Buffet Loses Cell Phone in Margaritaville
What a hoot. Seems a busboy found the cell phone and had a good ole time calling folks. Including Clinton, Gore and Carter.

Buffet a Democrat? Who Knew?

From the Palm Beach Post
According to a police report, a busboy in a Delray Beach eatery found Buffett's cell and kept it for a week. After coaxing by Buffett's staff and even wife, Jane Buffett, went awry, it took a visit from Lake Worth cops and a U.S. Secret Service agent to the home of busboy Jason Martin on June 4 for Buffett to get the phone back.

Problem is: The fancy Ericsson's memory card with the names, phone numbers and some addresses of dozens of big-deal Buffett buds is missing.

It may be time for Democratic giants Bill Clinton, Al Gore and Jimmy Carter; country music stars Clint Black, George Strait and Alan Jackson; rap-reggae star Cam'ron; actors George Clooney, Michael Douglas and Harrison Ford; and Microsoft supergeek Bill Gates to change their numbers. Martin says all their info is on the microchip.

Macaulay Culkin Lies AND Uses Drugs
Under oath he lies! For Culkin testified that Wacko Jacko never touched him sexually although other witnesses testified to actually witnessing a molestation incident involving Culkin. So somebody’s lying.

My money’s on Culkin.

Now he’s been arrested for drug possession. Not all that unusual except scuttlebutt has it that Culkin has been very rude to investigators.

Look for this guy to be yet another celebrity heading straight downhill.
From Yahoo.com
OKLAHOMA CITY - Former child star Macaulay Culkin pleaded guilty Wednesday to misdemeanor charges of possession of medication without a prescription and marijuana and was given a deferred sentence.

Russell Crowe arrested after NY hotel fracas
Face it, Russell Crowe is an actor and really yon reader, he’s not all that.

The Wise I thinks his roles as gladiators and champion of the people has gone to his head. So much so that he considers such as slamming phones into hotel personnel heads to be his God-given right. Sure, he apologized.

He doesn’t mean it.

It WILL happen again.

Mon Jun 6, 2005 08:09 AM ET

New York (Reuters) - Actor Russell Crowe was arrested on Monday charged with second-degree assault after throwing a telephone at a hotel employee and hitting him in the face, police said.

The 41-year-old Oscar-winning star got into an argument at the Mercer Street Hotel in the SoHo district of New York City shortly after 4 a.m. and threw the phone at the worker, police said.

The employee, who has not been identified, suffered minor lacerations and was taken to St. Vincent's Hospital, they said.

Help for Small Businesses?

Yea Delaware has no sales tax. But make no mistake, SOMEONE is paying for sales made in Delaware.

Which would be the businesses actually selling the product.

Having no sales tax does promote business in Delaware especially from Maryland residents who come to Delaware to avoid paying their sales tax.

Republicans in the Delaware legislature said they’re determined to have a cut in the gross receipts tax. For in Delaware, it is the businesses that pay sales tax revenues as opposed to the consumer.

Which, a)de facto eliminates the premise of the sales tax law. Which was that those with more discretionary income to buy stuff would be adding to the state coffers at a higher rate than the poorer amongst us and b)makes the businesses pass along the gross receipts tax to the consumer, leaving us back where we started.

As a former Merrylander, I find it even more startling that GROCERY stores must pay a gross receipts tax. In Merryland at least, food is NOT subject to sales tax.

In this great state of no sales tax, it’s likely I am paying MORE for food than in my home state of Merryland.
Lawmakers generally agree that the state's gross receipts business tax is going to be cut, although the size of that cut is open to debate, Senate Minority Leader John C. Still III, R-Dover North, said Thursday.

Republicans have insisted on cutting the gross receipts tax after the same proposal was rejected last year. This year House Republicans have set as their No. 1 legislative priority a 25 percent tax cut, except for supermarkets. Supermarkets now are taxed at a rate of 0.384 percent on the first $2 million and 0.720 percent after that.

"We're close, very close," said Still, one of the negotiators who spent much of Thursday in closed- door talks. "There are some people who still don't want a tax cut, but I think they know we're not leaving without one."

Shades of West Virginia
This came upon my Ebox by a Delaware GOP email. And I suppose the pubbie RINO’s in this state are proud of Senator Roth, a Delaware congress critter before my time in my adopted state.

I am reminded, however, of West Virginia, where every building and outhouse is named after Senator Byrd.

It’s never been a great notion, as I see it, for these self-important congress critters to go naming stuff after themselves.
Proposal made to name bridge after Sen. Roth

As the Senate Environmental and Public Works Committee today considered legislation to rename the SR-1 bridge that spans the Chesapeake and Delaware Canal the "Senator William V. Roth, Jr. Bridge," Delaware Congressman Mike Castle joined the effort by introducing companion legislation in the House of Representatives.
