Natalee Holloway-Understanding the Dutch Justice System
The original three males who admitted that they were with Alabama student Natalee Holloway have been “arrested”. The word arrested being in quotes because as best as I can ascertain, by Dutch law the police can hold suspects WHILE they are conducting an investigation.

Even odder, these three fellows, all said to be around Natalee’s age, had been held for questioning then released. Now they are back in custody. The two security guards who were also arrested remain in custody.

Could all five of these men have been involved in this crime?

As the strangeness and mystery deepen around this crime- and it has to be a crime and nothing less-I find myself settling down in my chair to further consider the implications and repercussions of it all.

Starting with this rather weird method of investigation.

From the many pundits and Aruba legal experts, I can only come up with two possible scenarios on what happened to Natalee Holloway. One is rather unlikely but not out of the question considering the path of the “investigation”.

The last person known to have been with a person who goes missing is the most suspect and in a high percentage of the time, the person who likely caused the person to go missing. Those three Aruban young men admitted they had left the nightclub with Natalee. They all went to see a lighthouse. Some reports say the young people took a swim by the light of the moon. Natalee is alleged to have been slightly, perhaps heavily, inebriated.

Something happened to Natalee during that moonlight swim. Perhaps in her alcohol addled state she drowned. The boys panicked. They all vowed to stick to the story that they returned Natalee to her hotel room. They all agreed to cast aspersions on the two local security guards who evidently have a reputation as hanging around tourists, selling bags of pot and the sort of activity these locals in paradise engage in.

OR things got out of hand after all viewed the lighthouse. One fellow, rumored to have already known and as being smitten with Natalee, was making out with her. The others wanted to join in the fun. In a frenzy of drink, testosterone and a victim unable to properly defend herself, the males took advantage of Natalie. Somehow Natalee ended up dead. Her body was thrown into the waters surrounding Aruba.

Since the police in Aruba can just willy-nilly bring in people and hold them , Aruban investigators decided to bring in the two security guards and for the moment let the original three go after they gave their agreed upon story.

Under my second, and what I consider less likely scenario, it’s possible these two security guards stumbled upon the crime then happening. Perhaps they demanded participation or else they would call the police immediately. After these two security guards were done, Natalie’s body was then thrown into the sea.

Either investigators have deduced a connection between all FIVE of the males, OR the security guards have been fully cleared and the original three are now brought back in and “arrested”.

Even though the original three fellows have been taken into custody, the security guards have not been released as of this writing.

I don’t think there’s going to be a body found in this case. It’s only logical that a murderer wanting to dispose of a body in Aruba would toss it into the ever-present ocean. Which is going to make for a very interesting case.

Just the tie up between these five men is going to be a problem. If all parties stick to their stories…ie the security guards say they know nothing about Natalee while the three boys claim that they delivered Natalie back to her hotel, it’s going to be a difficult case to prove.

Any DNA evidence is gone with Natalie’s body. If there is DNA in whatever vehicle the three boys drove there is a logical explanation for it in that they do not deny having gone off with Natalie. If there is any DNA evidence anywhere near or on the security guards it might be a bit more difficult to explain away.

This case could deliver a real blow to Aruba tourism. Because if Americans see that an American woman can be murdered with no criminal bought to justice I’d think Americans would cut down their Aruban travel extensively.

The Arubans know this.

Will they be able to follow through with a fair and just trial of the actual perpetrators? Or will they quickly prosecute a flawed case just to satisfy traveling Americans?

This is a case that would be difficult for any prosecutors on the planet. Given a tourist victim, no body, and fingers of guilt pointing in every direction, it’s a guess how it will all turn out.
From CBSnews:
(CBS/AP) Aruban police arrested three more suspects in the case of the missing American honors student Thursday, the attorney general said.

Attorney General Caren Janssen said police arrested the three men that police had previously questioned and released in the disappearance of 18-year-old Natalee Holloway, an Alabama high school honors student.

She refused to identify the three, but authorities previously have described them as students — two Surinamese and a native of the Netherlands — who told police they dropped off Holloway at her hotel around 2 a.m. on May 30. Hotel employees, however, say that security cameras did not record her return.

Jackson Jury Sent Home Early
They say they had graduations to attend and that’s likely the truth. Although aren’t graduations on a Thursday rather odd?

I say, based on nothing whatsoever, that the jury is getting haircuts, nails done and purchasing fine clothes.

For tomorrow I predict the verdict will be handed down.

Al Queda Members Arrested in California
Alleged to have been in training in Pakistan of all places. Pakistan is supposed to be our ally.

If Al Queda is to ever attack America again they would likely have to have someone on the inside.

Now we learn that a father-son, both American citizens living in the country that has treated them well, have been actively involved in plots to inflict a terror attack on their adopted country.

There are now five suspects in custody as of this writing.

Who knows how many more are out there?
From the Sacramento Bee
Federal officials believe they have broken up an al Qaeda terror cell operating in Lodi and have arrested two men and detained two others as part of a wide-ranging investigation, authorities said Tuesday. One of the men arrested, 22-year-old Hamid Hayat, is accused in a federal criminal complaint of training in an al Qaeda camp in Pakistan to learn “how to kill Americans” and then lying to FBI agents about it. His training included explosives and weapons instruction and using photographs of President Bush as targets, court documents indicate.

Paris Engaged to Paris
We’re NOT making this up.

How many people on this planet are named Paris? Better, how many of them are now engaged to each other?

From the Daily Dish:
LATSIS ASKED PARENTS FOR HILTON'S HAND IN MARRIAGE
Paris Hilton's parents Rick and Kathy were delighted when their daughter's new fiance, Paris Latsis, asked them for the socialite's hand in marriage. The Greek shipping heir asked the millionaire couple's permission before getting down on one knee to propose Hilton last Wednesday.

Kathy tells the New York Daily News, "He is a wonderful young man. We love him.”

Tom Cruise In Trouble?
Could it be his bogus relationship with Katie Holmes? Could it be his weird behavior on a recent Oprah show? Could it be his obsession with the bogus “religion” Scientology.

Or is the public just plain sick of this fake celebrity?

Whatever the reason, it seems that Mr. Cruise does not possess the star power he once held. Thus no “Mission Impossible III”?
How Personal Is Too Personal for a Star Like Tom Cruise?
By SHARON WAXMAN

LOS ANGELES, June 1 - Just months into his tenure as chairman of Paramount, Brad Grey is facing the sort of decision that makes Hollywood executives quiver: whether to proceed with production of the hugely expensive "Mission: Impossible III," even as its star, Tom Cruise, is puzzling associates and members of the public with his behavior while promoting another Paramount venture, "War of the Worlds."

An executive for Viacom, Paramount's parent company, said the studio had not yet decided whether to push ahead with production of "Mission: Impossible III," one of the company's most valuable franchises and a project on which tens of millions of dollars has already been spent. Shooting was planned to begin in Italy on July 18 and to continue on location in Europe and elsewhere.

"No definitive decision has been made; it's a discussion,"

While promoting that film over the last several weeks, Mr. Cruise engaged in an increasingly public discussion of his religion, Scientology. Then he set tongues wagging in Hollywood and elsewhere with an hourlong appearance on the May 23 "Oprah" show, during which he jumped around the set, hopped onto a couch, fell rapturously to one knee and repeatedly professed his love for his new girlfriend, the actress Katie Holmes.

Speaking of Tom Cruise
Even the sweet “Suddenly Susan” star, Brooks Shields is angry at him because of his recent comments on her use of antidepressants for postpartum depression.

Perhaps Tom thinks Brooks should pray to Ron Hubbord for relief.

From People on AOL:
Brooke Shields is lashing out at Tom Cruise, who recently criticized the actress for using antidepressants and called her actions
"irresponsible."

Shields, whose recent book Down Came the Rain chronicles her battle with postpartum depression following the birth of her daughter Rowan in 2003, says Cruise should mind his own business.

"Tom should stick to saving the world from aliens and let women who are experiencing postpartum depression decide what treatment options are best for them," says the former Suddenly Susan star.

Spice Girls NOT Welcome
Although they should be honored at not having to perform at this silly charity performance. The liberal BBC refers to it as a “historic fund-raising event” aimed at canceling third world debt and helping developing countries protect their economies.

Someone needs to tell the BBC that third world countries can protect their economies by ousting the thieves and thugs in charge who are stealing all the aid money.

From the UK:
The SPICE GIRLS have been axed from this summer's (05) star-studded LIVE 8 charity concert - because the event's organisers fear the band's music undermines the show's serious political message about world poverty.

The WANNABE stars - GERI HALLIWELL, VICTORIA BECKHAM, MELANIE CHISHOLM, MELANIE BROWN and EMMA BUNTON - hoped to reform the band and perform together for the first time since 1998, when Halliwell quit the group.

But bosses for TV giant the BBC - which is broadcasting the event - have snubbed the fivesome, insisting the pop act is too trivial for the historic fund-raising event, which aims to persuade politicians to cancel Third World debt, double the aid budget and rewrite global trade laws so developing countries can protect their economies.

Minner Doesn’t Know What She’s Doing
Farmers in Delaware are very mad at the environmental restrictions the Minner administration is putting on farmers.

The Delaware Governor is pushing through a slew of legislation that will effectively take all land decisions away from the land owners. I agree with the following excerpt from a letter written by the President of Delaware’s Farmer’s Association. Delaware wants to keep the farms but are doing nothing but encouraging farmers to sell out while the selling out’s good.

From the Delawaregop.com web site:
The Minner administration is seeking to push these measures in the closing weeks of legislative session without the due diligence they demand. We believe state government means to fundamentally change where and how land use decisions are made. We believe land use decisions should be made by home rule.

If these bills are passed and taken in combination with proposed pollution control strategies for the inland bays, the adopted wellhead protection and source water protection regulations, and the new septic regulations, an assault on private property rights is unquestionable.

If state government is attempting to protect farmers from going out of business, the accumulation of legislation and regulations coupled with zoning in this legislative package is creating an atmosphere that forces farmers to sell out now, rather than continue to farm and have their land values taken.
