True Crime-The 54 Million Dollar Pants and Nifong's Trial

Here's a True Crime Update and it's so sad but some parents don't deserve the name.

For we've a fellow attempting to kill children for their life insurance and a fine mother selling her young daughters as prostitutes.

Also, plenty about Nifong as he tries to weasle out of his despicable behavior at Duke university.

How about that attorney suing those poor Koreans for millions for messing up a pair of pants?

Finally, he committed the murder in 1964. Last week he was finally indicted.

Nifong's Day in Court

Well I'm convinced that a deal was struck as regards Mike Nifong and I'm not sure I agree with it.

From the NY TIMES:
RALEIGH, N.C., June 16 — In a case that has brought one surprise after another, a disciplinary hearing panel found Michael B. Nifong, the Durham County district attorney, guilty today of ethical violations while pressing a false accusation of sexual assault against three former Duke University lacrosse players. The panel then ruled that Mr. Nifong should be disbarred.

So Mike Nifong, esteemed prosecutor from North Carolina, who systematically, regularly and with plenty of forethought, continued to fashion, carve, create an outright lie about evidence he was gathering to prosecute three Duke Lacrosse players who were accused of raping a stripper hired to entertain at a party for the Lacrosse team. The stripper, Chrystal Magnum, was evidently lying and there's been plenty of reports that this lady has lied about sexual assaults in the past.

Mike NifongJust as soon as I heard about Nifong's tearful resignation from his position I knew the fix was in. First, why on earth did it take so damn long for somebody, ANYBODY, to put an end to that joke of a prosecution as it continually unfolded before the public's disbelieving eyes? From March of 2006 when the incident occurred, on through the end of that year, this case continued even though the alleged rapists provided alibi after alibi. Nifong himself had exculpatory evidence in that the DNA tests revealed that stripper had not one particle of the defendents' DNA on her but she sure had plenty of other unknown male DNA on, and in, her.

I believe the deal was for Nifong to resist a strong defense in his ethics case. In fact, Nifong willingly resigned during the trial. I think Nifong should be brought up on criminal charges because ladies and gems, if he could have gotten away with it, Nifong would have put those three young men in jail. That's the part that angers me so much that this awful man's resignation will never quell. He would have put away three innocent people, abusing his power and destroying this country's justice system in the process. All so he could retire on the higher salary of the elected DA, justice be damned.

Further, I think the bitch who deliberately lied about the rape should be tried. Chrystal Magnum hurt ALL victims of REAL sexual abuse and rape with her blatant lie. This woman purposefully and with no reticence picked out three young men willy-nilly to be tried for crimes that she KNEW they did not commit.

Now I understand that Duke university has settled with the three boys charged and it should as they expelled those boys on no evidence at all besides Nifong and Magnum's lying allegations.

While I figure those boys deserve financial remuneration for their suffering I'll fight to the death that they are NOT heroes. Hiring a stripper was just a dumb, dumb, dumb thing to do, it doesn't make you more manly, in fact I can't think of anything more un-manly than a bunch of testosterone-laden adolescents hooting and hollering at some poor drug-addled stripper to "take it off", the whole sleaze of it makes me want to puke. If any of those boys at that party had been my boyfriend I'd have thrown his pathetic pimply-faced butt over the bow toot de sweet. Don't tell me not, I've done that sort of thing plenty of times for men, ladies and gems, are like a bus. Miss one and another one comes along. I never had a shortage of them and most decent woman don't want a loser for a boyfriend who must hire strippers for lack of loving and genuine female companionship.

Sure I know young men hire strippers or go to strip bars but don't expect me to think it's okay. I think it's a sleazy thing for men to get involved in but hey, it's legal. Doesn't mean I have to like it or associate with these pathetics.

Those boys would do well to warn other young men away from this money and time-wasting activity and THEN, well then I might admire them. Until then, while I'll never, ever condone what happened to them, I'll always think they're very small, small "men".

A Whole Web Site Dedicated to the Dumb Amongst Us

Who knew? To all True Crime afficianados, a world without dumb criminals is a boring world indeed. As a public service, this information provided as received in my own Ebox.
DUMB CRIMINALS

As the relentless pursuit for new dumb criminals pursues, check each day for more ridiculous tales! New stories updated several times a week, so there's always something new. Hilarious and occasionally just appalling!

Convicted!

Two young people were thrown into the trunk of a car while still alive. They were driven to a lake and weights were hung on their still living and terrified bodies. They were then thrown into the lake to drown.

Finally their murderer has been convicted for this crime which happened in 1964.

From Foxnews.com:
JACKSON, Miss. — A federal jury on Thursday convicted reputed Klansman James Ford Seale of kidnapping and conspiracy in the 1964 deaths of two black teenagers in southwest Mississippi.

Seale, 71, had pleaded not guilty to charges related to the deaths of Charles Eddie Moore and Henry Hezekiah Dee. The 19-year-olds disappeared from Franklin County on May 2, 1964, and their bodies were found later in the Mississippi River.

Mary Winkler's Sentence

From Yahoo.com:
SELMER, Tenn. - A woman who killed her preacher husband with a shotgun blast to the back as he lay in bed was sentenced Friday to three years in prison, but with time served could be released on probation in a little more than two months.

This verdict and sentence is almost as bad as the OJ verdict.

Matthew Winkler deserved to live. He sure didn't deserve a bullet in his back while he slept innocently in his bed. His daughter testified that her father was a good man and there had been no sign of any abuse during his marriage to Mary Winkler.

Mary Winkler, however, said Matthew wanted her to wear a wig while they had sex. Of course this is bad shit and the fellow should be shot for such a thing.

What will really be interesting is whether Mary will get her children back. She took away their father; can they still love her?

Forced Her Daughters Into Prostitution

Here's a fine and loving mother, from Honduras by the way, one of those countries currently exporting so much of its population illegally into our own country.

From Chron.com:
A 16-year-old girl endured being sold into prostitution by her mother but finally went to Houston police after seeing her younger sister also forced to perform sex acts, investigators said Wednesday.

The teenager had complied with her mother — who even distributed business cards offering her daughters for sex — but feared that her 14-year-old sister would be hurt, officers said.

This mother-of-the-year prostituted her daughters with the help of a 21-year-old boyfriend.

You simply cannot make this stuff up.

Killing Young Children for Insurance Money

Young women with children are the preferred date mates for the lovely Joel Zellmer. This fine fellow would find a single mother with a young child, start a relationship, take out some insurance on the young child and through the years he's amassed quite a history of bizarre and unusual accidents of the children in his charge. In December of 2003 Zellmer evidently finally managed to kill a 3-year-old-girl by drowning her in the swimming pool.

From KOMOTV.com:
SEATTLE -- An Auburn man accused of drowning his 3-year-old stepdaughter pleaded not guilty Wednesday morning to first-degree murder and theft.

Joel Zellmer was arrested last week for the 2003 drowning death of Ashley McLellan and is being held in the King County Jail on $5 million bail.

Prosecutors say Zellmer killed the young girl to collect on a $200,000 insurance policy.

He managed to kill Ashley. Read the article to see how many other children he almost managed to kill, including the one with two broken legs.

The $54 Million Dollar Pants

Here's a story that's been making the human interest news segments. Seems a fellow, an esteemed judge as it would happen, put some suits into the dry cleaners to be alterated. One suit was returned with the wrong pair of pants. This made Roy Pearson very angry.

From the Chicago Tribune:
WASHINGTON -- A judge representing himself in a lawsuit left court with tears running down his face Tuesday after recalling the lost pair of trousers that led him to sue a dry cleaner for $54 million.

Pearson filed a lawsuit against The Chungs, the Korean owners of the dry cleaners being taken to the cleaners by this judge.

There's some interesting aspects to this story.

From Foxnews.com:
Pearson had sent a letter to the Chungs demanding $1,150 compensation (despite the Chungs producing the pants that matched the receipt) or else he would "sue them for not less that $50,000."

Nonetheless, Pearson maintained throughout the cross that he was entitled to "unconditional satisfaction" under the Washington, D.C.'s Consumer Protection Act.

That bit about D.C.'s "Consumer Protection Act" is a bugaboo according to some of the legal beagles who have spoke on Fox or Nancy Grace. Consumer Protection Acts, as a rule, are problematic as so many promises made in normal advertising are subjective. Thus a dry cleaners that advertised "unconditional satisfaction" is expected to give unconditional satisfaction and a customer who is not so satisfied can sue via the Consumer Protection Act until unconditional satisfaction is achieved. In the case of this fine judge he will not be satisfied until he received $54,000,000.

What's even odder, as of this writing, the judge presiding in this case will not be rendering a verdict until the end of this week. Speculation is that the judge is so wary of this plaintiff that she will be poring all legal documents and seeking legal assistance before dealing with this fellow.

Is it a hoot and yet the whole thing is a kind of ironic combination of unreasonable laws, people and a legal system with few boundaries.

Madeleine McCann's Eye

Maddie McCann went missing from her parent's hotel room when they went out to dinner one evening and upon return to the room Maddie was missing. Since then there's been reports that a psychic is giving police reports of where Maddie's body might be found. For what this is worth. So far nothing new as regards the investigation.

This tidbit passed through my Ebox and it is an important clue as to the identity of Madeleine McCann.
Maddie McCain's IrisHer right eye

Mrs McCann said: "The purpose of the poster is to highlight the distinction in Madeleine's eye.

"We want to make the most of it, because we know her hair could potentially be cut or dyed."

If It Isn't a Crime Perhaps It Should Be

This story is tending to develop below the radar but by me there's something really wrong with this picture.

From MSNBC.com:
SELMER, Tenn. - A tearful mother of two teenage girls killed when a speeding dragster skidded into a crowd demanded answers on Monday, saying the high-powered car should never have been on a city street.

It seems that the act of having these street dragsters spin their wheels on a public street then take off in a roaring start, a display called a "burnout exhibition". One driver's car went out of control and plowed into a crowd of people standing alongside the road. Six people were killed and 23 others were injured. The driver of the car has since been incommunicado. Investigative authorities into this seem to be unsure what to do.

The death of six people is serious stuff. We'll be keeping an eye on how this develops.
