Enjoy.  Or abhor, depending on the effect of my "wisdom".

So I watched Nik Wallenda walk a tightrope over a volcano and I wondered why anyone would do such a thing.

Of course plenty of people probably wonder the same thing but allow me to add to my revery.  It is the most boring thing in the world to watch besides observing paint drying.  Further, it was cleverly hidden but there were all kind of straps hooked up to the thing spanning over the volcano.  Nik Wallenda was never going to fall down into the lava and flames no matter much he said he was so scared.

But I watched him walk over, and walk over, and walk over.  I started snoring.  I petted the cat.  I pondered all the better things I could watch.

Finally he made it across to much cheering and I vowed to never watch such a silly thing ever again.

You Won’t Believe Who’s Leading The Race To Replace Baltimore’s Last Corrupt Mayor; But Then, This Is Baltimore, So, Believe It.

Baltimore can't seem to get a Mayor who isn't an out-an-out crook.  Let me remind that Nancy Pelosi's father and brother were both once mayors of Baltimore.  The D'Alesandros.....they ran Baltimore for many decades and now one is Speaker of America's House.

At this point, it’s worth reminding everyone that Charm City has been on something of a bad luck streak in terms of mayors for several years now. Ever since Martin O’Malley left to become governor, it’s been all downhill from there. He was replaced by Sheila Dixon, who was forced out of office after being convicted of embezzlement. She was replaced by Stephanie Rawlings-Blake, who didn’t even bother trying for a second term after she let the city burn down around her during the Freddie Gray riots. (She’s now a campaign co-chair for Mike Bloomberg.) And she was followed by Ms. Pugh.


So who is currently leading in the polls to replace Jack Young as Baltimore’s next mayor? It’s none other than… Sheila Dixon. Yes, the same Sheila Dixon mentioned above who was convicted of embezzlement. And no… I’m not even kidding. (Baltimore Sun)

Trump rebukes Schumer over threat to Gorsuch, Kavanaugh: 'A disgrace he was able to say something like that'.

Been a huge flap this week about Schumer's perceived threat against the Supreme Court.

President Trump claimed Wednesday that Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y. was not protected by congressional "immunity" when he made threatening comments toward Supreme Court Justices Neil Gorsuch and Brett Kavanaugh at a pro-abortion rally outside the court, suggesting that Schumer was in line for some kind of punishment.

In a phone interview on "Hannity", the president compared Schumer's remarks to the "parody" of his July 25 phone call with Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky orated by Rep. Adam Schiff, D-Calif., during a congressional hearing last year.

Chief Justice Roberts issues rare rebuke to Schumer's 'dangerous' and 'irresponsible' comments; Schumer fires back

Even the Supreme Court Chief Justice had to give a public rebuke.

Chief Justice of the United States John Roberts on Wednesday issued a highly unusual and forceful rebuke to Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., calling his seemingly threatening remarks directed at Associated Justices Neal Gorsuch and Brett Kavanaugh "irresponsible" and "dangerous" -- prompting Schumer's office to slam Roberts and accuse him of bias.

The extraordinary back-and-forth began hours earlier at a pro-choice rally hosted by the Center for Reproductive Rights, when Schumer ominously singled out President Trump's two Supreme Court picks: "I want to tell you, Gorsuch. I want to tell you, Kavanaugh. You have released the whirlwind and you will pay the price!" Schumer warned. "You won’t know what hit you if you go forward with these awful decisions."

"This morning, Senator Schumer spoke at a rally in front of the Supreme Court while a case was being argued inside," Roberts said in his remarkable written statement, obtained by Fox News. "Senator Schumer referred to two Members of the Court by name and said he wanted to tell them that 'You have released the whirlwind, and you will pay the price. You will not know what hit you if you go forward with these awful decisions.'"

Roberts continued: "Justices know that criticism comes with the territory, but threatening statements of this sort from the highest levels of government are not only inappropriate, they are dangerous. All Members of the Court will continue to do their job, without fear or favor, from whatever quarter."
Schumer spokesman Justin Goodman quickly responded by accusing Roberts of bias

[…] “For Justice Roberts to follow the right wing’s deliberate misinterpretation of what Sen. Schumer said, while remaining silent when President Trump attacked Justices Sotomayor and Ginsberg last week, shows Justice Roberts does not just call balls and strikes.”

As of this writing, Schumer did make some sort of half-assed apology.  Said he "misspoke".  He did no such thing.  Schumer's been around for almost a century.  He stood in front of the Supreme Court and shouted what he shouted.  He even named the justices who would bear the wrath should they stop abortions.
