.

Maryland goes and elects a Republican Governor and his lieutenant is being groomed for future leadership in the GOP.

It’s time for Delaware to hoist the good old boys and Sussex county needs to gather some clout. The exploding populace of Sussex county is conservative, mature and exactly the sorts of citizens a state would cherish. Time to show the north the meaning of power.

Myself was written up in the Delaware Coast Press this past 4th of July. Visit the site below(another Delaware Blogger) to read the article.

I am teaching a course this Fall semester in the Indian River School District.
The class title is “So you want to be a writer? So how do you get published?”
The class is 4 nights at the Georgetown Elementary School, in the library. Two hour classes begin at 7:00 pm through to 9:30 pm, every Wednesday, beginning 10/27 through 11/17/04.

Cost of the course is a mere $35.00 for all four classes. You can sign up and pay online at the link below:

In that same vein, a Delaware writer and founder of the “I Love to Write Day”, John Riddle, has a web site for signing up. “Signing Up” only means that the signer agrees to do something special with writing on I Love to Write Day, this year on November 15,2004. Visit the site I LOVE TO WRITE DAY for more information.

Since my class is so happily close to this day, the class WILL be participating in the event.
