The Best Dancer Won Dancing With the Stars All Stars 2012-A Look Back At This Series

Pic of Day

Let us begin by the big admission that we did quite enjoy the concept of Dancing With the Stars-  -All Star Edition. We must wonder when they will have another one. This is the DWS 14th season after all and Kelly Monoco won the first season. Will we have to wait another fourteen years for another Dancing With the Stars All Stars?

I kind of rooted for Emmitt Smith right from the start. It wasn't that Emmitt was the best dancer of the men, goodness Gilles Marini took that honor. But I felt that Emmitt was the most "human" of the contenders. He isn't fat by any means but he's not skinny either. He's a heterosexual, which is not to cast aspersions upon non-heterosexuals but the average guy just doesn't have the inborn skill to be a great dancer. Emmitt comes to about as close to a perfect dancer as a heterosexual male can get.

Yes I know that Gilles is a heterosexual, of course. But I'd never meet a Gilles Marini type at any wedding I'd attend any time soon. There might be an Emmitt Smith around, however.

I'd made a snarky allusion to the final winner, Melissa Rycroft, at the beginning of my track of this series. I didn't view her as "famous" enough to win this thing, what with Shawn Jackson and Kelly Monoco nipping at her heels.

Rycroft's claim to fame is being rejected by her Bachelor love on live TV and I think that's a bit damning, hardly any claim to fame. Rycroft did appear on another season of DWS. She performed okay but at some point hurt herself and had to drop out after being judges by a practice video and receiving low scores.

She was, however and obviously, a very good dancer, I could see that after a few episodes and I retracted my snark. I had serious doubts that she'd go on to win but she deserved it, yes she did. Every one of her dances pushed the limits and left me amazed.

It was a most enjoyable season and soon we'll be watching another season of Dancing With the Stars.

Keep and eye out for future DWS All Stars.

I take back every bad thing I said about Melissa Rycroft, I need to re-emphasize-or just emphasize if not done before-that Gilles is one sexy cool dancer, I need to say again that I love Emmitt Smith still and I think I understand his allure.

It's the All Star version of Dancing With the Stars and it's been great to watch.

It was the evening the dance teams were to perform dances as assigned to them by co-contenders. And goodness there were a whole bunch of new dances, including the Charleston and something called the Bollywood.

Below a video of Marini doing this dance.

Marini is a good dancer, no doubt about it. I hadn't hones in on him so much to win this contest because, well goodness it's the Dancing With the Stars ALL STARS so they compete with the best.
With the exception of Kirstie Alley and Pamela Anderson, let's not forget this.

Speaking of Kirstie….you go girl. Kirstie did a great Charleston, a new dance to this competition. I'd gotten a bit snarky about Melissa Rycroft, whose only claim to fame is being rejected on live TV. And that was all a scam at that. But hey, the girl can dance! Melissa amuses the viewers with those pre-dance vignettes they like to do with the contenders in that she joshes about who she evidently feels to be her biggest foe, Sean Johnson. Sean beat Melissa on the leaderboard by 2.5 points but Melissa looked good.

My favorite, from the beginning of this thing and even up till now, has been Emmitt Smith. Some might call this weird in that Emmitt is certainly not the youngest of the contenders. He's not the prettiest, he's not the lightest, hell he's not even necessarily the best dancer. But I watched Emmitt glide across the floor so fluidly and I pondered just what is his allure. I've figured it out.

Understand that young Apollo Ono is young, slim, handsome and a very good dancer. Gilles is another fellow that's a complete dance package. I still like to watch Emmitt the best of all because….well because he moves so well. I watch Emmitt and I think of my Dad. I think of my uncles or other elder males in my surround, only if they could dance, they would be Emmitt. Cause no, my father could not dance as well as Emmitt nor could any of my uncles. But if any of them had a bit of dance talent they would be like Emmitt, leading his lady, moving with a fluidity made prettier by the muscle and bulk the man packs. He dances with a romanticism and beauty but no one would ever mistake Emmitt (or my Dad!) as a fancy pants type of boy, if you get my drift.

Gilles mesmerizes by the power of his handsomeness while Apollo intrigues with his outstanding athleticism translated into the dance. Emmitt is just a guy like my Dad who learned to dance real well. He's comfortable to watch, heck I'd even dance with Emmitt. You can believe that I'd pass up Gilles and Apollo for the dance but Emmitt? He's like family.

Bristol Palin's been eliminated, as well it was time.

This week the dancers danced over a span of two nights with NO elimination this week.

The dancers also participated in two group dances, pretty affairs, fun to watch.

The dancers got to choose the songs that they shamefully indulge in. So we had Titanic, Disney Songs, all sorts of music and many sorts of dance steps.

This is becoming a most enjoyable sort of Dancing With the Stars.

Another Nominee for Parent of the Year

So we have "Dancing With the StarsAll Stars edition" and I like it.

It goes without saying that the dancing is top notch and I do quite enjoy seeing competitors return that I've come to know so well in the past.

For now, I've got some comments on a few of the dancers.

Bristol Palin was a mixed bag.

First, she looked terrific. As I recall Bristol was battling a weight problem during her last dance effort. She now looks perfectly proportioned and is very beautiful.

I was very surprised to find that Bristol was one of the bottom three as I thought she danced very well. It's obvious, I type softly, that Bristol has lost what was once a large amount of cover from Tea Party types across the fruited plains.

At this time I do still like Sarah Palin but she's disappeared from my political radar as any kind of future leader. I'd have supported Sarah Palin had she chose to throw her hat in the ring. She did not, choosing a reality show about Alaska and a pundit gig on Fox.

I don't fault her for choosing the best course for her and goodness knows the media went crazy to try and destroy the woman. But this relieves me of any obligation to close in protectively on Sarah's children and family as so many of us once did as a sort of strike back against the campaign to destroy this innocent woman.

We voted for Bristol in droves even if she wasn't the best dancer during the last competition with her as contender. Way we figured, the Lamestream media would get their rabid dumbbells who vote for Obama to vote in droves AGAINST young Bristol. So many of us voted FOR her to help stave off such a massive act of unfairness.

Now, Bristol's on her own. Based on her dancing I don't think Bristol deserved to be in the bottom three. Bur for sure she's not getting votes just based on her last name.

I had to smile at Gilles Marini, who is still very handsome and still dances very well.

But I got laugh. "Brothers and Sisters" was one of the silliest liberal programs on television and us folks don't like liberal programs.

How'd that work out for you, Gilles?

"Brothers and Sisters" had a great lead in-Desperate Housewives. But Sally Field played a dumbbell mother of a bunch of dumbbell children….sheesh it was pure pap.

So Gilles dances again and we wish him luck.

Pam Anderson got booted off on the first night of DWS All Stars, as well she should have been.

Besides this woman's big fake boobs, for what is she known for?

She looked like a hooker on the downturn to me and her dancing was so ugly I almost threw up.

Kirstie Alley….sheesh, anybody thinks this woman can dance I got a bridge to sell….CHEAP.

Oh she does all right for a big gal...who is now significantly smaller I'll allow. But she's sure not all that and will definitely not win this thing.

Melissa Rycroft….heh. Here's a contender whose claim to fame is being publicly rejected and humiliated by a Bachelor. Rycroft will soon be a has been, at best she will be a bit player on the entertainment stages. She's an okay dancer. She hasn't a prayer of winning.

So far I'm quite into young Mr. Apollo. I think he's got a bunch of talent and will be one to watch for.

Which brings me to Emmitt Smith and he's my favorite contender, this series and of all DWS history. I really loves his green shoes.

Emmitt's not young and he's not skinny.

But he's got a way about him that makes one watching his fluid dance moves feel as if he or she too was dancing fluidly across the floor.

Emmitt….I hope you win.
