NEW YEAR’S RESOLUTIONS

There’s always someone who will insert some assertion to the effect: “I don’t see much sense in making New Year’s Resolutions.  After a few weeks they always get broken”.

I figure, even if I only manage to keep well-meant New Years’ resolutions for one out of five….well hey that’s one I might not have accomplished had I not given them all a try.

Or something.

I have made my resolution and we shall see.

Meanwhile,  for a smile:

Review TOKYO STEAKHOUSE IN LEWES, DELAWARE

The Tokyo Steakhouse, pictured below, is located on Route 1 going through  the ocean front towns in Delaware and Maryland.  It is busy and, in the summer, filled with tourists.

I and my guests of the moment often go here as it has food mostly liked by everyone, is reasonably priced and adds a bit of entertainment to the meal.

A party of two to four can sit at individual tables or any number of a party that so chooses can deign to sit around the big grill along with strangers if ok, and enjoy the meal there.

As for the food at the Tokyo Steakhouse, it is Japanese/Oriental.  For about $20 to $30, one can have a big pile of fried rice, Japanese clear soup, a small salad and a choice of shrimp, scallops, beef or oysters, or a combination, for various prices as listed.

The entertainment then comes when the cook comes out and fries the rice and makes the entrĂ©e.  The cook thinks it is great fun to toss a piece of shrimp or meat out into the table where the “audience” is watching the cooking.  The individual who should capture the tossed food is then cheered as a hero.  The “capturing” of the food is meant to be directly into the mouth.

The Steakhouse also has great appetizers as one of our guests claims to adore the sashimi.

My bill for a party of four usually runs around $125.00 but one can take the leftovers home and there is plenty in the offering.  The Japanese Steakhouse is not somewhere one eats for a casual lunch but it a great place to take your guests.

THE GOLDEN BACHELOR

I have always been a fan of “The Bachelor” and this recent offering of “The Golden Bachelor” has captured my interest.

The Bachelore(ette) series is about having one man or one woman find and choose a future love out of about a pool of 25 candidates.  I rather like this reality series because….well I always enjoy reality series and this one is kind of interesting.  For the most part, those that find love on this series don’t normally have it last a lifetime.  But some of them do and marry and have children.  Most of us don’t pay much attention to lives after finding love on The Bachelor as we probably won’t get daily updates on this so-called “Golden Bachelor” marriage.

The normal age for a candidate as a Bachelor(ette) is about 25-35 with candidates for getting chosen is about the same.  Because, tada, normal marriages are about that age, when we are earning our best, most fertile, best we will look, most healthy.

When one gets over 70…not so much.  A new marriage/romance around that age is very different than marriages of Bachelor(ette)s in 20’s and 30’s.

All impending marriages require adjustments, we know this.  But with an older couple, add grown children, grandchildren…even great-grandchildren.  Then there’s former in-laws, real estate, dealing with assets after death.

Golden Bachelor didn’t go into all that so much, although it was part of all the gossip on Facebook and such.  The bride, Theresa Nist, and the groom, Gerry Turner, were the subject of many rumors but hey, they got married on television and I wish them luck.

I am now 73 years old, been married four times.  I will watch such as The Golden Bachelor(ette) but don’t look for me to seek any husbands.
