Political Tidbits-Pelosi's Plane and WAPO's Blatant Lie

We've got some really cute Political Tidbits this week.

We begin with, what else, Nancy Pelosi's plane. Why shouldn't she have a luxury air ship to transport her family over flyover country?

Some insight on the topsy-turvy lying WAPO story and a bit about that Imam who blessed the Democrats.

Also, what's going on with Mitt?

Finally, a cadre of Bush bashing jokes because if you ain't bashing Bush than what other joy is there?

The Pelosi Plane Flap

The recent flap over what sort of airplane Pelosi will get to fly her royal self, her staff, her supporters and her relatives....NO WAIT...scratch that, NO supporters or relatives....NO WAIT...SOME supporters...NO WAIT...

Well it's all been quite interesting and Pelosi's request for a much larger airplane than the one used by former House Speaker Dennis Hastert was initially justified as required to prevent stops for refueling whilst flying from right to left coast.

Which turned out to be all a big lie as the airplane used to transport former House Speaker Dennis Hastert, REPUBLICAN, can fly coast to coast with no need of re-fueling but go on, could Pelosi and company really be LYING to us?

Of course the lily-livered White House that never met a criticism it didn't fear bejeesus up and defended Pelosi's need for a bigger and better airplane, "for safety's sake" so that put a spear through the heart of that controversey. Still I'm out here in la-la land asking that if the White House thinks that House Speaker Pelosi needs a bigger airplane for her personal safety as third in line for the Presidency....WHY DIDN'T HASTERT NEED SUCH SAFETY TOO?

I'm thinking Pelosi made some kind of deal to get a bigger airplane, some deal with the Repubs and the White House, I don't know what but I've lost any trust I've ever had with it all.

What's the bigger thing to watch for here, how soon before the American public gets sick and tired of Queen Nancy's shenanigans? Because we might be busy out here in la-la land, carrying this country on our back and raising the next generation of soldiers and citizens, but we understand such as snooty behavior. Ever since Nancy's been crowned Queen the country's been watching, if even from a distance. It appears the Pubs and White House bend to this woman's every little whim so let us not count on them.

Soon enough, I don't know when but it'll happen because Pelosi really thinks she is the American Queen and the Dems think they have a clear mandate to do whatever they want, but soon they'll go too far. They always do.

It's like sitting back and enjoying the train wreck you know is coming.

Take this survey from ABC.com:

San Fran Mayor Newsom Reveals Secret of Heterosexual Sex in the Town of Left Hearts

So SF Mayor Gavin Newsom had an affair with his former campaign manager's wife and I don't know whether to laugh or weep.

First, two heteros doing it in San Francisco? Who knew?

Okay, acknowledging this oddity, we must look closer and Lord, it doesn't get much sleazier than this.

From SFGATE.com:
Mayor Gavin Newsom, vexed by a sex scandal and an admitted drinking problem, played to a warm crowd of friends, family and volunteers at the opening of his re-election campaign office Sunday.

In a packed storefront-turned-headquarters on Sutter Street near Van Ness Avenue, Newsom shook hands, hugged supporters and took the stage, where he apologized again for having an affair with his former campaign manager's wife.

Alex Tourk was not only Newsom's campaign manager, he was also his former deputy chief of staff. Newsom had an affair with Tourk's wife causing Tourk to resign. How crappy is this?

Now Newsom appears to be all alone in his quest to remain the San Francisco Mayor. The Dems are still angry at Newsom for allowing homosexual marriages in the San Francisco city hall early last year and splashing the pics on the front pages of newspapers across the fruited plains. Americans get squeamish about seeing bold homosexuals and the spectacle of those "marriages" and those weird "husbands and wives" set the cause of homosexual marriage back years.

Now we are to understand that Newsom has no heterosexual morals either?

We are not surprised, we are not one bit surprised.

Superbowl Sunday FreeRepublic Talk Show Thread

Posted below in its entirety....
===========================
And so it was Superbowl Sunday 2007 and yet the brave political junkees gathered together on FreeRepublic, on THIS thread, to discuss, dissect and disseminate wisdom as required from the Sunday political talk show fare offered on 2/4/2007.

Phsstpok's, as always offered an excellent pre-show thread to get everyone up to snuff on what politico would be appearing where and when.

Now on to the top ten posts/posters of Sunday, 2/4/07, FreeRepublic's Sunday Talk Show Thread.

I am covering this assignment for beloved Rodguy who had to work. So you are all stuck with my opinion. Get over it. Heh.

#10-Malia
...in a surprise late thread entry, Malia gives a fine listing of quotes on Saddam's Weapons of Mass Destruction. Some surprising quotes and even more surprising quote sources in this listing.

#9-tarheelswamprat

Another late thread entry with some unique insight on McCain, Newt and the REAL threats we face in this country.

#8-Morgan in Denver

Our Colorado pundit comes in at number 8 with an intriguing analysis of the Dems and the Pubbies in 2008.

Also, check out this dissection of Newt before ruling him out of the 2008 presidential race.

#7-MNJohnnie

There's nothing that will spark an in-thread interest more than a rollicking debate. MNjohnnie debates the points raised on posts containing surprising revelations on Newt and Allen as well as a controversial post all about compromise.

Follow the in-thread debate HERE

#6-Snugs

Of course Snugs always comes through with great pics of the Cheneys and the grandkids.

But for the stuff of real importance, Snugs also comes through with a great recipe for southwestern dip.

#5-altura

Altura ranks right up there this week on Sunday talk show posters for nothing else but this inconvenient truth about Molly Ivens. I am a bit tired of this post-death adulation of an unabashed liberal as well.

And for great slams against presidential contender John Edwards, it doesn't get much better than this.

#4-Laverne

Cheers to Laverne for some great posts on the Libby trial this past week. Check out Laverne's posts HERE AND HERE.

#3-eeevil conservative

EC became part of the in-thread debate with MNJohnnie. Along with the debate posts, EC offered a great Hillary analysis and some Wbb versus Allen insights.

The in-thread debate begins here.

Check here to find additional posts on the debate.

#2-AliVeritas

We're pretty sure that some part of user name AliVeritas means TRUTH. So coming in at number two this week on the FreeRepublic top ten Sunday Talk Show posts/posters, AliVeritas beguiles with information on John Edwards that astonishes.

We begin with the inside tale of Edwards' wife's cancer. We move on to, heh, something called John Edwards' marriage profile. We round it all of with TEN things you never knew about John Edwards.

If that's not enough, check out this post on on Sandy Berglar and finish it all off with this post on the "Sanity Squad".

#1-edpc

Comin in at number UNO on the FreeRepublic Weekly Sunday Talk show thread we have a user with the cryptic name of EDPC.

EDPC participated readily throughout the thread and this user's posts included insights on all manner of topics.

We begin with this interesting Biden comparison. Next, move on to a
Webb slam beautiful for its artful sarcasm. Hold on, we've got some Obama sarcasm and how can you not love this.

Just when we think all EDPC has to offer is sarcasm, we get this great post on Weapons of Mass Destruction.

We end with a list of RINO Republicans to avoid like the plague

That DNC Imam

There's nothing wrong with bringing in a representative of all faiths to pray at the various and sundry political meetings. Even if the faith representative is a Muslim Imam.

Democratic Imam on Hannity and ColmesHere's my question....if the Democratic National Committee, headed by ole Howie Dean, wanted a Muslim cleric to offer a prayer at its winter meeting, they couldn't find one a bit less controversial than Imam Husham Al-Husainy? Who, last year during the Lebanon war between Israel and Hezbollah led Dearborn, Michigan rallies in favor of Hezbollah and filled the Michigan air with anti-semitic rhetoric.

From Hotair.com, the "prayer" Al-Husainy said at the DNC breakfast:
We thank you god, to bless us among your creations. We thank you, god, to make us a great nation. We thank you, god toss send us your messages through our father Abraham, and Jesus and Mohammed, through you, god, we unite, so guide us to the right spot we wish for peace, equality and help us to stop the war and violence, and oppression and occupation. (emphasis added)

"Oppression and occupation"? To what or who does this fellow refer? Surely not our American troops in Iraq, right? I mean, come on, a major American political party would not have any cleric who would cast any kind of aspersions against our military actions, approved by the U.S. legislature, including many from Howie Dean's own party, right?

Couldn't the DNC have found a Muslim cleric that didn't dare to condemn American troops on such a visible political platform? It's almost as if the Democrats chose this controversial fellow on purpose, seems like don't it? Says a lot about whose side the Dems are on, right?

I happened to watch this smooth-talking Imam when he appeared on Hannity and Colmes, linked atHotAir.com HERE:
Imam Husham Al-Husainy appeared on Hannity & Colmes this evening to respond to a controversial prayer he gave at last week’s DNC winter meeting. Al-Husainy denied that he has attended or led any pro-Hezbollah rallies.

Al-Husainy says he never attended any pro-Hezbollah rallies but hey, this might be shocking news for an Arab, but he LIED!

This guy was such a smooth-talker his America-hating, terrorist-loving self. But I'll give Al-Husainy some slack. He's a terrorist friend of Hezbollah and just a little bit of checking would have brought this fact to the fore. It's the DEMOCRATS that simply cannot be forgiven.

They booked this fellow knowing his background.

Why can't this major political party, an American political party or used to be, be on AMERICA'S side for once?

Just Fax the WAPO Your DNC Talking Points

If ever a blatant distortion of facts was ever presented by a newspaper it has to be the most recent story in the Washington Post regarding an alleged report by the Pentagon's Inspector General.

From FloppingAces.net:
Official's Key Report On Iraq Is Faulted
'Dubious' Intelligence Fueled Push for War

By Walter Pincus and R. Jeffrey Smith
Washington Post Staff Writers
Friday, February 9, 2007; A01

Intelligence provided by former undersecretary of defense Douglas J. Feith to buttress the White House case for invading Iraq included "reporting of dubious quality or reliability" that supported the political views of senior administration officials rather than the conclusions of the intelligence community, according to a report by the Pentagon's inspector general.

Feith's office "was predisposed to finding a significant relationship between Iraq and al Qaeda," according to portions of the report, released yesterday by Sen. Carl M. Levin (D-Mich.). The inspector general described Feith's activities as "an alternative intelligence assessment process."

If one reads the above, one would logically conclude that undersecretary of defense Feith was involved in some "alternative intelligence assessment process" as stated by the Pentagon inspector general. This came from parts of the Pentagon inspector general's report as released by Sen. Levin of Michigan. Or that's where the WAPO says this information came only guess what?

IT DID NOT!

Those "portions" of the Pentagon inspector general's report Sen. Levin supposedly released to the WAPO came from nowhere near any Pentagon inspector general but were part of talking points distributed by, none other than Carl Levin HIMSELF!

Ah, that WAPO reporter, Walter Pincus....now why does this name sound familiar?

Oh, yeah...he's part and parcel of that Val Plame/Joe Wilson cabal involved in that joke of a Fitzgerald trial.

Carl Levin calls up Pincus..."Hey Walt....I'm faxing you over parts of a report just released by the Pentagon inspector general that positively condemns Doug Feith, Rumsfeld's undersecretary. The report accuses Feith of twisting intelligence facts. Think you could get it in your paper real soon?"

Pincus, never a fellow with many scruples at any rate, salivates and tells Levin that SURE....fax it on over. We'll print it up today.

Only what Levin faxed to the easily fooled Pincus was his own Democratic talking points and words that were NEVER part of any Pentagon inspector general's report. Well damn, anyone can just sit down and write anything they want. Call up a fool at WAPO and if it's a lie damaging to the administration, hey, they'll print it with no bother of checking the facts.

The WAPO issued a major correction when Levin's duplicity was discovered, from the same link above.

Correction to This Article
A Feb. 9 front-page article about the Pentagon inspector general’s report regarding the office of former undersecretary of defense Douglas J. Feith incorrectly attributed quotations to that report. References to Feith’s office producing “reporting of dubious quality or reliability” and that the office “was predisposed to finding a significant relationship between Iraq and al Qaeda” were from a report issued by Sen. Carl Levin (D-Mich.) in Oct. 2004. Similarly, the quotes stating that Feith’s office drew on “both reliable and unreliable reporting” to produce a link between al-Qaeda and Iraq “that was much stronger than that assessed by the IC [Intelligence Community] and more in accord with the policy views of senior officials in the Administration” were also from Levin’s report.

Hey, Washington Post...just LIE why don't you?

When does a Lamestream joke like the WAPO just go away and die a quiet death?

Mitt Romney Announces

If you ask me, Mitt waited a tad too long to throw his hat in the political ring for the 2008 presidential elections. Not that February 2007, a full year and a half before the 2008 elections, is the normal month such announcements are made but what with Barack Obama, Hillary, Giuliani, McCain, et al, if one is serious about a presidential run one better get their name out there.

For now, I'm between Giuliani and Romney. McCain? NEVER.

From the Boston Herald.com:
So now Mitt’s in third place, or fourth in a few polls, behind Newt Gingrich. That’s not a bad place to be. That’s where John Kerry (again, that name) was in Iowa three years ago. Then the top two guys opened fire on each other, and, after mortally wounding Dick Gephardt, Howard Dean turned the gun on himself.

Oh, and let's not forget ole Joe Biden, mine own fine Delaware Senator, who also announced his candidacy for President (although....psssssttt...Biden's looking for a Secretary of Defense position with a Dem president, don't tell anybody I told you). After Biden announced he immediately put his foot in mouth by declaring Obama "clean". Heh.

What's Going on With Florida's Governor Crist?

I received, via anonymous email, the following:
Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday of this week (1-23, 24, 25) in The St. Petersburg Times and Tampa Tribune were articles related to the Centcom "scandal" and to our new governor, Charlie Crist, being an unwed father - and he refuses to take a DNA test.

I've not bothered with searching the newspapers referenced above and I've heard nothing about Charlie Crist's being an unwed father. Yon Blog readers are very good sources of such things. If anyone has anything on this, can I get some more info on it?

Heck, I thought Jeb Bush was still Florida's Governor to show you how far behind I am.

The Joke's On the Democrats

A woman married three times walked into a bridal shop one day and told the sales clerk that she was looking for a wedding gown for her fourth wedding.
"Of course, madam," replied the sales clerk, "exactly what type and color dress are you looking for?"

The bride-to-be said: "A long frilly white dress with a veil." The sales clerk hesitated a bit, then said, "Please don't take this the wrong way,but
gowns of that nature are considered more appropriate for brides who are being married the first time - for those who are a bit more innocent, if you know what I mean? Perhaps ivory or sky blue would be nice?"

"Well," replied the customer, a little peeved at the clerk's directness, "I can assure you that a white gown would be quite appropriate. Believe
it or not, despite all my marriages, I remain as innocent as any first-time bride. You see, my first husband was so excited about our wedding, he died as we were checking into our hotel.

My second husband and I got into such a terrible fight in the Limo on our way to our honeymoon that we had that wedding annulled immediately and never spoke to each other again."

"What about your third husband?" asked the sales clerk. "That one was a Democrat," said the woman, "and every night for four years, he just sat on the edge of the bed and told me how good it was going to be."

If it's "non-binding", why are those congress critters wasting our taxpayer dollars fooling around with this nonsense? Aren't there other things of national import that need addressing, like, say, maybe the border fence?

No wait....it's all about bashing Bush....I get it! Again, as a public service....
