Cox to Head SEC
From CNN.com:
President Bush nominated Rep. Christopher Cox, R-Calif., to head the Securities and Exchange Commission Thursday.

"He will be an outstanding leader of the SEC," Bush said.

"I look forward to the opportunity to serve our nation in a new role, as Chairman of the SEC," Cox said.

Bush called on the Senate "to confirm his nomination at the earliest possible date."

Hah. The Dems will block this nomination because…well it’s what they do.

Gotta Love the Classy Clintons
Although a Clinton spokesperson says that ample and proper notice, who you going to believe? “I did not have sex with that woman” Willie or the restaurant?
From the Scotsman.com:
Italian Restaurant May Sue Clinton over No-Show

Romeo Caraccio was thrilled when a former President of the United States made reservations in his restaurant, one of Rome's finest, but he never dreamed that he'd end up being stiffed by Bill Clinton.

According to The Scotsman, the restaurant, popular with visiting celebrities, got a call from a member of Clinton's staff asking that a table be set aside at 1:30 p.m. for the ex-president and his party of 18.

A delighted Caraccio went all out, clearing away a corner of his dining room and ordering more than $1,000 worth of extra food and wine for his VIP guest and entourage.

However, 1:30 p.m. came and went and there was still no sign of Clinton or his party, who the Scotsman reported was in Rome as part of a week-long visit promoting links between Africa and Europe.

A waiter at the restaurant told the Scotsman "We had a call from one of his security team making the reservation and then a visit to check out the place.

"It was all confirmed and the boss even ordered in more food and wine - he spent an extra £1,000, but he never turned up.

"The boss was furious as he didn't even have the decency to cancel. When he called the security guard to find out what was happening he said 'change of plan' and just put the phone down."

Mr. Caraccio said: "The story is true, but I don't really want to comment any further. We were expecting Mr. Clinton, but he never arrived and he didn't even cancel his reservation."

Caraccio wants to be compensated for the trouble he went to preparing for Clinton's visit and the Scotsman writes that he may sue to get it.

The New York Post this week got a fierce reaction to the story from a spokesman for Mr. Clinton. Clinton's aide said the entourage did in fact cancel in a timely manner and paid the restaurant as well.

Scientology Getting to Tom Cruise
Myself didn’t see the show in question but I chanced upon it in Internet travels. I did manage to scrounge up a picture and a colorful quote from a gossip group.
From Datalounge.com
I'm telling you...I am still recovering. He was totally manic and a freak. Oprah looked a bit uncomfortable when he kept pushing at her - it didn't only happen once. He goes on and on about how romantic he is with his women and then shoves Oprah around like a 10 year old boy having a tantrum. I used to think he was just a closet-case and pathetic - now add CRAZY to the mix.

Warren Beatty for Governor of California?
Well he did run for President once. Yes I know it was a movie but in California that’s as good as real.
Warren Beatty enters, stage left, and breaks Hollywood's silence
against the governor.

By Rachel Abramowitz, Times Staff Writer

"I see nothing wrong with Maria Shriver becoming a Republican. I'd say many of my best friends are Republicans," says Warren Beatty, Oscar-winning actor-director and liberal citizen-activist. Over the phone, his legendary voice purrs. He knows exactly what he's saying, and although his tone is wry, he's not really joking.

Star Wars Movie Has Problems
Seems devoted Star Wars’ fans have problems with the latest of the trilogy, “Revenge of the Sith”.

Below this is a cartoon I came upon and thought it appropriate to insert here.

From IMDB.com
'Star Wars' Slammed for Continuity Errors

The final Star Wars movie Episode III - Revenge Of The Sith has been slated by outraged fans, because it's riddled with continuity errors. Viewers have inundated website Moviemistakes.Com complaining director George Lucas's blockbuster contains 14 glaring mistakes. One film fan says of the latest film, "When he is telling Anakin how proud he is of him, Obi-wan's eye color shifts from Ewan McGregor's natural blue-green eyes to a dark brown."

Another fumes, "When Samuel L. Jackson says, 'I don't think the boy can handle it, I don't trust him,' his lips don't match his dialogue." But the mistakes in the current release are nothing compared to the original 1977 film Episode IV - A New Hope which contained 214 mistakes, and its sequel The Empire Strikes Back, which contained 144 errors

Mike We’ll Remember You at Election Time
A REPUBICAN congress critter wants to spend your tax money for research on embryonic stem-cell research.

The science is sketchy at best but for now, let’s not forget that research on embryonic stem-cell research is NOT illegal. Private labs and entrepreneurs can do all the research they want.

But could be that the big drug companies want FEDERAL funds to pay for their fun?

Mike Castle is the sponsor of a bill to expand federal funding.

Thanks, Mike. But then Delaware IS the state of DuPont.

Why Is the Delaware Government Getting Involved With Private Contracts?

Although Delaware Attorney General Jane Brady did advise the complainants to sue in a court of law over their landlord grievances. Duh.

Because there’s no place needed for fawning politicians to go boo-hooing with mobile home owners over their rent increases and poor drainage.

Except in the case of the mobile home owners there’s good sight bites of sobbing mobile home owners. Not to mention that unconstitutional law Delaware passed making residents of current mobile home parks pay into a fund to help displaced owners of other mobile home parks where the landowner has sold out to developers.

How would yon reader like it if you had to pay into a fund via special tax for homeowners whose house is razed for urban development? Or how about having to pay into a fund for apartment dwellers whose building is scheduled to be torn down?

It’s not the residents living in existing mobile home parks, or the homeowners living in a house not due to be razed, or the apartment renters living in a building not scheduled for demolishment, it’s not their fault that others living in a similar dwelling might suffer unfortunate circumstances.

Why not make ALL the taxpayers’ pay for the mobile home owners soon to be without a plot of land? No wait, that wouldn’t do the politicians any political good. Instead let’s just sneak in this little tax on other mobile home owners that Granny isn’t left to wander the streets.

While this law is currently being tested in court, it is still a fact of life that mobile homes and apartments have LEASES, signed by the Landlord AND the tenant.

Anyone who lives in a mobile home knows that they are out of luck without a place to park the vehicle. Many mobile home owners rent a plot of land from an individual who rents such things out. These same individuals are all being coerced daily by developers anxious for that land and some, as is the American way, choose to sell.

 Posted by Hello

Yes this is very unfortunate for mobile home owners renting on a lot that has just been sold. No doubt their lease stipulates the amount of notice that must be given, the terms of mobile home removal, etc.

In other words, it’s one of the pitfalls of renting land from someone else. It’s not for politicians to go taxing people to pay for the pitfalls the renters should understand.

No, I don’t want to see Granny left out on the street. But there are social service departments everywhere in Delaware. It’s the sort of thing they do. And Granny does have a mobile home for which she only needs a piece of land. Have the social services find her a place to re-locate and make it simpler for everyone, howaboutit?

From Delmarvanow
Mobile-home park tenants received bipartisan encouragement Monday evening to persist in protesting larger-than-usual rent increases and combating alleged misdeeds by their landlords.

State Rep. Pete Schwartzkopf, a Rehoboth Beach Democrat, urged members of the Delaware Manufactured Home Owners Association to maintain their emphasis on the rent hikes of 25 percent and more that have roiled the Tunnell Cos. parks in Long Neck. And Delaware Attorney General Jane Brady, a Republican, invited the crowd of approximately 100 to provide her office with evidence of possible wrongdoing, such as rental contracts that may contain illegal clauses.

Brady also told association members, who met in Angola but included tenants of parks in all three Delaware counties, to consider suing their landlords in cases in which her office does not prosecute. She said her staff will step in when it finds a series of deceptive practices, but tenants sometimes must go to court to solve individual problems, such as poor drainage in a park.
