Daily Update 8/24/05

Today
Daily Update:

Able-Danger looks more and more real every day. If so, it's the biggest boondoggle and coverup of our era.

The Fly on the Wall pays a visit to the meeting where the entire 9-11 commission coverup began.

The fly overhears Jamie Gorelick, Hillary Clinton, Bill Clinton, Sandy Berger, Paul Begalia and Ben Veniste as the plot and scheme how to protect Bill Clinton's tarnished legacy.

The surprise is who the entire coverup was REALLY meant to protect.

It happens every year and every year I must document the phenomenon. In this Bird post we discuss those thumb-sized warriors, the hummingbirds, and their insane quest to dominate every feeder on the eco-system.

Able-Danger-the Denial Contines
This time it's at the Pentagon.

Which denies having any documentation about Able-Danger or any documentation in which Able-Danger identifies Mohhamed Atta before 9-11-01 as a possible terrorist.

And yet today another military officer comes forward, this time an active naval officer named Officer Phillpott. He too claims to have been a participant of the clandestine operation Able-Danger.

There are now three people who have confirmed participation in Able-Danger. Two are military professionals and one is a contractor. All claim to have been involved in an operation called Able-Danger and all claim that Atta and other hijackers involved in the 9-11 attacks had been identified by name.

There are so many unanswered questions about all of this.

For now, I must speculate. Before I do, I must note that on today's Blog post there is a new "Fly-on-the-Wall" feature that offers, from the insect's point of view, how it all might have come about.

I think this operation Able-Danger was sort of a rogue operation. The Clinton administration was known to be unfriendly to the military as well as the intelligence agencies. It is a oft-repeated maxim that Bill Clinton met with Monica more than he did the Director of the CIA.

But the Pentagon was still open for business and besides the oh-so-sanitary attack on Kosovo, not very busy during those eight years. I am supposing that many military people were alarmed by the attacks by Al-Queda no mind the Clinton administration's policy of treating it all as a law enforcement issue. No mind that the "investigators"-the intelligence agencies, couldn't tell the "law enforcement"-the FBI, what they found. Thus that policy was essentially useless as well.

I believe that Able-Danger was an operation undertaken by the army. It was probably approved by someone. Surely the Clinton administration knew that Al-Queda was a danger based on the attacks, ie the 93 WTC bombing, the Beirut marine barracks, etc. So there was likely orders for intelligence investigation into the group.

Though I'm convinced the administration asked for intelligence investigations more to keep the army busy and out of its hair than any desire for some real information.

So the Able-Danger operation went forward. From what I've read it seems that some sort of "super-computer" program was used, a bot that would read all airline reservations, credit card transactions, visa applications...that sort of thing, then digest the results to target likely problems in the form of terrorists, spies, etc.

I'm also thinking some of the information that Able-Danger group obtained would not have set well the American people. This might also be the reason for such hesitancy in coming forward. At least on the part of the Republicans. Remembering that this investigation took place BEFORE 9-11 when there was no Patriot Act allowing more freedom for such investigations.

It was the JAG's that threw out the results of Able-Danger's investigation. The military lawyers knew about "The Wall" and they knew that Reno/Gorelick would not allow any such investigation to continue any further on the part of the FBI.

But it appears that there's something to Able-Danger. And any investigation into the events leading up to the 9-11 attacks should have looked at it.

Because whatever the methodology, Able-Danger worked. And if the purpose of a vaunted commission on the 9-11 attacks was to pinpoint where the country went wrong with a look towards prevention in the future, then the commission certainly did NOT do its job.

Now why was Able-Danger ignored by the 9-11 commission?
