True Crime-Lisa Stebic, Madeline McCann, Weird Sex Crimes Make You Want to Blame the Victim

True Crime continues in even though I myself took some time off.

First, where is Lisa Stebic and why won't her husband take a lie detector test?

That child abducted in Portugal, what is known about who took her?

Plus a "rape" that almost makes you want to blame the victim.

Some info on that "Fort Dix Six", snickers on Paris Hilton, OJ and the Steakhouse, and a baseball player's hubris behind the wheel.

Quote of the Day
GETTING OUT OF THE GIPPER'S SHADOW

"...I would like to note that the media's fixation with which Republican is the most like Reagan, and who is the next Reagan, and who parts his hair like Reagan, is absurd, and subtly undermining of Republicans, which is why they do it. . . . They should stop it already, and Republicans should stop playing along. They should try instead a pleasant, 'You know I don't think I'm Reagan, but I do think John Edwards may be Jimmy Carter, and I'm fairly certain Hillary is Walter Mondale.'"

- Wall Street Journal columnist Peggy Noonan

TIDBITS
RANDOM TIDBITS-On Peanut Butter and Jelly

The peanut is NOT a nut! It's a legume and a member of the pea family.
***

Peanut butter was first introduced to the general public at the 1904 World's Fair.
***
People in the U.S. eat, on average, 7 pounds of peanuts and peanut products per person, per year.
***
Not Jellyfish

Preserves currently represent 34% of the total sales in the overall fruit spread category (jams, jellies, preserves, fruit spreads, marmalades). Jams make up 22% of sales with jelly sales close behind at 21% of sales. Fruit spreads are 17% of sales, and marmalades make up the rest of the category with 5.4% of sales. Annual retail sales for jams, jellies, fruit spreads and preserves are approximately $632 million.
***
Grape is used for P,B & J

The most popular are grape jelly and strawberry jam. They are followed by grape jam, red raspberry jam, orange marmalade, apple jelly, apricot jam, peach jam and blackberry jam, in that order. An additional 28 flavors are commonly produced that account for less than 20 percent of total production.
***
Strawberry Preserves...YUM!

Jelly is more popular among kids, while preserves are favored by adults. In fact, the average child will eat 1,500 peanut butter and jelly sandwiches by high school graduation. Consumers who regularly purchase jam, jelly and preserves usually buy two flavors to have at home. And at home, adults and children eat the products with equal frequency.

Not Invincible

It was evidently just a matter of time before the St. Louis Cardinals' pitcher Josh Hancock would end up dead behind the wheel. Hancock had been drunk at over twice the legal limit, a pipe and marijuana were found in his car, he'd been chatting on the cell phone with a lady who he planned to meet at yet another bar, then he hit a tow truck stopped in the road. Hancock was traveling at 68 mph in a 55 mph zone. Hancock made no obvious attempt to slow down; he simply hit the tow truck at full speed. Hancock wore no seatbelt and was killed almost instantly.

From the Suntimes:
Cardinal player HancockST. LOUIS---- St. Louis Cardinals pitcher Josh Hancock was drunk and talking on his cell phone at the time of his fatal accident, and marijuana was found in the sport utility vehicle he was driving.
Medical examiner Michael Graham said at a news conference Friday that the 29-year-old reliever was dead ''within seconds'' from head injuries in the crash early Sunday on Interstate 64 in St. Louis. His vehicle hit the back of a tow truck parked on the highway to assist a driver from a previous accident.

Hancock had been involved in an accident just three days prior to this one. The real miracle here is that this nut managed to kill just himself with such wreckless disregard of any laws or common sense.

Sometimes the celebrated think the laws of gravity and other silly nonsense just don't apply to them.

Which Brings Us to Paris Hilton

Sometimes you get a story and need to decide...is it a True Crime? Or Gossip?

In the case of the lovely but talentless Paris Hilton, it's very much a true crime. Because this rich bitch has been stopped, count 'em, FOUR times for driving with a suspended license.

From the LA Times:
An otherwise unassuming career jurist, Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Michael T. Sauer found himself thrust into semi-celebrity last week when he sentenced Paris Hilton to jail.

Hilton and her spokespeople have since decried the 45-day sentence as unfairly harsh and out of step with her crime of repeatedly driving with a suspended license. Bloggers and celebrity watchers across the country have weighed in, alternately criticizing the ruling and applauding Sauer for standing up to Hilton's reckless ways and consequence-free lifestyle.

Paris Hilton before trialHilton's Mom, not that everyone doesn't have a Mom in attendance at such driving cases, excoriated the judge for sentencing Paris to jail when other, less severe options, were available to the sentencing judge.

The story of Paris Hilton and her constant thumbing of the nose at laws that really shouldn't, folks laws really shouldn't, affect the likes of Hilton, has been the fodder of cable shows across the fruited plains.

Don't even bother polling us fools out here in la-la land for OUR thoughts on the matter. Any one of us peons who carry this country on our back whilst raising the soldiers and citizens of tomorrow would have been thrown in jail on the SECOND, definitely the THIRD, stop for driving on a suspended license. Paris already got an extra try for the thing and then the bird brain goes to court and says, get this, that she thought she could drive so long as she was going to work.

Heh.

And just WHERE, exactly, does Paris Hilton WORK?

Rape By Deception

Folks this case really made to prosecution so it's serious.

From This Is Pembrokeshire.net:
A Syrian-born airline pilot allegedly tricked a schoolteacher from Haverfordwest into having sex with him by pretending he had to administer ointment on the end of his penis, a jury heard yesterday (Tuesday).

Fadi Sbano, 38, even pretended to know a gynaecologist who advised him on how often to have intercourse with her and whether to thrust "slowly or quickly". And, on the "doctor's advice", he kept a clock on the bedside table to time the sessions.

The teacher put up with the treatment for nine months before telling her doctor.

For nine months plus this woman, a TEACHER for God's sake, believed that a pilot friend was charged with administering a medical cream by putting the cream on his penis and inserting the medicine vaginally.

Folks, this scam is true but I suspect, after further investigation, there's a TRUE story behind the giggles.

For a moment, let us bow our collective heads and smile at the ingeniousness of this fellow. Not to mention his dedication to his gynecologist-assigned task of giving this lady her medicine that she may be cured.

Okay, giggles aside, there is a story behind the craziness. For Sbano also scammed his lady friend's parents out of thousands of pounds to buy the cream that he needed to apply so diligently.

It sounds to me like the teacher who needed the medicine was part of this scam and she helped her ersatz "doctor" in obtaining money from her parents, who were concerned for her health. Once it looked like SHE was part of the deception, the school teacher came up with this story about being fooled into thinking that medicine is really administered via penis.

The case was thrown out of court before a verdict was reached.

Proving once again....you can't make this stuff up.

Where Is Madeleine McCann

The story of missing British child, whose fourth birthday passed by recently while the child is still missing, has captured the attention of the world. Although I consider myself a True Crime Buff of sorts, this story leaves me baffled.

From BBC.com:
Gerry McCann told villagers at a special mass in Praia da Luz, Portugal, the effect of her abduction was "like a tidal wave".
Rewards totalling £2.5m have been offered to anyone who can help with information leading to the safe return of Madeleine, from Rothley, Leics.

First, the child had been left alone, along with two younger siblings, by her parents while they dined at a nearby eatery. The family was on vacation in Portugal and the tourist complex in question did offer nightly "crib" service to parents for just this reason.

Madeleine's parents eschewed such as babysitters and, instead, left the children while they were sleeping. The parents, allegedly, took turns checking in on the children as they dined since the restaurant and vacation villa were nearby. Evidently the parents did not check the children frequently enough because when they returned home, the parents discovered Madeleine was missing.

Child missing from Portugal-Maddie-Memorial pic

It's been almost two weeks now at the time of this writing and Madeleine is still missing. This simply CANNOT be a good thing. Even so, news reports from the couple and Britain all seem bizarrely calm and reassuring. Madeleine, we are told, is likely safe and being lovingly cared for. Why I simply scratch my head and ponder how they could believe such a thing.

What's really weird is that this couple have "imported" a legal team from Britain to come to Portugal, ostensibly to help set up a "search" fund to try and help Maddie. Say what?

Further, reports from Portugal get stranger and stranger. We hear that people from nearby villas are under investigation and/or the possibility that Madeleine might have been abducted by an international child-abduction ring. In none of these scenarios would a conclusion that Maddie was safe and cared for be logical.

The latest on this case is that a Robert Murat, a neighbor where Madeleine's parents were staying, is being "treated as a suspect".

I'd sure love to know who is giving out these details. Because this is being handled so strangely that it boggles my mind.

Lisa Stebic, Another Divorce by Death?

Lisa Stebic

From the Chicago Tribune:
Family and friends of Lisa Stebic held a vigil near her home Wednesday night, while Plainfield police and FBI agents continued investigating the whereabouts of the mother of two who vanished 10 days ago.

About 100 people gathered in prayer around a gazebo less than a half-block from the Stebic home. Her husband, Craig, last reported seeing Stebic, 37, in the home about 6 p.m. April 30. The Stebics were getting a divorce but still lived together.

It's almost out of the text book. The couple are having marital problems and have agreed to divorce. Although they've agreed to a divorce, the estranged couple continue to live together. I know that couples do this from time to time...convenience, money, access to jobs and kids' schools. It's really, really a terrible idea. Let yon reader so note that should marital discord strike, as does to all of us from time to time, MOVE OUT.

One half of the couple disappears. The other half of the couple refuses to aid law enforcement by taking a lie detector test. In this case, Mr. Stebic filed for custody of the Stebic children in case Lisa should return from whatever shallow grave in which she is buried and claim custody of them.

My money's on Mr. Stebic on this one and that's hardly a long shot. Searchers did come across some ancient bones as they searched for Lisa but they turned out to belong to a suicide.

Now is Mr. Stebic decided to get rid of his wife the "easy" way rather than a long, protracted divorce, we'll see if he gets a free pass in that manner of Mary Winkler.

Speaking of Mary Winkler

Goodness knows I've ranted on about that joke of a Winkler verdict. Below, a reader sent me a joke that applies in the case of the Winkler jury.

A prosecuting attorney just could not believe that a jury had found the defendant not guilty.

Astonished, he asked the jury foreman, "How could you possibly have found this man innocent?"

The foreman replied, "Insanity."

The perplexed prosecutor asked, "All twelve of you?"

The Fort Dix Six

Folks, we've another fine group of American citizens who plotted and schemed this time, to murder U.S. soldiers.

Indeed these fine young men were offered the best America had to offer them, including a promising life, freedom to worship as they pleased, peace and prosperity. Yet they scheme to attack this country, so kind to them, from the inside.

The formal complaint against the Fort Dix Six.

From Yahoo.com:
Fort Dix Hearing drawing of two defendents in court

FORT DIX, N.J. - Six foreign-born Muslims were arrested and accused Tuesday of plotting to attack Fort Dix and slaughter scores of U.S. soldiers — a scheme the FBI says was foiled when the men asked a store clerk to copy a video of them firing assault weapons and screaming about jihad.

The defendants, all men in their 20s from the former Yugoslavia and the Middle East, include a pizza deliveryman suspected of using his job to scout out the military base.

Don't believe that nonsense that this was just a group of malcontents that would likely never get anywhere with their braggadocio plans. This kind of stuff has GOT to be taken seriously.

I consider it my job to point out rather pointedly, that America never did a damn thing to these fellows.

It's what we're up against folks and in any society one can always find kooks and nuts. Given a so-called Religion of Peace which encourages such nuttiness, one of these days a group of these loser thugs is going to succeed.

Then, believe it, IT WILL ALL BE BUSH'S FAULT!

It Would Turn Out That We Are STILL Sick of O.J.

O.J. Simpson got two free murders. The American justice system was used to try O.J. for the deaths of his wife and her friend Ron Goldman. A normal person would walk off to a low-profile life, free from jail and ALIVE.

But not O.J. Oh no. As he searches the golf courses across the fruited plains for the REAL murderers of Ron and Nicole, he also writes a book describing how he'd do it IF he did it. He gets into scrapes with yet other stupid woman who dare to hang around with the man. Recently OJ makes a spectacle of himself by turning up at the Kentucky Derby ready to be feted as the celebrity he imagines himself to be.

From Gateway.net:
The owner of an upscale steakhouse said he asked O.J. Simpson to leave his restaurant the night before the Kentucky Derby because he is sickened by the attention Simpson still attracts.

"I didn't want to serve him because of my convictions of what he's done to those families," Jeff Ruby said in a telephone interview Tuesday.

"The way he continues to torture the lives of those families ... with his behavior, attitude and conduct," he added.

OJ Simpson, jockey and lady friend at Kentucky Derby 2007

Cheers to the owner of the steak house who turned OJ away. Sure OJ sued that he was discriminated against although another black man got the seat in the restaurant OJ was denied.

No wait. Is it against the law to discriminate against MURDERERS?
