Culture: Spielburg daughter has odd job. Coronavirus could cost loss of more than just your life.

Daily Miscellany

Thoughts and flashes of brilliance that enter my head from nowhere.

Enjoy.  Or abhor, depending on the effect of my "wisdom".

I chanced to see Dr. Ben Carson as part of the group helping VP Pence deal with the caronavirus.  And it occurs to me how much I like this guy.  He's intelligent, personable and quite handsome.  And he's from Baltimore!  Here's hoping he runs for President some day.

I don't especially like laws but there is a legislation that congress passed many years ago that is a fine example that laws can be passed that benefits the people.

I speak of the 401K/IRA law that allows a person to save their money pre-tax as a deduct from their paycheck to use at retirement and to pay taxes on it then, when money coming in is a lot less than we were working.

I, an average person, benefitted from this legislation.

Plus I spent my whole life dealing with IRS's via my job in payroll.

Mike Bloomberg passes laws that tell us how much soda we can drink.

Director Steven Spielberg’s Daughter Mikaela Announces Porn Career

I don't care what anyone says....no way is a parent proud at this announcement from a beloved daughter.

I am quite sure that Spielburg can help support his daughter so she doesn't have to shame herself in this manner.

I say there is way more to this story.  Perhaps she's on drugs or something.

Mikaela Spielberg, the 23-year-old daughter of famed Hollywood director Steven Spielberg, announced on Wednesday according to reports that she is now starring in porn videos.

Mikaela Spielberg, who is the adopted daughter of the director and his actress wife Kate Capshaw, told the US Sun that her parents support her adult film career.

Mikaela said that when she told her parents about her decision, they were “intrigued” but “not upset.”

The Nashville, Tennessee, native also told the paper that she is a “sexual creature” and got tired of working day-to-day to earn a living.

“I got really tired of not being able to capitalize on my body, and frankly, I got really tired of being told to hate my body,” she said. “And I also just got tired of working day-to-day in a way that wasn’t satisfying my soul.”

2nd Person Killed by Mardi Gras Float in New Orleans

It's Lent and I wear my ashes proudly.  And so the Mardi Gras begins and what was once a beloved American ritual has become a mess.

This year two people died by poorly made or engineered floats.

New Orleans too has deteriorated as has the Mardi Gras.

The man was fatally injured Saturday evening as the popular Krewe of Endymion was rolling, New Orleans police said in a statement. He was pronounced dead at the scene, and the Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office was to release his name and cause of death after completing an autopsy and notifying his family.

The remainder of Endymion’s parade was scrapped Saturday evening. Police said 13 floats had already gone ahead when the accident occurred with the 14th float in the formation. Remaining floats that followed, along with marching groups, were diverted from the accident scene on Canal Street, a wide route popular with parade viewers in the Mississippi River port city.

The float, with its gaudy lights still twinkling, was cordoned off by police on horseback and on foot. All around, streets were strewn with tossed bead necklaces and trinkets thrown from the floats.

Coronavirus: Diet Coke supplies could be affected by outbreaks

I mean the coronavirus has scared the beejeesus out of the planet but damn, we may have to do without Diet Coke.

Which is a big never mind as I've already lost a small fortune on the stock market.

But damn..... no Diet Coke?

We’re OK now, but officials at Coca-Cola said if the coronavirus continues to spread, there could be an impact on how much Diet Coke and other low-cal drinks are available.

The sugar alternatives Coke uses in Diet Coke and its other zero-sugar drinks have been delayed, the company said in its annual report released Monday, CNN reported.

But the good news is, the company has started its contingency supply plans to cover the short-term impact.

“However, we may see tighter supplies of some of these ingredients in the longer term should production or export operations in China deteriorate,” Coke said in the filing, according to CNN.

The ingredient that could be impacted by the virus is sucralose, also known as Splenda, which is used in not only in some Diet Coke variants, but also Powerade Zero. It is sourced from suppliers in both the US and in China, CNN reported. But the company did not specify what exactly could be delayed.
