Editorial-Those Duke Boys Are Not Heroes

Here's some editorial stuff and it's a rant.

For those young Duke boys falsely charged with rape should not become society's darlings. They sure exercised some bad taste and used another human being very sordidly.

I'm not letting up on those boys that they not get wealthy from their books without admitting the error of their ways.

Those Duke Boys Will Never Be Heroes Until They Do One Thing

It was the first time one of those three Duke Lacrosse players spoke publicly. It was Reade Seligman I think but the one that looks like the Monkee singer who wore that knit cap, Colin Finnerty, was also out and about and talking to the world. Several of the boys' parents were also speaking publicly.

It was Rush Limbaugh who I heard commenting on what was being said and I couldn't believe my ears. No, it wasn't what Rush was repeating what was being said or even Rush's comments on that travesty of a prosecution known as the Duke Lacrosse case in pop culture terms and personified by the evil Mike Nifong.

Oh no. It was my beloved Rush Limbaugh speaking of those boys in the breathless voice of a grown man admiring a hero.

I wanted to puke.

Understand that I love Rush Limbaugh, yes I do, although he really hates me.

What's that, you say? Why would mighty Rush Limbaugh be bothered one way or the other with a humble Blogger read by two or three people every other day? Well I don't know but I know that whenever there's a post I write about him, either here on once on another Blog...Blogcritics, Rush is on the air commenting about it. Perhaps other listeners don't know what he refers to in those rare and oblique references to my own fine self but I know he does it.

So I know that I can write about Mr. Limbaugh unfettered because like he said one day before he uttered another word during his program..."why should I help a Blogger, a BLOGGER...", a term he used rather derisively. I'd remind Rush how several of our congress critters referred to "TALK RADIO" hosts in the same derisive type terms but never mind, Rush isn't reading this.

Because there's something about Rush Limbaugh, indeed conservative males in general, that worries me and I'm going to keep fighting.

But folks, while I love men and I love conservative men in particular, they can be damn mean to fragile females if we anger them.

Mike NifongBecause those Duke boys are going to write a book one day as does everyone who achieves some sort of fame. If we're lucky the prohibition of such a book might well be part of the settlement those boys made with Duke University and I hope so. For these boys are NOT heroes and yes it was disconcerting to hear my own hero, Rush Limbaugh, speak of them in such reverential terms.

Let's not forget please that those boys were part of a testosterone-fueled group of kids who thought it their divine right to phone up a service and order a "black" stripper, please don't forget they specified a stripper of color. Why? Also don't forget that horrific email one of those fine lads sent out to his friends stating the Lacrosse team's intention to skin the stripper alive or some such terrible talk. No the emailer wasn't one of the three fingered by the lying Chrystal Magnum but it's not like she knew who the hell she was picking out as she pointed at random at three players from the four pictures Nifong's people showed her. Let's also not forget that there was a phone call called into the police referring to epithets of "nigger" being flung at those strippers by somebody or somebodies inside of that house.

In summary, those Lacrosse players behaved boorishly and in general were considered boorish by the Duke students. Not to mention, as I go on to my main point, that ordering a stripper is just plain sleazy and this is the part the conservative males in my surround hate for me to mention. This is mostly because conservative males despise anything that sounds like the Women's libbers of the past and indeed even mighty Rush takes pride in calling them the NAGS.

So to suggest that it's not a good thing for society to make females into sexual objects is a reminder of the NAGS and the conservative males will bite off a female head and chew it up should she dare to mention that stripping, pornography and prostitituion are not good things for a decent society. Every one of these activities require the enthusiastic participation of the males in our society.

I chanced to participate in a thread on a group web site that I quite enjoy but I won't mention the site name. The site is very conservative, that's my only hint. The thread was about Mike Nifong as his trial was ongoing and a thread was started for commentary. One poster began to get carried away and started posting on and on about those wonderful Lacrosse boys and this required my subtle intervention.

Ladies and gems the male conservatives participating in that thread were so damn mean to me I'm still not quite over it. They told me that men get sexually excited by a woman's naked body in case my frigid self didn't know this. They said stripping was a legal activity so I need to get over it because if they've got the money they've got the right. Indeed the whole bunch of these apeshit conservative men said that I must be ugly and JEALOUS of those strippers as no man with working eyeballs would dare gaze upon my own naked and decrepit body. Of course these fine male posters were likely the picture of handsome loveliness.

Here's the secret.....conservative men tend to think that the women's libbers of yore have totally emasculated them into the wimps that so many men today are, although I might add that Rush Limbaugh, the mightiest of conservative men got caught with Viagara and what manly man needs a drug to function? I always throw in that comment because it makes Rush so damn mad but to me it illustrates the power of a humble Blogger. So when conservative men hear from a woman that this male behavior is boorish and unacceptable in a society that should cherish and protect its female citizenry, well conservative men don't like it because, well they LIKE to watch women strip and they don't want us women to get high on our horses and complain about it. One fine conservative male poster even put a picture of what he called a church lady sitting on a high horse. Males will behave badly without the soft cautionary touch of a female hand to stay their urges. I figure this is my job and while Rush Limbaugh is an all mighty conservative, he IS a man. He thought the lying, conniving Valerie Plame was a "babe" so go with me, it's on a conservative women to fill in the blanks left by Rush's testicles.

I'm not making this up, folks. Those "Men" on that thread, using the term loosely here, were so mean it was amazing. Now I understand why women so very seldom dare to complain about the boorish and unchivalrous behavior of men while they behaving boorish and unchivalrous. Women tend to be the meeker of the two sexes and who needs it? Yes I think the harpies who have taken over the cause of equality for women have overstated the cause and do not speak for most heterosexual females. But once upon a time women were really paid less than a man doing the same job, women really were mistreated on the job, women really were treated as sex objects that didn't bring out the finest in our males.

Seligman, Finnerty, et al, have yet to mention that their bad choice in hiring a stripper for their team party was, well, a bad choice. Their parents haven't said this either. You can believe if I had a boy in college who was hiring strippers and participating in raucous parties I'd be all over him for is that why we sent him to college? And don't tell me it happens every day, that young men are driven by hormones, yada, yada. As conservatives will readily opine, we've lost our ability to JUDGE others. Indeed the liberal mindset, as the conservatives complain, is such that we have no right to judge others, that we should allow others to live their lives doing what they like and not sit in judgement of their behavior. So if a passionate couple wants to disrobe and make wild love on public transport, it's not for us to JUDGE them. If our neighbors place all manner of junk automobiles all over their front lawn we should not JUDGE them. OR so goes the liberal mindset as the conservatives lament.

So hey, conservative males in my surround, I am going to JUDGE those Duke boys. I am going to JUDGE that their behavior in hiring that stripper was horrendous and dumb. I am going to JUDGE them and were I a young woman I wouldn't date any of them, not even if you paid me. In fact I can say I was right particular about the men in my life and, indeed, they were like a bus: you missed one another one came right along. No I wasn't ugly and I had plenty of men. Most women do, you know, it's the nature of the species.

Now my mandatory disclaimer: I do not think that Nifong's or Magnum's treatment of this whole matter was right in any fashion or do I think any of those very dumb, hooting and hollering, "take-it-off" shouting, ball-bearing monkeys posing as civilized American males deserved what happened to them. In fact I think Nifong AND Ms. Magnum should be thrown in jail. Taking away the freedom of innocent citizens is against the most basic of tenets of this country's premise and founding. Nifong and Magnum are despicable human beings. Those totally classless boys...hey all they have to do, them or their loving parents who have YET to mention the stupidity of their sons, all they have to do is admit the error of their ways.

Then I will admire them.

Oh, wow, your above commentary is riddled with errors.

They did not order a black stripper, they ordered a white and hispanic. Of course, feminazis and race panderers then proclaims that this, then, is racist. Order a black stripper - racist. Order a white stripper - racist.

If you are going to castigate the lacrosse players for hiring a stripper, what do you say about the women being strippers? If there were no women willing to strip for strangers, no one would hire them. Be a stripper - no problem, it's a woman's right. Order a stripper - sexist and dehumanizing to women.

The lacrosse players have apologized numerous times for their error in judgment for a) throwing a party during spring break (gee, that never happens anywhere else in the USA), and b) ordering strippers (gee, that never happens with any other college kids, male or female, in the USA). To date, I believe they are the only people involved to have issued any apology, save N&O editor Ruth, sort of.

The emails referring to skinning the stripper were a parody of a book/movie "American Psycho", required reading in several Duke classes. All of the intended recipients got the reference, only the uninformed like yourself did not.

The 911 phone call reporting the racial epithets was made by none other than - the second stripper, Kim Roberts, and was determined to be a false report. Not that it would matter to you, but Ms. Roberts started the racist taunting.

You really should learn facts before you publicly make a fool of yourself.

I must thank this anonymous conservative male for providing me with justification for my commentary.

Those boys have NEVER, not ever not once let the record show, EVER, said they regretted hiring a stripper. Quit saying it, it's not true.

I have not seen any reports that the "nigger" reference was a false report although the commenter is correct, it was the second stripper who called it in and last interview I saw her on she said it was true. It was NEVER deemed to be a false report....the woman called it in...it's a fact, how the hell can it be false?

This is what they do, ladies and gems. They pick on the females who JUDGE them for boorish behavior. They lie or just make up words.

I think being a stripper is a dumb thing to be but go on, there's very few females standing up proud and stating that they are a stripper. And if little girls express a desire to grow up and be a fabulous stripper they are hastily disabused or made known that that is not a desireable career.

Listen, hiring a stripper or going to strip bars is sleazy. I think men that do this are sleazy. I don't care if hormone addled males across the planet hire strippers every damn day of the week I STILL think it's sleazy.

And it every female on this planet could somehow close her eyes and wish that the men they love, including sons, husbands and boyfriends, would NOT watch or hire strippers you can believe these females would wish it. But they don't express this out loud because the kind men who like engaging in this sleazy behavior beat them up. Women do NOT like this in the men in their life.

Again, those boys have NEVER issued any expression of regret or have their parents. I've had links sent to me and never have they said how dumb it was.

As for the skinning the stripper, go on, I don't care if the literary reference comes from Shakespeare, it was inappropriate and tends to give some idea of the ball-bearing mindset of these young boys.

It's boorish, sleazy behavior. Maybe we can't stop it but why keep defending it?

Oh...and did yon readers get the "feminazi" reference?

Heh.

Probably not worth the time, since it appears about 5 people read this tripe but, why should anything K Roberts says about being called the "n" word be believed. Her 911 phone call to DPD was a fitting start to this hoax since it was filled with lies - ie she claimed to have just been walking by 610 Buchanan street and was verbally assualted by the beastly white men. Then later in the call she internally contradicts herself and says the horrendous verbal assault began as she drove by 610. On 60 minutes she asserts that she was the first party to take things down the racial road. You may hitch your horse to the second strippers claim of being called "n" based on her penchant for truthfullness - but I sure wouldn't.

Your claim that the boys and parents have never apologized for holding the party is patently untrue. Go to WRAL - at the DHC hearing itself Dave Evans father told of the apologies that Dave Evans made to the college. Dave Evans himself on 60 minutes apologized for the party.

It's pretty apparent you don't know much about this case, I've read every blog, read every motion, seen every hearing that's been televised. You really don't want to go up against my knowledge of this case.

http://www.google.com/search?q=Duke+Paula+McClain&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&aq=t&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-a

On page 4 of the NC AG report on this case he states that Dan Flannerty asked for 2 white dancers when phoning in his request. Thus your horror that these white men would ask for black dancers appears to be as unfounded as your general lack of knowledge about this case would indicate.

When faced with the 2 non-white dancers showing up, I suppose they could have sent them back, only to be faced with accusations of racism for NOT wanting black strippers.

I am glad you have such horror and revulsion for men who enjoy strippers and drinking. I am sure any children you raised were paragons of virtue during their college careers at Brigham Young Univerisity. I guess you await fervently the re Talibinization of America.

Although it is probably as useful as trying to explain this to a fish, I can vouch for the above commentor's comments on the apologies and other facts.

To date, all three captains have apologized, in person, to: 1)all of the team members, 2) their parents and families, 3) their teammates' parents, 4) Mike Pressler, 5) Mike Pressler's family, 6) Duke administrators. I am sure that there are many more, I just don't know about them. In other words, they've apologized to every one they should have.

Of course, I'm sure you think some more are due. It is obvious from the rest of your rant that you fully believe it is your duty to impose your morals on others.

Ladies and Gems,

NONE of those boys have EVER apologized or expressed any remorse for having that party I simply do not care what the above commenters say.

As for ordering a black , white or hispanic stripper, which seems to be so important to the commenters....I'll allow I could be wrong about this. I've read in plenty of places that they requested a black stripper but I'm not sure.

I AM sure they've never expressed any regret although lots of people keep saying they did. Maybe I'm looking for something different than "It sure was bad luck...." or some such.

I'll know regret and sorrow for boorish behavior when I hear it and I ain't heard it.

Now I will not comment any further but anyone who wishes to comment can certainly do so. Please do not misinterpret my lack of response as acquiescence to the lovers of strippers who continually want to defend their enjoyment of this classy form of entertainment.

Their nastiness serves to prove my original contention...ie that men can be damn mean, DAMN MEAN, when defending that which gives them pleasure, no matter how sleazy it is.
