The Week Just Passed: Rummy Takes an Undeserved Beating

The Week Just Passed: Notes of important events from the week prior as Grandmother has determined, not the Old Media. With, as expected, Grandmother’s input

Most Under-Reported Story of the Week
There Are Actually TWO Under-Reported Stories This Week

And both of them involve religious persecution. One is taking place in Iran, that freedom-loving bastion of humanity. Seems the all-wise Mullahs have sentenced a young woman to death for being a prostitute. There’s lots of other ugly garbage about this story, such as the girl’s mother forcing her into the “business” when she was eight and the repetitive “selling” of the girl to various men.

From Amnesty.Org

Iran: Girl With Mental Age of Eight Given Death Sentence After Mother Forced Her Into Prostitution From Early Age

A 19-year old girl, “Leyla M”, who has a mental age of eight, reportedly faces imminent execution for “morality-related” offences after being forced into prostitution by her mother as a child. According to a Tehran newspaper report of 28 November, she was sentenced to death by a court in the central Iranian city of Arak and the sentence has now been passed to the Supreme Court for confirmation.

The second story involves religious persecution. The location is the United States of America and the “crime” is daring to read scriptures at a Gay parade.

Now such as interrupting a parade might be considered rude, no matter the interruption. These people face up to 47 years in jail, think about it, for reading the bible!

From CNS News

Four people who were arrested during a confrontation at an annual homosexual pride event in Philadelphia could spend up to 47 years in prison for public reading of Scripture, an attorney for a pro-family organization said on Thursday.

The ‘I Tole You So’ Dept.

Again, I must quote myself:

Remember hate crimes, ladies and germs? Another liberal concoction, the fact that death is somehow worse when administered because of hate as opposed to, say armed robbery.

I remember this case vaguely. A scheduled black speaker at a college had her car vandalized and covered with racial epithets. There was extensive media coverage of the incident though we hear very little follow up.

Which may because the woman HERSELF staged the stunt and used the fawning media to label it a ‘hate crime’. Last week the woman was sentenced to a year in jail for her little joke. Just one of the silly results in trying to determine emotions while a crime was committed. People, hey this might come as a surprise to liberals, LIE about their emotions all the time.

The subject of her speech that night? Racial tolerance.

Professor Gets Year in Prison for Fake 'Hate Crime'

Remember that left-wing egghead at Claremont McKenna College who vandalized her own car and then cried "hate crime"? Today she got sentenced to a year in the slammer.

Watch to Hit the Radar Early Next Year

Democrats Take on the Back Seat

Came across an interesting blurb about a Democrat group of congress critters is going to form some sort of “commission” to oversee various administration actions. They deny, of course, that it’s ‘gotcha’ politics, though that is exactly what it is going to be.

Items they are going to “review” include contract abuses in Iraq, mistakes by the administration in the Iraq war, mistakes by the administration on budget items, mistakes by the administration on any subject they deem a mistake.

Come on please on this day of our Lord, we all KNOW what this is going to be. Senator Dorgan of North Dakota is a member of this brain trust is alleged in charge of this clucking cabal of backseat drivers.

Naturally the media will be all over this, making signs of the cross and assuring us that this is a normal oversight process of any democracy. The Dems will proceed to do a hatchet job and carry the party water, no mind what is actually BEST for the country.

I only have one comment but it’s an important one. Should the Repubs pay me no heed than I will always have the URL of this entry and can always quote myself. If the day ever comes when the Dems are in charge again, the Repubs should also form these “oversight” committees and use it for party spin and lies. Right now, that’s all that can be threatened because hey, if done honestly and decent, such oversight bodies can be a good thing.

If the Repubs are going to continue playing this political game they have to play by the same rules as the Dems. You lose a lot of poker games when your opponent is playing with black Jacks wild and you’re not.

Oh, and don’t forget, Byron Dorgan, right down south of you Tom Daschle got kicked out last election. North Dakota is a RED state.

Creating an Enemy

Seems a few Republicans learned an infamous Democratic tactic. That vaunted sport of creating an enemy.

The Clintons were experts at this sport. Consider poor honest and gentle Ken Starr, the villain of the 90’s.

Now we have McCain, Hagel and Lott all out stumping and giving Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld a hard time.

Two things pop into my head. First, perhaps I’m stupid, But I think Rummy is doing a wonderful job. I am not a person of extremely high intelligence. Of course I am not associated with the military in any fashion. I do keep up to date on the War and am fairly well read. Rumsfeld has said or did nothing that has eroded my impression that he has things under control. Us idiots out here in la-la land, hey, we dig wells and fix our carpets; we have teenagers learning to drive and we schedule parties to entertain. This is not to use events or activities not germane to such as running a war in a light fashion. What it does mean is that we know everything does not go according to any exact plan. Never. The liberals, I don’t know, maybe everything they do is perfect and right. Perhaps they are blessed.

When I extrapolate the horror of planning my last party I cannot imagine the gazillion logistics involved in running a war. Everything, from food to morale to administration to bathrooms has to be dealt with in the most difficult of scenarios. Hey, I get it.

Anyway, I think I’m right about Rumsfeld because as someone should tell the liberals, a 95% IS STILL AN “A”!

So why are the Republicans making Rumsfeld the enemy? Which is all any critic of Rumsfeld is trying to do as the man is an A student. Hmmmm, Lott, well he has an axe to grind. McCain, well he would like to be next secretary of defense. Hagel? He’s McCain’s RINO buddy.

It’s a non-win issue and these guys are going to look stupider than the Democrats. If that’s even possible.
