It came down to three really great Chefs by my reckoning-David, Brandi and Shaun.

Two are from Las Vegas while Brandi hails from Kentucky.
Man I thought this show was about home cooks. No way do ordinary home cooks make what these folks cooked up.
The most interesting verbal tidbit on the MasterChef finale aired this past week around 9/15/16. Chef Gordon Ramsay told contender David that he had balls the size of ostrich eggs!
He really said that!
It was a comment in regard to some concoction cooked up by David that Ramsay evidently thought was very brave.
As the final challenge, the contenders were to cook a three course meal from appetizer to dessert and the offerings were deep.
Beet cured salmon? Pork bellies from Brandi? Of course somebody had venison.

Now salmon is a widely eaten fish, I get this. But few people eat pork bellies and we learn from this series finale that properly cooked pork bellies must be fork tender. Who knew?
The winner and new MasterChef is, of course, SHAUN!
Shaun regularly won plenty of challenges and his final meal was also a winner.
Congrats to Shaun, the MasterChef cast and wishes that the next series has more foods home cooks REALLY make.
