A fellow saves a dog from sure death but he might lose his job for the good deed. A pit bull attacks a baby so why are the child's parents in trouble? And yes, we have a dog that shot its owner.
Some Baltimore crime and how about those Westboro church kooks?
Quote of the Day

Hand to the Lord, the Headline is "Dog Shoots Man"
From BBC.com:
A man out hunting in Iowa was shot in the leg after a hunting dog stepped on his gun, authorities said.
The accident happened after James Harris, 37, put his gun on the ground to retrieve a fallen pheasant.
See, a dog loping around an area where some blockhead left his gun lying, a gun that was locked and loaded, a dog steps on something that fires that trigger, heh, that's a human shooting his own self.
This Baltimore Guy Didn't Want to Live
I have a keen eye for stories from my home town of Baltimore, Merryland. I came upon the story below and gave pause.
From the Baltimore Sun:
A man who confessed to fatally stabbing his ex-girlfriend, a Coppin State University student, slipped his handcuffs while being treated at Mercy Medical Center, fought with a police officer, and dived out a window yesterday, plunging 10 stories to his death, city police said.
Damon Smith evidently loved his ex-girlfriend Veronica and it's the same old story, black or white, any religion, any nationality. Runaway emotions led to tragedy.
What's especially unique about this story was that Smith was determined to end his life. So determined that when he was captured, this soon after Flud was found by her Aunt stabbed to death, Smith had rammed his car into a pole and when pulled from the car he was covered in cuts and blood.
Somehow Smith managed to fool a young police officer to assist him in using the bed pan. The article linked above hints that this cop had no business doing that, that this sort of thing should have been handled by hospital personnel. Smith managed to get out of the handcuff restraints but still with leg restraints on, he ran out of the hospital room, down the hall, broke a window some ten stories high, and threw himself out to his death.
Smith saved the Merryland taxpayers a lot of money but Veronica should be alive today, attending school and working towards a bright future.
Voter Registration Fraud in Washington State
This sort of thing is never a sexy story but I daresay plenty of elections have been stolen by this sort of activity. Which does nothing less than disenfranchise thee and I.
From the Seattle Times:
Three of seven defendants in the biggest voter-registration fraud scheme in Washington history have pleaded guilty and one has been sentenced, prosecutors said Monday.
The defendants were all temporary employees of ACORN, the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now, when they allegedly filled out and submitted more than 1,800 fictitious voter-registration cards during a 2006 registration drive in King and Pierce counties.
In fact, that big firing of federal prosecutors snafu took place because Democratic appointed federal prosecutors wouldn't follow through on voter fraud cases. This administration had no choice but to fire these recalcitrant prosecutors which caused the Dems, as they always do, to jump up and down like hyenas and declare Bush was firing fine prosecutors who are doing nothing wrong but following the commands of the DNC.
Remember that Washington state just recently had a very close gubernatorial race. According to the article linked above, NONE of these fake voter registrations were used to cast an actual vote.
But of course not! Pshaw! A pox upon your house and may the fleas of a thousand camels infest our armpits for daring to think such a thing.
Saves Dog's Life, Might Lose Job
From Citynews.news:
It was a hot summer day in July when Animal Cruelty Investigator Tre Smith received a call about a dog locked inside a car in the King and Jameson area. When he arrived he quickly assessed the situation, and what he saw was ominous. The animal was foaming at the mouth and had relieved itself --- a sign of organ failure. Smith acted promptly to save the pet, which was hovering near death after far too long inside the sweltering
So okay, everything about this story is just plain odd.
First, fine, the Animal Cruelty Investigator responds to a call about the dog locked in the car. So far, so good. Then Smith broke the window to save the dog's life and I'm thinking fine. As an Animal Cruelty Investigator Smith has a right to do this I would think.
But while Smith was trying to administer first aid to the delirious dog the dog's owner showed up on the scene and was making a fuss, getting in the way of Smith's rescue efforts. Smith handcuffed the owner to his own car then continued his rescue of the rottweiler. Right here we have problem number uno.
Yes I understand that in the frenzy and pressure of the moment that Smith may have reacted quickly, perhaps too quickly. I'm not at all sure handcuffing this guy to his car was such a good idea.
So Smith evidently, as the sequence of events is a bit fuzzy, took off with the dog to a Vet or somewhere to get the animal some help.
Then we move on to the bizarre. For the dog's owner was "assaulted". It's not clear whether the assault was a robbery in that, go with me here, here's a fellow handcuffed to his car and maybe he has a wallet in his pocket and maybe a couple of robbers thought they might hit an easy prey.
Since the article does not mention a robbery, I suspect that the dog's owner was assaulted by passers-by and lookers-on. Surely this fine dog owner who had to be handcuffed to his own car that Animal Cruelty could save his dog then almost dead by this same owner's neglect was the object of the wrath of any who witnessed the thing gone down. The article says the dog's owner had a bloody nose and some bruises when Smith came back ostensibly to release the dog's owner from his own car. There was no mention of a missing wallet of the dog's owner.
Apparently handcuffing dog owner's to their own cars is not under the purview of Animal Cruelty officers in this locality but hey, it really looks bad when you leave people handcuffed to their cars amidst a crowd of angry people.
So far they're holding hearings on whether Smith will be fired and it's gonna be a while before a decision comes down. Meanwhile Smith is confined to desk duty.
I'm thinking maybe the Animal Cruelty folk are hoping that with the passage of time this too will pass.
Moonbats at Westboro Must Pay Almost Three Million Bucks
From CNN.com:
BALTIMORE (AP) - A grieving father won a $2.9 million verdict Wednesday against a fundamentalist Kansas church that pickets military funerals out of a belief that the war in Iraq is a punishment for the nation's tolerance of homosexuality.
Albert Snyder of York, Pa., sued the Westboro Baptist Church for unspecified damages after members staged a demonstration at the March 2006 funeral of his son, Lance Cpl. Matthew Snyder, who was killed in Iraq.
I have always been of the belief that these nuts are not who they pretend to be. Sure, I may be ready for a tin foil hat but this concept of protesting at the funerals of soldiers killed in Iraq because these Moonbats think that Iraq is America's punishment for supporting homosexuality makes no sense at all. Thus the soldiers who fight and die in Iraq are guilty too of supporting homosexuality.
See, the practice of televising the return of coffins from overseas stopped after the Vietnam war. That little bit of emotional drama served no purpose at all save to bring down the spirits of anyone supporting the war. Coffins and dead soldiers are part of war and our soldiers, who are VOLUNTEERS, understand this.
Yet we must have some way to bring America's attention to the funerals of soldiers so boom, give these Moonbats a few bucks and they follow the military funerals across the country and their antics get national publicity.
First, that bit about being so rabidly against homosexuality is exactly how a Moonbat liberal would depict some sort of church congregation. Second, why choose the funerals of American soldiers to fight against the scourge of homosexuality? Why aren't these Moonbats camping out in front of the homes of Barney Frank, or Senator Craig? Why not a big knock-down, drag-out convention in the heart of San Francisco? Surely there are far more appropriate places and more germane to their alleged religious concern for the homos amongst us. This plan to argue this sort of thing based on the Iraq war and dead soldiers is just soooo lame.
You can believe that the Phelps aren't going to have to pay one nickel of this money. Somebody, somewhere else is behind this and all to force America to lose the war.
I don't know why Americans want their own country to lose the war but hey, maybe somebody's paying them to help us lose the war.
I'm just sayin' ...
A Baltimore Dog Story
For reasons I can't explain, Baltimore does have a big problem with attacks by pit bull dogs. In fact my own daughter once had a pit bull when she lived in that city and it scared me to death.
From the Baltimore Sun:
The dog rarely barked. He never growled, and his teeth - until a vicious attack Saturday night - had been reserved for chewing food, his owners say.
Chocolate - a caramel-colored pit bull a little more than a year old - was one of the most tranquil dogs Kenneth and Melissa Garrison had until, unprovoked, he snapped and nearly bit the nose off the couple's 1-year-old son.
These naïve owners always tell you "that dog won't hurt a fly" or some other thing because, hey, they are their owners and seldom does a dog attack its owner. In this case a young toddler was viciously attacked and what's interesting, a child attacked by a vicious pet can be considered a victim of child abuse and/or neglect.
Well somebody's got to protect these innocents. What the hell did that little one year old know about a possibly vicious attack from its pet dog? The argument could be made that the parents couldn't have suspected such a thing either but let me point out that this family has FOUR pit bulls. This particular dog is the fifth pit bull, adopted by the family recently when its owner died.
Hey, the viciousness of the pit bull is hardly any secret. It's up to parents to protect their children. If they don't, their children will be removed from the unsafe home.
I believe enthusiastically in limited government but the protection of the innocent, such as a toddler doing toddler stuff in a house with five pit bulls and the parents don’t protect, is very definitely a job of the government.

The Death of Another Innocent?
From Neoshodailynews.com:
The Newton County Sheriff's Department is searching for a missing 9-year-old Stella girl.
On Sunday, Newton County Sheriff Ken Copeland said Rowan Ford, 9, of 777 Grove Street in Stella, was reported missing at 6:50 p.m. Saturday by her parents. The girl was last seen at her home at 10:45 p.m. Friday.
She's nine years old and around 8:30 pm on the evening of Friday, 11/2/07, she was last seen alive by her mother before she left for her job at Walmart.
This little girl has a stepfather, who was with her when his wife left for work. Of course no believable alibi can be established for this fine fellow. He claimed that he and a few friends went out around 10:45. He said he checked on before he left but didn't look in on her when he returned home. The following morning Rowan's mother returned home and noticed that her daughter didn't come running to greet her.
What's really weird here, this fine stepfather phoned up his mother at 1 in the morning and told her he needed her car. She drove over to his house and waited in his house while her terrific son drove somewhere for almost 5 1/2 hours.
Well sure mothers bring automobiles to their sons in the middle of the night and sit at their house for the rest of the night while he is out, somewhere, doing something.
Here's my question...did this fine stepgrandmother check in on Rowan what with her having so much time at her son’s house and everything?
Update on Bobby Cutts
First reported on this Blog HERE, Bobby Cutts was a police officer who, for whatever egotistical reason, kept fathering children with various and sundry women and I must say that I am impressed. A male fathering children, what will they think of next? Bobby Cutts might think he has the corner on this ability but, alas, someone should tell him that ejecting sperm cells near a willing egg dates all the way back to Adam.
So Jessie Davis already has one child with the fine Mr. Cutts and was due to deliver their second baby, a little girl to be named Chloe.
The latest on this case is that Cutts' alleged friend from high school helped him get rid of Davis' corpse. I'm not sure what that bit about "complicity to abuse a corpse" but it sounds horrible.
From KSDK.com:
CANTON, Ohio (AP) -- A high school classmate of a suspended police officer who is accused of killing his pregnant girlfriend pleaded guilty Monday to helping dispose of the body and agreed to testify against him.
Myisha Ferrell, 30, quietly pleaded guilty to complicity to abuse a corpse and obstruction of justice -- for lying to authorities -- just before opening statements were to begin in her jury trial. She was sentenced to two years in prison but will be eligible for release after one year as part of a plea deal.
