It was many different and unusual culinary talents used during this two episode show of MasterChef.
Oh my goodness, but let me get it all straight in my head.
The evening began with seven contenders left: Tanorria, David, Dan, Katie, Brandi, Shaun, Nathan.
As is the norm for this cooking competitive reality show, it begins with a mystery box which has….eh, odd ingredients.
On this night there was a skillet, a knife and a fork along with other culinary ingredients.
With those basic utensils, and with Chef Gordon Ramsay participating in the challenge, the contenders come up with lamb chops, stuffed shrimp with Dan improvising and making ribs or chops of some kind on a grocery cart.

The winner of this challenge was Brandi, her entrée below.
I must suppose because there was extra time, there was then yet ANOTHER cooking challenge. Brandi went to the infamous balcony after pairing people for the next challenge.
Brandi paired Shaun with Nathan-a pairing which proved fatal, David with Katie and Tanooria with Dan.
During this challenge Nathan, a very young and somewhat emotional fellow, broke down and had to be talked down by none other than Chef Ramsay.
Which might have figured into Nathan's elimination but the judges didn't like their meal.
The challenge then was to prepare a romantic picnic lunch. Katie and David won this challenge with their picnic luncheon featuring Scotch eggs, cookies and lobster rolls.
Then, if viewers are not really hungry by now, we have yet ANOTHER cooking challenge.
They call this segment "pop up" restaurant. A building somewhere is turned into a restaurant with invited diners to judge the culinary teams.
Katie was in charge of the red team which included Shaun, Dan and of course herself.
David was in charge of the red team which included Brandi, Tanorria and himself.
Whew.
For the restaurant the teams had to prepare pan-seared scallops, quails eggs, oysters rockefeller, poached lobster tail and filet mignon. The diners judged and chose the read team.
One funny comment by a diner in this pop up restaurant segment had him declaring that he lives on the Chesapeake Bay and he knows his scallops.
I too lived on the Chesapeake Bay most of my life and it is not really known far and wide for scallops. Crabs are the food of the Chesapeake Bay but hey, the guy was on TV and wanted to look important.
Finally we have three contenders, the Red team, who lost the restaurant challenge.
It's called a "pressure challenge" and it's the final step on MasterChef to determine who will be going home.
Dan, Katie and Shaun were charged with making three specific desserts out of chocolate…milk chocolate, white chocolate and dark chocolate.
Now this was quite a challenge…those desserts were complicated. Eclairs, cheesecakes and a mousse.
These MasterChefs are supposed to be amateur chefs. How many home cooks could make all of that within an hour?
Katie's lava cake had uncooked middles and was booed by the judges. Dan's was runny as well. Lots of confabs between the judges and Shaun was chosen to go on.
Sent home-KATIE
There are five left-Dan, Shaun, Tanorria, David and Brandi.
Do I care to make any predictions? I don't think Shaun is going to go through to win. Not sure about Tanorria.
Like Chef Ramsay himself said, on her way to a possible win, I'm going with BRANDI!
