TV: Amber Frey Makes Her Debut

The TV is mostly background noise to Grandmother but at times there may be a show actually worth attention.

Another Matt Sheppard I Tole You So

The NY Times of all institutions praises ABC for airing its show about Matthew Sheppard, a homosexual who was murdered brutally. The perpetrators were alleged to have done the deed merely because of their victim’s sexuality.

The Wise I recommended the show the very week it aired and have since kept up with the commentary over same.

A local media critic notes:

You know there must be something happening when the New York Times praises ABC News for running "an intellectually brave episode" of the "20/20" show that has angered the homosexual lobby.

The point being, ladies and germs, is that here we are, some twenty years after the crime, all analyzing and re-investigating that crime and discover, voila, Matt Shepphard was a two bit drug dealer that got involved with some no-goodniks already high and hey, it was a damn drug crime.

The liberals across the country wanted to enact a gazillion laws making something called a “hate crime” which would be separate and distinct from other crimes, a new criminal act. A notion so incredibly stupid as to boggle the mind.

You kill someone, its murder. You rob from them, it’s theft. To go deeper than that to determine the motives and emotions of the perpetrator, well what happens if I kill someone because I “love” them? Do I get a lighter sentence?

On Mon, 1/3, at 8 pm, Fox is premiering yet another reality show. It’s called “Who’s Your Daddy” and as I understand it adopted children will meet three men who MIGHT be their father. They must guess the correct one then, well I don’t know what happens then. And I don’t know if this show will make it as the show with the most bad taste or not but so far the premise seems a bit personal and emotional to be the stuff of tasteful television.

On the same date, at 10 pm, NBC is premiering a new show titled “Medium”. The promotional blurb is as follows:

“Drama, Paranormal, Pilot Joe tries to prove that Allison's dreams are stress-related by sending descriptions of them to law-enforcement agencies.

Big TV Event of the Week

Okay, folks, the carefully coiffed and crafted campaign to make Amber Frey wealthy is about to begin on this TV Event of the Week. Frey, you should recall, was the mistress of Scott Peterson. Her “lawyer”, Gloria Allred, has been all over the networks throughout Peterson’s trial, protecting her client and preparing the public for her plan to cash in on Amber’s notoriety.

On Tuesday, 1/4/05, at 10 pm, NBC will have handsome Matt Lauer interview Amber. Soon, I predict without being any sort of Medium, Amber will have a book.

Hey, it’s the American way.

Normally The Wise I would never recommend Dan Rather’s flawed show “60 Minutes”, CBS being such proven liars.

On Weds, 1/5, at 8 pm 60 Minutes will feature a show that I suggest for no other reason than its fascinating promotional blurb.

The biggest Pentagon scandal in recent years; a rare disorder threatens to wipe out the Amish.

“The biggest Pentagon scandal in recent years”, heh, by CBS’ standards, is liable to be, no wait…, I bet it’s the fact that Rummy signs letters with an autopen. Damn. Can’t wait to see this hatchet job. And a rare disorder wipes out the Amish? Well bring it on.

On Sat, 1/8, at 8 pm, The Discovery Channel will feature a show about tsunamis.

Said channel being the logical place to teach us uninformed Americans about this natural phenomena. The Wise I plans to watch as I tend to get a bit obsessed about current events and want to learn all that I can.

I volunteer to teach those people how to rent a little airplane, affix a long ad type of sign to its tail, and ride it across a busy beach with a warning to head for the high ground. We do this sort of thing on Rehoboth Beach all the time and all for advertising specials at the local pizza parlor.

Also, as I questioned in last week’s missive , STILL no Americans reported dead or missing in that tsunami.
