Deep Thoughts: Will Amber Frey Ever Learn?

Okay, some not so deep. But sometimes a muse comes upon and the immenseness of the thoughts must be preserved
Amber Makes Her Debut
And The Wise I caught much of it.

Ever since Amber Frey came to the public limelight as lover to Scott Peterson, that lovely man who murdered his wife, Laci, then 8 months pregnant with their son, Conner, she's been claimed and owned by famous celebrity lawyer, Gloria Allred.

I mention Allred only because on every public outing of Amber last week there was Gloria Allred, by her side and a bit obnoxious in her hovering presence as The Wise I sees it.

As for Amber, I must note several things. One, she is much more attractive than I thought. Two, she is much more well-spoken than I would have considered. Three, she really did do an admirable thing and I'd assert deserves the moola now coming her way.

Not that I thought Amber was ugly, ever. It's just those nice new contacts and fresh dewy skin do become her. As for not being well-spoken, well I don't know why I thought she was a verbal klutz. Perhaps because so little of her had been seen throughout the Peterson trial.

I like her soft breathy voice and the way she pauses before answering questions. My assessment is that she's quite adept on her own so why the dragon lady accomplice is beyond me.

Last week Amber was on Oprah, Hannity and Colmes, and Dateline with Matt Lauer. Sean Hannity gave Amber the most difficult grilling but she held up well. It was Hannity who mentioned that Amber would be making a bundle off of a murder. Allred, naturally, butted in, reminding us how much work Amber had to miss, her expenses for trial, etc, etc.

There's been criticism over the cover of Amber's book. Adam Stewart, an attorney for Laci's mother, said the book cover is "extremely hurtful and offensive to Laci's mother and her family," and "Displaying a picture of Laci on the cover of Amber Frey's book portrays a lack of respect and insensitivity towards Laci and Laci's family and friends,"

I'd assert that while understanding how having Laci's picture on the cover of a book such as Amber's can hurt at the memory, it's only someone close to Laci that would take such offense. For the picture on Amber's book is perfect, both in terms of her relationship to Scott and Laci Peterson and in terms of how the public perceives it.

Besides, I'd remind Laci's Mom that Amber DID come forward immediately and identify herself to the police. She also, for a long while, taped Scott in their telephone conversations, serving as an undercover plant for the police. And finally, to Laci's Mom, remember please that you TOO are writing a book. May we assume your sensibilities are too gentle to put Amber on the cover of YOUR book? We shall see.

As for Amber, congratulations girl and you go. It's the American way. BUT...Amber, when you met Scott you were an unwed mother of one child. Then you got involved with Scott but okay, Grandmother too had a few wrongheaded relationships in her life.

Now, however, Amber has yet another child born out of wedlock.

I must ask why. And will she ever learn?
