Dancing With the Stars Season 23-Let's take a look at 13 contenders to start the season.

We've got former Governors, midgets, football players, and dancers with memories that amaze. Come take a look at this season's contenders for Dancing With the Stars Season 23.

Along with America's Got Talent, Dancing With the Stars has captured the imagination, intrigue and attention of America.

This show will begin the competition on 9/12/16, of course on ABC.

There's always a combination of football players, a politico for laughs, an older person or two, always someone from Disney channel and this year we have a couple of Olympic athletes.

I took a look at the contenders and their partners and one thing you know about Dancing With the Stars is that the best partner dancers will probably get the best dancers. Using this logic we can randomly throw out there some contenders to be on the lookout for.



Next we have Maksim Chmerkovskiy. Teamed up with Amber Rose. It's rather mysterious who or what Amber Rose is but it has something to do with Kanye West.

Maksim is considered a good partner so we're thinking this Amber Rose will shine on the dance floor.



Or course we must have a football player and this year we have Calvin Johnson, a wide receiver who will dance with professional partner Lindsay Arnold.



We also have Rick Perry, former Governor of Texas, dancing with Emma Slater. Always got to have one awkward politico.



I do not know professional partner Jenna Johnson but she's teamed up with Jake T. Austin, a member of Disney's "The Wizards of Waverly Place".

First, Disney dancers are always young and second, they almost always come in top three. Thus I consider that Jenna Johnson must really know how to cut a rug to be paired with a partner likely to place in the top five.



They like to get race car drivers on this series and we have James Hinchcliffe who will be dancing with Sharna Burgess.

Race car drivers can dance, like anyone else, but you got to wonder why THIS sport, which is done mostly sitting down.



Finally we have Jana Kramer, billed as a "country sensation" so I suppose she is a singer of some sort. She will be partnering with Gleb Savchenko.



Kenny Edmonds has won 11 grammys though I never heard of him. His nickname is "Baby Face". Edmonds will be dancing with Allison Holker.



There is another professional dance partner, Valentin Chmerkovskiy.

I suppose Valentin is related to Maksim and Valentin is paired with another Olympic champion, Laurie Hernandez, a gymnast.

We're thinking Laurie, Ryan and Jake are ones to watch.



Now Derek Hough left DWS, then returned, then hurt himself, or whatever, whatever. He is teamed with former Taxi star Marilu Henner, who is over 60 years old so it's a wonder that perhaps Derek won't be dancing so long in Season 23.

Henner is also known for her amazing memory. Give her a date and she can tell you what day of the week it was on and what she was doing.



Maureen McCormick is most well known for playing Marsha on the Brady Bunch. Marsha is now 60 years old and she will be dancing with Artem Chigvintsev.



Cheryl Burke is a prized partner on this show and she is teamed up with Ryan Lochte. Lochte is the Olympic athlete who got into a strange kerfluffle in a Rio gas station. We think Ryan's going to shine, both because he's a champion swimmer, got good legs, and second, they wouldn't put Cheryl Burke with just anybody.



Terra Jole is a star of "Little Women", literally little women in that Jole is a midget or dwarf, not sure which.

Which should be interesting for Sasha Farber. who will be her partner.



Everyone knows Vanilla Ice I would think, mostly famous for being a white rapper. Ice will be dancing with professional partner Witney Carson and he should be fun to watch.

So there we begin, starting with 13 as we always need an odd number for the dolt knocked out the first night.

I think Governor Rick Perry might take that title as politicos are seldom good dancers.
