MasterChef 2016 - Season 7, episode 3-Puck and Potatoes

Wolfgang and a box of potatoes provide the challenge that had them winning or going home.

If it's about food preparation of any kind, Wolfgang Puck is bound to show up and, indeed, on the most recent episode of Master Chef when he enthralled the gang of amateur chefs with his very presence.

Puck gave the contenders a mystery box filled with potatoes and preparing a nice potato dish was the first challenge of this episode.

Cassie made some kind of dreadful potato dish which got her sent packing. Andrea was the winner and her reward is not having to cook in the elimination challenge and the choice to pull out the females or the males from having to compete.

I suspect because the field is down to 20 contenders and it's hard to have 20 dishes to critique in one hour episode. Whatever the case, Cassie saved the girls so it was only the guys who had to compete in the next challenge.

It was an odd challenge. Chef Ramsey made a dish consisting of a fish, some vegetables, and a sauce. The challenge was for the guys to re-create Ramsay's dish which they could only watch but not take notes.

It would turn out that the fish Ramsay used was halibut with sweet potatoes and cauliflower couscous. The sauce was made from olive oil and stock.

Terry created a great reproduction but Nathan did well. Bill-62 years old, used shoepeg corn in the couscous though I won't mock. I have no idea what couscous is made of and I would never have guess cauliflower in the couscous.

Bill was sent home while young D'Andre almost got the boot.

The three top scorers from this challenge get to be captains in the next big challenge.

Whatever that will be and yon reader should come back next week where we'll be learning how to cook once again.
