Medical Marijuana Subject to Arrest by Feds

First, do not laugh that marijuana has medicinal qualities.

Indeed it does.

Marijuana is an anti-emetic. Which means it prevents nausea. Marijuana also stimulates the appetite. Both of these qualities make marijuana ideal for cancer patients or anyone on any sort of chemo-therapy.

Marijuana is also a natural element. It’s a WEED for God’s sake.

That being said, the decision by the Supremes yesterday was the first decent decision the high court has made in months.

Marijuana is a federally controlled substance and was banned by our elected representatives in the early seventies. If states decide to make marijuana legal under certain medical circumstances than hey, that does not exempt the user from federal law.

Not that the supreme court had any business deciding cultural issues, but as a rule I would suggest that this country doesn’t want to make marijuana legal.

Except for medical purposes and in that case than congress should exempt the federal ban save for marijuana administered for medical purposes.

Of course then everyone in America (or a good percentage) will be walking around high, driving high, working while high. Because it’s impossible, unlike alcohol, to determine if someone is on a marijuana high at any point in time. It IS possible to determine if someone has indulged in the weed in the past 30 days or so prior to the test.

But a guy riding a forklift while high on Acapulco Gold? Maybe if he has glassy eyes and keeps raiding the candy machine.

I believe in all of nature there is no better medicinal aid than marijuana.

But it’s all a can of worms that perhaps shouldn’t be opened. It’s been reduced to a misdemeanor. Perhaps it’s best for the country to maintain a “don’t ask, don’t tell” policy. If nothing else our elected representatives should at least debate the issue from all angles. We do elect them to do such things in between illegal filibusters and nasty attacks on the opposing political party.

The “don’t ask, don’t tell” policy would include those currently using marijuana under the auspices of medical oversight. Why can’t they just quietly smoke the stuff in their home?

From MSNBC.Com
WASHINGTON - Federal authorities may prosecute sick people who smoke pot on doctors’ orders, the Supreme Court ruled Monday, concluding that state medical marijuana laws don’t protect users from a federal ban on the drug.
The decision is a stinging defeat for marijuana advocates who had successfully pushed 10 states to allow the drug’s use to treat various illnesses.

Justice John Paul Stevens, writing the 6-3 decision, said that Congress could change the law to allow medical use of marijuana.

Bush administration had appealed The closely watched case was an appeal by the Bush administration in a case that it lost in late 2003. At issue was whether the prosecution of medical marijuana users under the federal Controlled Substances Act was constitutional.

O'Connor backs states In a dissent, Justice Sandra Day O’Connor said that states should be allowed to set their own rules.

“The states’ core police powers have always included authority to define criminal law and to protect the health, safety, and welfare of their citizens,” said O’Connor, who was joined by other states’ rights advocates.

American Teen Missing in Aruba

There’s lots of speculation about Natalee Hollaway, the teenager who didn’t show up for her plane home after an after-graduation trip to the Dutch governed island.

Aruba is a bit of a wreck in that their tourist industry hinges on avoiding bad press. The island has no other large industry besides tourism.

The island has even released all federal employees off for a half day to look for the missing teenager.

As of the last update, two employees of a nearby hotel have been arrested. Scuttlebutt has it that these two are not cooperating with police and deny involvement.

If there’s an intriguing element to this true crime it’s that it’s known that Natalee went off with three young Aruban men late the Saturday night she went missing. All three of these fellows come from well-to-do Aruban families; one is the son of a local judge.

It’s also rumored, stated by Natalee’s Uncle, that hotel video tape does not show Natalee returning to her hotel, the Holiday Inn, as the three fellows said she did.

Could Aruba be protecting its prominent citizens by arresting two more “suitable” criminals?

Jackson & Jackson

But of course Jesse, also a Jackson, has managed to insert his mug into the Michael Jackson case. Jesse helps Michael “pray”.

There has been no verdict on this day just passed. Keep checking in.

Dem Talking Points

It would seem that in order to set the stage for a Madame Hillary election that the Democratic party has taken to attacking the Republican party.

Although liberals would scold us mere peons for casting broad stereotypes, first we had Howard Dean, national Democratic party chairperson, saying, based on nothing whatsoever, that most Republicans have never worked a day in their lives.

Now we hear Hillary has gotten on her broom, oops, sorry, on the podium, and is too is lambasting the Republican party.

According to Britt Hume’s “grapevine”, Hillary said at a fund-raiser yesterday, that “Republicans have no shame about what they are doing” and the country currently suffers under the “dictatorship of Republican leadership”.

She did not, according to Britt, state any specifics.

It’s all about sound bytes anyway.

Russell Crowe Arrested

And it’s about time. There’s been constant speculation about this fellow’s temper and hey, he is a celebrity. Which means, in California at least, two free murders and ten years of unfettered child molesting.

Methinks Crowe threw one too many telephones at one too many innocent help.

The actor threw the telephone at a hotel employee (but didn’t “hit” the guy according to the Crowe spokespeople) because of frustration at not being able to contact his wife.

Well this is a good reason to go throwing things at people.

Search of Landfill in Idaho Murders Finds Nothing
The only thing new in the case of the Groene murders is the fact that investigators are looking into recent purchases of cable ties at the local hardware stores.

A sign that the three victims who were bludgeoned to death were bound with those ubiquitous plastic ties that can hold bicycles onto garage rafters.

It seems unlikely that the murderer(s) would have chanced upon these things while doing the murder. It’s a sign that they thought ahead enough to bring some along. At least as I see it.

Possibly points to pre-meditation is what I’m saying here.

Idaho Murders

No Clues on Missing Kids in Idaho Landfill

COEUR D'ALENE, Idaho (AP) - The search of a landfill has ended with no clues found in the bludgeoning deaths of three people and the apparent abduction of two children from a home, the Kootenai County Sheriff's office said Wednesday.

Agents for the FBI and other law enforcement agencies sifted through some 800 tons of trash at the landfill, looking for clues that might have been dumped into garbage cans near the rural home, sheriff's Capt. Ben Wolfinger said.

``They found nothing,'' Wolfinger said.

KREM-TV in Spokane, Wash., reported Wednesday that detectives were checking purchases of plastic tie-wraps sold in local hardware stores. Detectives have said the homicide victims were bound, but have not said what materials were used.

American Teen Missing in Aruba
Check for a daily update on this case as it is rapidly ongoing.

As of this writing there are five “persons of interest” and they come in groups. There was a group of three who were last to see Natalee and said they dropped her off at the Holiday Inn early in the morning.

There was a group of two, men alleged to be employees of a nearby hotel closed for re-modeling.

Isn’t 18 a bit young to be sending off like that? And where were the chaperones?

From USA Today
Natalee Holloway, 18, who was traveling with about 130 classmates and seven chaperones on the five-day trip, did not show up at the airport Monday for the return flight to her hometown of Mountain Brook, near Birmingham.

"There's a real outpouring of hope," says Mark Yoder, youth minister of Mountain Brook Community Church, which has held the services. He says about 150 residents attended the first one Tuesday and dozens continue to do so every day. "People just want to know answers."

Susan Merrill's son was also on the parent-organized trip, an annual tradition. She describes the senior class at Mountain Brook High School as unusually close. The students had graduated May 24. She says students of all faiths have come together at the church services. "We're just praying and praying that somehow she'll be found."

Seven Year Old Boy Beats Baby Sister to Death
Watch that this kid doesn’t become another Lionel Tate. More on him later.
Boy, 7, Suspected in Tot's Beating Death

By VICKIE CHACHERE

TAMPA, Fla. (AP) - A 7-year-old boy beat his baby half-sister to death with his fists, feet and a two-by-four because he was jealous of the attention the girl was receiving and because she would not stop crying, police said Wednesday.

The State Attorney's Office is deciding whether to file charges against the boy in an attack that rattled even veteran homicide detectives.

The attack occurred May 22 in Tampa, where the boy had been visiting his father. Seven-month-old Jayza Laney Simms was dead on arrival at the hospital where her parents rushed her.

What’s New With Lionel Tate?
Who somehow killed a six-year old girl while allegedly pretending to be wrestling. There was even, as I recall, a brouhaha raised by the liberals to have professional wrestling quelled for its violence.

And so Lionel was released after three years, supposedly “cured”.

Now Lionel turns up in the news again.

The death of that little 6 yr old and the reason given were mighty suspect at the time. Now…well things don’t look good for Lionel.
From Townhall.com
Lionel Tate is in the news again. He's the young black kid from Florida who, at age 13, was convicted of brutally murdering a six-year-old girl when he was 12, and became the youngest convict in American history sentenced to life in prison. After serving only three years, however, Tate was released from a juvenile prison last year on a technicality. In agreeing to plead guilty to second-degree murder, he got a year of house arrest, ten years of probation, counseling and was ordered to perform 1,000 hours of community service.

Tate, now 18, was recently arrested for violating his parole twice. He not only was found by police with a knife in his pocket, but had also allegedly assaulted a 12-year-old boy and held up a pizza delivery man - at gunpoint. He is currently being held without bond at the Broward County Jail.

Sex Offenders Get Viagra
You can't make it up.
HARD TO BELIEVE

"Nearly 800 convicted sex offenders in 14 states got Medicaid-funded prescriptions for Viagra and other impotence drugs, with the majority of the cases in New York, Florida and Texas, according to a survey. A study by the Associated Press found the states that provided registered sex offenders with subsidized impotence drugs are: Florida, 218 cases; New York, 198; Texas, 191; New Jersey, 55; Virginia, 52; Missouri, 26; Kansas, 14; Ohio, 13; Michigan, seven; Maine, five; Georgia, three; Montana, three; Alabama, two; and North Dakota, one."

The Voters Be Damned
The elites of Europe explain away the stupid voters:
Belgian Prime Minster Guy Verhofstadt: "The result should not be considered as a vote against Europe. The French voted against this text of the EU constitution. The motivation of a lot of opponents shows that the French do not want less but more Europe."

Similarly, Spanish Prime Minister Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero proclaimed: "We must take note of the discontent expressed in this vote and redouble our efforts to explain that this constitution enshrines the rights and freedoms of Europeans as our social model."

Italian Foreign Minister, Gianfranco Fini, said of the EU constitution that it is ... "still an efficient instrument."

Some Suggestions for the Democratic Icon
REPLACING THE JACKASS

"Some Democrats think dumping the donkey for a new symbol might help. The New York Daily News reports three ad agencies have been commissioned to come up with a new emblem. Might I suggest the chicken, to reflect Democratic foreign policy? Or the ostrich, to indicate the Democrats' refusal to recognize the world has changed since the 1960s? Or perhaps the vulture, in view of the Democrats' lust for bad news in Iraq?"

Ann Coulter on PBS
COULTERGEIST

"When Ken Tomlinson, chair of the Corporation for Public Broadcasting, suggested that PBS was maybe a smidgen left of center, [former PBS host Bill] Moyers began his lengthy public nervous breakdown. Already well-known as an insufferable jerk, it turns out Moyers is also a crazy megalomaniac, too. . . . According to Moyers, the reason these right-wing radicals focused on him...is that he 'didn't play by the conventional rules of Beltway journalism.' That and the giant piece of tinfoil on his head."

Some Comments on the Book Review “Sleepers”
by Lorenzo Carcaterra. Who lied and who I complained about lustily in my review HERE.
from Blogcritics:
I read this book too, I found it amazing as well, and since I thought it was non-fiction, I too was shocked. After a while I realized through modern media and a person who is a DA in new york city, that there is no such case. Carcaterra never justified the book, acting like he is protecting the characters in the book. I liked the book a lot, and the movie was excellent too, it is unfortunate that he claimed it was non-fiction, but guess what, nobody would have talked about this book unless it was portrayed as non fiction. I too will not read his books again.

===
More Thoughts on “Sleepers”:
from BlogCritics:
Patfish, We have all read books that twist the truth, and most of us have had instances where we believed the purported \"facts\" contained within, and became outraged or angry, or went on a personal jihad - until someone rubs our nose in the true reality of the subject matter.

This is one aspect of being a passionate reader, a passionate person. The big suck comes when you write about your new found perspective in a public forum, and suffer the humiliation of having your naiveté ruthlessly exposed. I know what this feels like...

However, to ascribe lies and misrepresentation solely to lefty liberal books, news reports, politics, or whatever, and to have it change how you view the world? I have to ask, how solid was the foundation of your belief system to begin with?

For every left wing lie, there is a right wing lie. If someone tells you different, they\'re lying.

Another True Crime Nut Case
Posted to the Kaitlyn Mae Book Blog, evidently someone is taking exception to my early on speculation re Mark Lunsford’s “Jessica Lunsford” fund. He was asked about it on Greta, he didn’t deny it and I thought it was in poor taste. Especially at that time.

But ah…such intelligent dialogue from the commenter.
i agree with anonymous. you are a disgusting woman and you make me sick. how can you write such horrible speculation and actually sign your name to it. that devastated family just lost their little girl in the most horrible way and you mam are adding to that pain. it is not rare to be heavily asleep but you probably didn't even take that into account since you are such a negative person. whata waste of oxygen you are kaitlyn mae.

Via email-on Katie Couric
Katie Couric post HERE
Hi,

I'm 41 yrs of age. I grew up watching NBC Today Show. I've been watching Katie Couric on NBC Today morning show since 1993. I'm an Air Force Vet. I was enlisted for 11 years. I got out in September 1992. My husband retired from the Air Force after 22 yrs of service (1 Jun 04).

I'm so sick of Katie Couric. She's such a CHEEZY chick. Thank goodness she no longer talks about Alley anymore. Does anyone even know the name of her second daughter?????

Katie is no longer CUTE & she goes for the "cheezy" labels. People kiss up to her because of NBC, but if she were "regular" SUE on the street.........most wouldn't give her the time of day.....................she's such a FAKE, big TEETH loud mouth.

I use to be a REAL fan of Katie Couric until I read a publication about her private life & how both of her young daughter have emotional problems. I feel Katie should stay home with her children & be a "real" mother. Once her daughters are older, then she can re-enter the public......she should stop trying to be such a "fake" & get REAL!!!!!!!!!

TWO Thumbs down for Katie Couric.

I definitely have to comment on the teen missing in Aruba. What the heck was she doing out late a night with 3 guys she obviously did not know. Where the heck were the chaperones. Why wasn't there a room check the night before to find out that she was still out.

I find it interesting that her family and friends do not want to address the fact that the teen was out with 3 men. I also find it interesting that the school has not commented on why one of the students that they were responsible for was out without anyone knowing.

I feel badly for the Hollaway family and would not wish that upon anyone, but they should take some responsibility in regards to the way they have raised their child. I'm sorry but being 18 and stupid by choosing to drink and go off with strangers does not bring up a lot of sympathy from me.

Why does everyone think our fair haired girl from our bama state is lost or murdreed. In high school she was always playing pranks. She always bragged she waq too good for everyone and she hated her real mom. She ran away two times when she was 15.

She ran away to venezuela. where she is now on strip
