Dancing With the Stars Season 23-So it Begins and we spot the top five right away.

The youngest did the worst on the first episode of Dancing With the Stars Season 23. The oldest did okay. But the athletes stole the stage.

There were athletes, youthful Disney stars, older actors from the past and one former Governor of Texas.

The dances for the night, the first episode of season 23 on 9/14/16, included the Jive, the Cha Cha, Viennese Waltz and the Foxtrot.

The top two dancers in terms of judge's score were Olympian gymnast Laurie Hernandez and race car driver, James Hinchcliffe.

The bottom two dancers were Governor Rick Perry from Texas and Maureen McCormick, who played Marsha on the Brady Bunch.

Governor Perry, man I don't know what he was thinking. But he got 20 points out of a possible 40. Former Marsha of the Brady Bunch received 22 points out of a possible 40.

Laurie Hernandez and James Hinchcliffe each received 31 points out of a possible 40.

Former Taxi Star, Marilu Henner, danced a rocking jive and she scored right high, 27 points.





Ryan Lochte, a former Olympian who got into a bit of trouble in Rio, Brazil by making up stuff about a wild night on the town. Oddly he was attacked directly on the Dancing with the Stars stage. They don't have any security for that?

The best looking dancer of the night was Jana Kramer, a country music sensation as she danced a Viennese Waltz and got 27 points.

Vanilla Ice is currently on tour and is doing his practice during breaks on the tour. Ice danced a Cha Cha, getting 25 points and who looks to remain in the competition for a while.

Kenny "babyface" Edmonds danced a Foxtrot to the tune of 26 points.

The wide receiver known as Megatron, Calvin Johnson, has size 15 shoes and is very tall. He danced a Cha Cha with his partner, Lindsay Arnold, and got 26 points.

Terra Jole is a midget, or more politically correctly called a "little person". One has to admit having a contender compete for the mirror ball who is a midget has got to be intriguing.

Terra danced a Jive and scored 25 points.




Amber Rose is not all that well known but is somehow associated with Kanye West. Amber's dance partner, Maksim, even made a snide reference to Kanye before the dance. The team danced a Foxtrot and scored 24 points.

Jake T. Austin is the ubiquitous Disney star that always shows up for a dancing gig. I think it's because ABC owns both Disney AND the broadcast channel.

The Disney stars are often young and in this competition, youth is an advantage. But young Jake, not so much. He and his partner Jenna Johnson danced a Jive and received 22 points.

Finally, one of the dancers to watch, race car driver James Hinchcliffe.

James and his partner danced a Foxtrot and scored 31 points, tied for top score with Laurie Hernancez.




It was a good start for Season 23. Right now I suggest close eyes on Laurie Hernandez, James Hinchcliffe, and Jana Kramer.
