Do They Really Know?
Got into a discussion on FreeRepublic over the news that “economists” had predicted 185,000 but came up short with reports of 78,000 jobs.

Who are these economists and on what basis are they making this prediction?

The unemployment rate is 5.1% which is considered the percentage of normal attrition and job change.

Anyway, there is no conclusion I suppose except boo-hoo, there’s jobs out there and they can be found.
POST HERE
The employment report was released today at 8:30 AM. Jobs were up 78,000, well less than consensus. Smallest monthly increase since August 2003. Economists had predicted 185,000 jobs created in May. In April, there were 274,000 jobs created. April figures were not revised. Unemployment is 5.1%

Running Below the Fold
The NY Times reported on this story extensively when Baghdad fell. Lots of looting and the implication was that our troops were unable to stop it.

Turns out it was Baghdad museum insiders that stole the artifacts. With much of it now recovered even with the war going on.

Does the NY Slimes have a big feature on the recovery and the purported perpetrators? NO.

From the Washington Times:
NEW YORK -- Roughly half of the 15,000 items looted from the National Museum of Iraq in 2003 have been recovered, said its director, who thanked American officials for assistance in restoring the building. Archaeologist and museum director Donny George said law-enforcement and customs officials in the United States had intercepted at least 1,000 artifacts stolen from the museum in the chaotic days after the fall of Baghdad.

Looking Forward to the Fireworks
Don’t know if Deep Throat or someone leaked this info to the Washington Post but it would seem that there will be judicial nominee fireworks in the Senate.

It’s long past showdown on this issue. Bush has been President for five years now. He was re-elected. Why can’t the man get his nominees up for a SIMPLE VOTE?

From the WAPO
The White House is preparing to send a raft of new judicial nominations to the Senate in the next few weeks, according to Republican strategists inside and outside the administration -- a move that could challenge the durability of last week's bipartisan filibuster deal and reignite the political warfare it was intended to halt.
