TV This Week: TWO Big Reality Premieres This Week

 Posted by Hello

At times there may be a show actually worth attention.
Sandwiches You Will Like

The show came recommended in my last TV missive. The name is a bit simple and it was a public TV broadcast. But it was a good one, if you like sandwiches, and who doesn’t.

Across America, it seems, there’s specialty sandwiches to be had depending on the locale and the region’s taste. Featured were Philly sandwiches, Vietnamese submarines (I’m not making this up), one notable sandwich which held an entire meal, including French Fries!

Two Big Reality Premieres This Week
Indeed. American Idol begins this Tuesday on Fox at 8pm. The Apprentice, the most copied reality show on TV, premieres with a new slate of candidates on Thursday, NBC, @ 8:30 pm.

Since I’m an avid fan of these shows, there will be weekly updates, opinions, brickbats and acerbic wit on the candidates, the judges and, of course, regular mockery of Donald Trump’s hairstyle. Tune in as yon fans are also invited to weigh in with your own comments.

Forthwith:
On Monday, 1/17, @9 pm, The Learning Channel has a show called “America’s Ugliest Kitchen”. It’s a contest, folks, and winning might be considered by some to be a dubious honor. Although myself once had a kitchen that could be a real contender.
Big TV Event of the Week
On Tuesday, 1/18. @8 pm, Fox premieres American Idol. Pay attention to this Blog, which will critique and predict the winners.

On Weds, something I never miss, at 10 pm, ETV will present the Golden Globes Fashion Police. Well, they may have an opinion but so does Grandmother. Look for a critique of Golden Globe fashions and appropriate pics on this award/fashion event.

Another Big TV Event of the Week
On Thursday, 1/20, @ 8:30 pm, NBC will be offering a new premiere of The Apprentice. They have yet to pick a woman, folks. Grandmother is going to watch this with comments and opinions on a weekly basis.

Sounds Quirky Enough to be Worth a Look

On Saturday, 1/22, Food Network is featuring two hours devoted to great diners. Perhaps it’s an age thing, but in my day diners were the way to go for the best breakfast and home-cooked meals. Tinged with a large amount of grease, naturally. At 8pm, Emiril will be cooking something called “diner classics”, whatever on earth that could mean. Stay tuned, because at 9 pm, FoodTv will have another diner special called, simply, “Great Diners”.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Finally, on Sunday, 1/23, @ 9pm, NBC will be showing “Bridgett Jones Diary. Might be a good view for a cold winter night.
Make your own Gourmet sandwich and use a little of this "Vinaigrette" on it! It makes a great as salad dressing. I also use it in "Italian Pasta Salad".
VINAIGRETTE FOR SANDWICHES AND SALADS *****
1 Tablespoon red wine vinegar
½ teaspoon Dijon mustard
½ teaspoon Kosher salt
3 Tablespoons olive oil
Procedure:
Whisk together until ingredients emulsify.
This is good as Italian salad dressing substitute.
You can add other ingredients to taste if desired:
minced or chopped :
green peppers
red onions
olives (black or calamita)
tomatoes
lightly sauteed garlic
nuts
scallions
