Politics Pelosi attacks Trump; FDA vs. CDC. Poli Cartoon of the Week.

Daily Miscellany

Thoughts and flashes of brilliance that enter my head from nowhere.

Enjoy.  Or abhor, depending on the effect of my "wisdom".

Toilet paper.  Everywhere you look toilet paper is advertised.  Below is a Facebook advertisement.  Before the virus panic I don't recall seeing toilet paper advertised on Facebook.  And EMAIL!  I get email for toilet paper.

The country has gone crazy.

FDA SAYS HYDROXYCHLOROQUINE AND CHLOROQUINE CAN BE USED TO TREAT CORONAVIRUS

This has been the big political story of the week.  And while stories eke out, one hears about this test group all cured here, this 150 year old man with leprosy over there....cured.

The FDA?  This is the Food and Drug Administration? Shouldn't the CDC approve this?  There is a chorus of alphabet agencies all employing people who have not been laid off as of yet.

By this time next year there will be a vaccine and covid-19 will be just a bad memory, the only bad memory that most of our somewhat spoiled children and grandchildren have ever lived through.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has approved the use of two anti-malaria drugs to treat patients infected by the new coronavirus.

On Sunday, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) said in a statement that chloroquine and hydroxychloroquine could be prescribed to teens and adults with COVID-19 "as appropriate, when a clinical trial is not available or feasible," after the FDA issued an Emergency Use Authorization. (EUA) That marked the first EUA for a drug related to COVID-19 in the U.S., according to the statement.

Currently, there are no specific drugs for COVID-19 which, as shown in the Statista graph below (accurate as of March 26), has sickened over half a million people. According to Johns Hopkins University, over 720,000 cases have been confirmed, more than 34,000 people have died, and over 152,000 have recovered since the pandemic started in China late last year.

POLITICAL CARTOON OF THE WEEK

Donald Trump calls Nancy Pelosi a 'sick puppy' as he abandons pretense of bipartisanship in revenge strike after she attacked him saying 'as the president fiddles people are dying'

This was one of the worst thing Pelosi could say.  She held up the CARES bill a week longer than needed.  She told people to go out and tour Chinatown in her San Francisco district.

Nancy D'Alesandro Pelosi....my childhood pal.

Ask me about it some time.

"Well you know, it's a sad thing. Look, she's a sick puppy in my opinion. She really is. She's got a lot of problems and that's a horrible thing to say,' he said of the House Speaker.

Trump's attack was in reaction to a question during a Fox & Friends interview Monday about Pelosi blaming him for not handling the coronavirus crisis in a timely manner, and claiming while he 'fiddles, people are dying.'

Biden confirms he's considering Whitmer for VP

This Whitmer woman is the Governor of Michigan and she is doing a terrible job.

Biden wants a woman on the ticket?  I will offer a few:  Michelle Obama.  Tulsi Gabbord.  NO NOT HILLARY.    Elizabeth Warren?  Hmmmmm.  Outside possibility.

I think for Biden to put a woman up as his VP is a good idea for senile Joe but hey, I don't think he will be the final choice for the DNC presidential nominee.

Former Vice President Joe Biden confirmed this week that Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer (D) is one of the women he's considering as a potential running mate in his White House bid.

Biden, who has already vowed to tap a woman as his vice presidential pick, said Tuesday night he’s been considering Whitmer for the role for months, but that he is eyeing as many as 10 potential candidates.

“She made the list in my mind two months ago. There’s probably going to be a list, I’m in the process of, Brian, we’ll have it by mid-April, putting together an organization that will run the background checks…by the second or third week in April,” Biden told MSNBC host Brian Williams.
