Catholicism: Blame the Catholic Church for the Virus and Everything Else.

Daily Miscellany

Thoughts and flashes of brilliance that enter my head from nowhere.

Enjoy.  Or abhor, depending on the effect of my "wisdom".

Couple of commercials I find very effective.  First, Turbo Tax, which sings the word FREE over and over, emphasizing that your taxes will be calculated and submitted to the IRS without cost to you.  Of course Turbo Tax is reimbursed by the IRS for each income tax return it submits via its online site.  It's just easier to have the smart people who program this sort of stuff than have highly-paid IRS agents oversee the prep of all these tax returns.

Geico always has interesting commercials.  The one with a sloth drawing a picture on a canvas with guests sitting around trying to guess what the drawing is is a funny commercial.  The sloth only manages to get one vertical line drawn on the paper canvas which as the guests frantically try to figure out what it is supposed to be.  A zipper was one guess.

Turns out it was going to be, had the sloth ever gotten more than one line drawn, a tandem bicycle.

Heh.

Made me smile.

There's something off about this story.  First off, note where it says "FAKE NEWS"  that the photo is fake.  The media is determined to make the Catholic church the bad guys in all of this.

Idol Worship Abounds as Italian Air Force Flies the "Blessed Sacrament" & Statue of the Virgin Mary over cities in Italy hit by the COVID-19 Coronavirus

A statue of the Virgin Mary is being flown over the cities of Italy in order tocombat the coronavirus. A priest is seen holding up the Holy Eucharist while being flown in a military plane by the Italian Air Force. This is how Rome is trying to protect their homeland.

Someone mixed up pictures. That top photo is a picture of a priest carrying the Eucharist and flying over NJ: Source

The Bishops Have Abandoned Us: These Wolves Deserve All Our Contempt and Disdain

https://rorate-caeli.blogspot.com/2020/04/the-bishops-have-abandoned-us-these.html

Again, more blaming the Catholic church for trying to work with the government while providing religion for its parishioners.

The worldwide situation is serious.

The underlying illness causing the situation is also serious.

But the attitude of most bishops in most affected countries is simply despicable, repugnant, deserving all our contempt and disdain. Not content with having thrown the faithful for decades to the care of sexual abusers, now, in the moment of greatest need, they simply abandon us.

The suspension of large gatherings (including public masses) is quite understandable. But the other measures are abusive, and a sign of the complete disregard of these wolves who pretend to be shepherds for the souls of the faithful. But the act of many, apparently most, bishops to close churches to simple individual prayer in front of the Blessed Sacrament? And, much worse, to "ban" confessions in the time of greatest need? To "ban" last rites, including the viaticum and extreme unction in the time of greatest peril?

What is the point of the Church at all, of the priesthood, if these physicians of the soul abandon the sick right now? How come Francis mentioned the church as a "field hospital" from day one of his pontificate, and, when the need for actual field hospitals is here, priests and bishops simply do not show up? Do they have to despise the laity that much? THIS is clericalism of the worst kind.
Note this, bishops who have "banned" confessions and last rites in this time: WE WILL NOT FORGET THAT YOU ABANDONED US IN THE MOMENT OF GREATEST NEED.

Pope Francis Strips God’s Wrath From Mass for Pandemic

And now we bring the Pope in on the gilt but as is always the case with Pope Francis, he has to re-phrase the next day what he MEANT to say the day before.

https://www.churchmilitant.com/news/article/pope-francis-erases-gods-wrath-from-new-mass-for-pandemic

The new "Mass in Time of Pandemic," published on April 1 by the Vatican's Congregation for Divine Worship, has been stripped of all references to the "wrath of God."

The liturgy, approved by Pope Francis, eliminates all prayers emphasizing "repentance" — references which abound in the "Recordare domine testamenti" [Remember, Lord, thy covenant] votive Mass — composed and used for deliverance from pestilences since the Black Plague in the mid-14th century.
