Taking a Look at Bachelor Pad 2012's Season End. Will This Show Beat Out "Big Brother"? The Winner! Guest Writer Michelle Deals With Water Ghost.

It's a fairly formulaic live-in type reality show, this Bachelor Pad, spinoff from the Bachelor/Bachelorette series.

A bunch of "strangers" move into a big house where they share rooms, meals, and in the case of Bachelor Pad, sometimes lovers.

The lure of the Bachelor Pad is that the contenders were former would-be spouses of the Bachelors and Bachelorettes of years past.  Thus a fan of the Bachelor/Bachelorette series would tune in to this show over, say, Big Brother.

A thorn could be, as I muse on, that if the audience didn't like a former Bachelor series contender they might carry that dislike over to the Bachelor Pad.

NO WAIT!

That' is exactly what happens.  There's always some kind of "villain" type cast for this series.  Could be Erica, who so annoyed during this 2012 series.  Could be Chris, he who lost his beloved Emily and a contender I didn't much like then and didn't much like during this Bachelor Pad series.

The Bachelor Pad finale was a real surprise.
Chris, Rachel, Nick and Sarah

Nick and Rachel were the couple nominated by the co-contenders who had shared the pad with both Nick and Rachel as well as the runners-up-Chris and Sarah.

As I speculated, Chris made too many enemies during his stay at the pad though he played a wonderful game.

After Rachel and Nick got the nomination they then retired to a room to decide how they would divide up the spoils of victory.

Each of them had two signs-"KEEP" and "SHARE".  If both chose to SHARE the quarter of a million, each would get 1/2 of the bonus.  IF one chose to KEEP the money while the other chose to SHARE, the one who chose to KEEP would get all of the money.  The catch is that should both choose to KEEP the money, then neither would get any of the winning but the money would, instead, be distributed amongst all the other Bachelor Pad attendees.

Rachel chose to share.  Nick surprised everyone by choosing the KEEP sign.  As such...NICK WON THE ENTIRETY OF THE QUARTER OF A MILLION DOLLARS!

What a surprise that ending was.  Nick, up until Rachel agreed, without much enthusiasm, to partner with him after her love, Michael Stagliano was kicked out of the pad.

I thought it was a genius strategy.  Another surprise was how Nick went off on Rachel, pointing out how she didn't seem to want to partner with Nick but was stuck.  Nick complained that Rachel would threaten to up and leave as the competition was still ongoing, that she was distant and cool toward him.

Here's the irony: anyone who watched Rachel and Nick compete only saw a happening couple winning contests and cheering their success.

Nobody knew that Rachel was being such a b*tch to Nick.

Or I dunno, maybe Nick was lying about Rachel's deviousness.  Whatever the case, Rachel was angry and Nick was happy.

I was surprised and plan to watch this series more closely from now on.

 Posted by Hello

Our water poltergeist, H-2-Uh-Oh, is still alive and kicking. We had a leak in the kitchen; a drip splattered onto our linoleum from the ledge all kitchen cabinets seem to have at the base. You know that four-inch spot where the cabinet meets the floor, that's indented? There. That's where it was dripping. Harry tracked it back up to the kitchen faucet, underneath the sink. The water was running down the hose and seeping through the cabinetry.

I called a plumber. Poor guy. He scheduled about an hour to fix it.

When the plumber showed up, I was working on a computer on the kitchen table. I let him in, showed him where the water was appearing, and where Harry thought it was leaking. He went back out to his truck to get tools. I left the door open, since he'd likely be going back and forth a lot. The screen door was shut and he was careful to latch it every time he came in or out.

Which he did a lot.

I continued to work on the computer. He found the problem - one side of the faucet was leaking from the seat. This is normally an easy fix; you replace the offending seat and put everything back together. Done, right?

Wrong. He did that several times, and each time, after everything was back in place, the water flow on that side wouldn't turn off. I told him about our poltergeist, but I'm not sure he believed me.

He took both sides of the faucet apart, put them back together, and the water stayed off. Done, right?

Wrong. Now the faucet handles turned the wrong way. What was "off" before was now "on." I told him I could get used to it, but he wanted to fix it the way it had been. (Secretly I was pleased; I really didn't want to change it.)

He took everything apart again, put it back the other way, and the water wouldn't turn off. He used the shutoff valve to stop the stream and went to the hardware store. He came back, did all the work again, same result.
I told him about our poltergeist, but I'm not sure he believed me.

While he was working with the faucet, two guys came to the door. Since only the screen was closed, I had no choice but to answer it. Normally I do not answer the door for salespeople. We have no doorbell circuitry connected to the doorbell button, so they tend to push the button (which does nothing), stand there for a minute, maybe push the button again, and then go away. This time, no such option.

I answered the door. Two young guys stood just off my porch. Both wore decent clothing, but not uniforms. There was no car anywhere that I could see. The spokesman held a binder with the Dish Network logo on the front.

"Hello, ma'am. We're from Dish Network, and well, are you still one of our customers?"

Red flags. Wouldn't Dish Network, who gets a hefty payment from me every month, know whether I was still theirs? And wouldn't they have a big van with the logo all over it? "Yeeesssss," I answered slowly, my brain trying to figure out what was up with this.

"Thank you. You see, we've been losing a lot of customers to cancellations - competitors and the economy, you know, so we're working on a retention campaign."

My red flags hadn't gone away and I didn't want to be any part of their "campaign" so I said, "Have you got a question for me?" Behind me, I could tell the plumber was listening.

"Well, ma'am, we will replace all your older equipment for newer, better equipment, *and* lower your bill."

More red flags. These goons were *not* touching my equipment. I told them, "Thank you, but until Dish Network sends me a letter saying so, you're not to do anything with my equipment."

"Ma'am, it's not like I have a satellite dish in my back pocket..."

"Thank you," I said, as I shut the door. Behind me, the plumber looked rather astounded as I locked it. I told him, "No ID, no uniforms, no truck. I doubt they're with Dish Network at all." I could see the two guys outside walking away from the house.

The plumber nodded and went back to the faucet. It had now been over three hours. I told him about our poltergeist again, just in case he'd forgotten. He called a friend and begged for assistance. Within half an hour, I had two guys working on the faucet. This new guy managed to fix it fairly quickly. The handles turned the right way, and the water flow was on and off, as expected. The new guy left while the original guy wrote up the bill. He didn't charge me for all that "extra" time on such an easy task. This time, I didn't remind him about the poltergeist.

After he left, I called Dish Network. There is no retention campaign and they thanked me for letting them know. Either those goons were one of their competitors or they just wanted to case my house for what kind of good stuff I might have in it. Either way, good not to let them in.

I don't want my stuff leaking out the front door.

That was awhile ago, and I spent the first few days

Bachelor Pad 2012-Three Couples Left and a Bunch of Neurotics They Are

Actually after the most recent showing as of this writing, there are only TWO couples left. Before the recent showing that featured trivia contests and the most godawful singing ever.

The final two couples up for the big quarter million dollar prize include Sarah Newlon and Chris Bukowski, along with Rachel Truehart and Nick Peterson.
Chris and Sarah

The Rachel/Nick pairing is an unusual one in that no one much heard a peep out of Nick Peterson throughout this series and Rachel's been on a big boo-hoo since her beloved Michael got booted out.

I will never ever understand what prompted producers to have the Bachelor Pad Contenders participate in a karaoke contest.

One would assume that the act of singing in a contest or on a stage of any sort that the contender would have, eh, some singing talent. Not a single one of those entrants could sing a note except possibly Rachel and that was a stretch.
Ed and Jaclyn Sent Home

It was painful to hear.

I'm not at all sure how the prize is awarded in this contest. I must assume the money is given to the "couple" who make it to the finals.

And a "jury" of evicted contenders will vote the winner, as these sorts of shows usually go.

Hmmmmm.

I see Chris and Sarah as the better contenders of these two teams. BUT Chris has made a lot of the females in the Pad angry with his rejections and pseudo-love that he might lose the win for what is perceived as his arrogant ways.

It will be an interesting finale and we'll be watching the show for the result. Join this Blog to get the inside snark and scoop as soon as it happens.

Find the Cat

There are four couples left on the 2012 Bachelor Pad and the depth and breadth of their relationship is unclear to say the least.

In the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Ghost somebody give Jaclyn a brain and while at it, give Ed a heart. These two are a "couple" on the show and they had a long discussion on the most recent episode aired 8/27/12. The discussion was about the proper "name" for their relationship. Are they a "team" or are they a "couple" or are they just friends?

Ed already told Jaclyn in front of everyone that he was still enamored of a girl back home. On their one on one date, Ed again goes over his relationship with this girl back home. I don't think I've ever heard such gobbly talk where Ed said he left his girl back home but he still thinks about her but he told this girl he was going on the show as a single but he still has feelings for her.

If I were Jaclyn I'd run from this guy fast as I could in my heels. Yet she agrees to spend the night with him, please, this woman is so dumb the word dumb does not do her justice.

Then there's Chris, Emily's rejection on the Bachelorette. Chris gives off an air of both superiority and anger. During his on screen vignettes he comes off as sneaky and conniving. Chris is paired with Sarah and heh, those two won that hilarious spelling bee that showed us all out here in la la land across the fruited plains watching this show just how dumb these contenders are.

There HAD been Kalon, he of helicopter fame, and Lindzi. They both were voted out and there seemed to be some indication that they would go on after the show. I got a bridge for sale to anyone who believes that.
Tony and Blakely are hanging in there and right there are two neurotics who make me smirk. Tony was on Emily's Bachelorette season and finally Emily had to send him home so he could be with his child who he claimed to miss more than life itself. Blakely's a drama mama of the highest order, having already had it out with Chris and goodness knows I don't think this duo will go anywhere much longer.

Nick and Rachel are a duo paired together at the last minute after Michael was voted off. Rachel began to feel affection for Michael and now she cries all the time over Michael, adding boo hoos to the sound set on Bachelor Pad.

I think Ed might win this thing as he seems to be scripted into every scene and challenge. Ed was the fellow chosen by Bachelorette Jillian but like so many before them, that relationship broke up.

But keep an eye on Chris because this is a guy with strength, determination and a set of chin that makes me thinks he's drop dead serious.

We'll be keeping an eye on this series and goodness knows we've got lots more snark to offer up. Tune in to keep up the details of Bachelor PAd 2012.

Bachelor Pad 2012-All Over the Place. Fans Competing? What's With Jillian's Ed? Why All the Love for Emily's Chris?

Pic of Day

Cool Dude Dog

So ABC's Bachelor Pad  , a "Big Brother" wannabe using the call of former Bachelor/Bachelorette to attract viewers.

I'm proof it worked.

To begin with we have Chris, the fellow who was handed a brutal broken heart by Bachelorette Emily this past season.

I'm lost as to why Chris is such a chick magnet in the Pad as Chris seems to be. He's not particularly handsome though he doesn't need a paper bag over his head. He seems to have a sour temper and disposition to me judging by his solo camera vignettes on Emily's Bachelorette season.

Now that Chris is in the Pad he's got the babes all fighting for him. They all need to watch what they wish for.

Michael Stagliano was the winner of the last Bachelor Pad. He's back again although his online Bio alleges that he is only in the contest this time to find the love of his life.

Odd.

There's nowhere else for this nice fellow who we know has a bundle of cash to find a female besides The Bachelor Pad?

It was Melodrama 101 during Stagliano's season as he relentlessly sought his former girlfriend' Holly's return. Michael didn't get it and now, per his Bio, he claims to care not a whit about his money, he is determined to meet his wife.

If I were Michael's friend I'd suggest he take some of that money he won and ask a nice female out on a date. It's not like meeting females on the Bachelor/Bachelorette has worked out well for him after all.

And then there's Ed.

Ed was Jillian's choice when she was Bachelorette.

Like so many of these trumped up shomances, it didn't work out for Ed and Jillian.

Now that Ed's on the Bachelor Pad, maybe we know why.

On the very first episode of Bachelor Pad Ed, it would seem, had a little too much to drink. Bachelor Pad host Chris Harrison had an awful time detailing game rules as Ed drunkenly gamboled in the pool and ran roughshod in his underwear.

Hmmmmm. Maybe Ed's drinking was the problem with him and Jillian. I mean come on, that's what the average viewer is likely to conclude from that bizarre showing.

This season's Bachelor Pad had something new, as is often done on these types of shows. Now staying in the Bachelor Pad are several "fans", "one" of which was a set of identical twins who drove everyone nuts.

The Bachelor fans staying in the Bachelor Pad all compete in the challenges as issued during each episode. In the case of the identical twins, one twin would compete as the other sat out. There was a large part of one recent episode that was almost comical in its feature of these rather immature twinlings as they fought over every little thing, then made up, only to begin fighting all over again. At some point the twins both decided to leave (accordingly the twins were fighting as one wanted to stay and one wanted to leave) and that was cute.

I think having a couple of fans compete in the Bachelor Pad to be a cute idea and these fans are every bit as handsome/pretty as the contenders who were once on a Bachelor/Bachelorette series. What's interesting is how many so-called "veterans" took umbrage at the fans and wanted to immediately vote them off the Pad. They did, in fact, vote off Donna, a Super Fan, for no discernible reason that I could see save she wasn't one of "them".

There's been the obligatory romps through hot fudge and whipped cream. The females all wear the little bikinis like they do on these shows. There was also, of course, Ed in his underwear.

There are a couple of contenders that are interesting to watch. One is contender Erica, a nasty one she, and it should be interesting to follow Michael and see how his quest for love goes. I'm sure Ed will provide viewers with some entertainment. He's featured in a lot of the Pad interactions and there seems to be a move to push him off.

We'll be watching this show and posting follow-ups. Come back to this Blog and check it out.
