Saddam admits guilt! Not that we ever doubted it.

And what the hell happened to those New Orleans' cops?

Here's the first entry of the "Katrina for Kaitlyn" series.

There's an update on what's happened since the storm and some hurricane background shared for Granddaughter who will have to know the truth.

It's a Pampered Pets post, but a bit sad.

For three little graves now dot the lot of Serendipity Shore.

But there's good news.

Lucy Eightclaws is ready to hunt Iraqi Mice.

Why the "Eightclaws"? Because...well it's a good story.

Lots of Comments this week.

Some more comments on the Gaza Strip. Also, hummingbird wars, Lyme disease and a left wing moonbat rant that will scare the hell out of you.

The New Orleans' Police-What Happened?

If there is a scandal, perhaps even a lesson, to come from the Katrina tragedy, it is the desertion by over a third of the NO police department in the aftermath of the storm.

The scandal part is that before leaving town, quite a few of these police went on a little shopping spree first. For which they didn't pay, of course.

The spin coming from Louisiana is that many of these police themselves had family they couldn't locate as well as destroyed homes. Others had no access to communication and ran out of ammunition.

The summary being a FEW NO cops were heroes. Many were thieves and thugs, no better than the criminals they police. The majority, I suspect, were victims of an overwhelming disaster without communication and the confusion stemming from this dangerous situation.

It's understandable. It also brings to light what I consider a false premise on which this country's entire disaster plan is based. Said premise being that "first responders" should always be locals with the Feds coming into the picture at their direction and request.

Katrina taught us a very important lesson. First responders themselves are likely victims of the disaster then upon. It's a bad premise to count on them to coordinate federal disaster aid.

Two NO cops also committed suicide in the depth of their despair.

From the NY Times:

NEW ORLEANS, Sept. 3 - Reeling from the chaos of this overwhelmed city, at least 200 New Orleans police officers have walked away from their jobs and two have committed suicide, police officials said on Saturday.

Saddam Allegedly Admits Guilt
Meanwhile, over in Iraq, reports are that Saddam had admitted guilt in ordering the murders of his citizens.

DUH.

From the Tuscaloosanews.com:
Iraq's president said Tuesday that Saddam Hussein had confessed to "crimes" including killings committed during his regime.

President Jalal Talabani told Iraqi television that he had been informed by an investigating judge that "he was able to extract confessions from Saddam's mouth" about crimes "such as executions" which the ousted leader had personally ordered.

Talabani said that some of the confessions involved cases actively under investigation but he did not specify them. The ousted leader faces his first trial Oct. 19 for his alleged role in the massacre of Shiites in Dujail, a town north of Baghdad in 1982.
