Delaware Primaries Coming Up; Let's Take a Look at Some of the Local Races

Pic of Day

There's a couple of interesting primary elections coming up on Tuesday, September 11, 2012. Let's take a look at some of the candidates, particularly in the greatest place in the world to live, Sussex county. Let's also make some predictions, just for the sport of it.

There are five seats on the Sussex county council. I will be discussing two of the candidates vying for the Republican nomination for the seat in their councilmatic district.

Don Ayotte is running for the Republican nomination so he can run against Joan Deaver, current Sussex county Representative for the third council district.

Donald R. Ayotte (R) 20501 Gravel Hill Rd., Georgetown DE. 19947 302-344-4433 Date Filed 02/14/2012 Email: pencilsedge@yahoo.com Web Page: HERE

John Christensen is running against Sam Wilson ("what would Jesus do?") in the second Sussex county councilmatic district.

I am campaign treasurer for both of the above guys and yes, I'm prejudiced. This is my Blog not the NBC evening news. Though the big networks too are in favor of certain candidates with initials BHO though they don't announce it up front like I did.

Joan Deaver is a Democrats. Right there is reason enough to kick her out. If you need more reasons, how about her silly attempt to change the language from "Easter Holiday" to "Spring Vacation".

It's a small thing and no one would get the vapors if the wording should be changed as Joan would like. I'll not pass out cold at having to refer to that early spring week long fete as spring vacation. But folks, it's a sign. It's a sign of what planet Deaver's calling in from.

Heed the sign and let's get that woman out of there cause she's a liberal and she hides in Sussex county as if she was queen of the local Tea Party.

Don is running against Brent Wangen, another Republican vying to run against Deaver.

I predict that Don will beat Wangen if for no other reason than Wangen jumped into the race a bit too late.

As for beating Joan Deaver, well it is my hope that Ayotte is able to take her down. I know that Don's been working hard to win the nomination, knocking on doors and attending county council sessions to acquaint himself with the job.

But Deaver, however flaming liberal, is an incumbent and does treat her constituents well, at least as I hear it.

I call a race between Ayotte and Deaver a toss up for now.

As for Christensen and Wilson, I don't think Sam Wilson's going to lose his seat. Sam's been around about forever but he shows signs of becoming part of the elected elite that us heathens in the Tea Party want to oust.

But Sam's got the respect of a lot of the evangelicals here in Sussex county and for the most part he's a nice guy. I'd be surprised if Christensen beats Sam in the primary.

John J. Christensen (R) 513 S. Bedford St., Georgetown DE. 19947 302-249-8694 Date Filed 06/04/2012 Email: johns97voyager@aol.com

One of the tighter and more exciting races locally is the showdown between Joe Booth and Eric Bodenweiser.

THIS race is the stuff political junkees dream of.

First, I'm a friend of Eric's and I have his sign on my lawn.

Which is not to say I had any issues with Joe Booth, the fellow Eric is challenging in the primary for state senator of the 19th senatorial district in Sussex county. That would be my district.

The issue I have mightily against Joe Booth does not involve his skill as a legislator as he's been my state senator for eight years now. Before that he was my representative in Delaware's House.

Eric Bodenweiser almost beat Joe in the last election cycle. Right after all the election hoo-hah was over with ole Joe got himself some kind of public relations job at Sussex Tech.

Talk about impropriety. Or the appearance of same at the least. Further, ole Joe rather sneakily held the announcement of his $60K a year job for Sussex Tech until a week AFTER the last election though it was known well before.

This is exactly the sort of actions we do NOT want the political elites to do. We looked away for a couple of years as we carried this country on our back and next thing you know Joe Biden's son is Delaware State's Attorney and Mike Castle became a Democrat in everything but party affiliation.

No. We want our elected guys to NOT be getting jobs on the public dime, at least while they're in office for God's sake.

Joe Booth showed very bad taste with that little action and here's hoping the voters of the 19th state senatorial district send him packing.

Matthew Opaliski is a fellow I'd love to have on hand during an electrical outage of a few hours. Because I'm a bit of a political junkee and Opaliski knows his politics. Especially politics of the Delaware kind.

Matt is running for state senator from Delaware's 18th senatorial district. He will be running in the Republican primary against the current sitting state senator from that district, Republican Gary Simpson.

Folks, Gary Simpson is a nice guy and a kind grandfather. I know Gary, met him a couple of times.

But this is a guy who doesn't vote for the greater good of average Delawarians although the Wilmington Democrats like Gary right well.

Simpson has voted for the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative, some trumped up form of that liberal nonsense about global warming and a sort of cap and trade nonsensical thing only thing it's gonna do is make Delmarva Power a fortune while possibly doubling your cost of electricity.

In fact Simpson is making a lot of votes the liberals Delaware like that I'm thinking he might be related to Mike Castle.

I say to the voters in Delaware's 18th state senatorial district that it's time to boot out this man who's evidently NOT on your side, judging by his votes. Fortunately for those same voters, Matt Opaliski is registered and will be on the ballot to accept your votes.

Right now I think it's a 50-50 chance that Matt will beat Simpson in the primary. However, Simpson has the incumbent advantage. Simpson's district has been re-adjusted a little bit and he's now not representing a bunch of misguided Lewes liberals.

My goodness, goodness, could we even begin to not mention the most exciting race in Sussex county. This would be the down-to-the-wire campaign of Ernesto Lopez and Glen Urquhart.

Glen ran for the position in America's House of Representatives that was vacated by Mike Castle when he ran for the Senator position vacated by Joe Biden. He did not win but since then Glen's served as Chairman of the Sussex county GOP and by me he's did a fine job.

I think Glen is a perfect Tea Party type to represent the new Delaware state senator district 6. His wife, Angela, is one of the nicest, calmest candidate's wife in this year's primaries.

Which is not to say that Mr. Lopez is not a nice guy because he is. But hey, I've got some real issues with Lopez, beginning with THE MAN ALREADY HAS A JOB WORKING FOR THE STATE!

I'm already a bit tired of these politicos thinking they have a right to a couple of jobs working for the gubmint, witness Joe Booth, so I'm sure not doing to espouse electing someone already working for the state. When asked how he would manage his job working for the University of Delaware, Lopez kind of shrugs and says he'll work it out with the powers that be.

I don't think so.

Lopez' time will come. After this election, which I think Glen Urquhart will win fairly easily, Ernesto needs to get himself involved with the Sussex county GOP (rumor is that Lopez is backed by the Wilmington GOP but I've no proof of this), do some work on the ground, and run for office when's he'll no longer be beholden to TWO Delaware gubmint masters.

Glen for Senate Web Site HERE

Finally, Kevin Wade is one of my favorite people and this year's Kevin's all involved with a very interesting race to replace Delaware aging and somewhat absent-minded Senator Carper.

Now I realize the politicos want to make the rules that they shall hold their elected office forever and ever, even after they're dead.

It's time, folks, for Carper, who oddly only holds telephonic Town Hall Meetings, why is this, to go.

In another happening tidbit about this race, turns out that one Alex Pires, part owner of Dewey Beach's Rusty Rudder and other area enterprises, is ALSO running against Carper. Pires is running as an Independent.

I don't think Pires has a prayer of winning this thing. Frankly I don't think Wade is going to win this contest.

I call this race for Carper but that call is not a happy one.

Wade for Senator HERE

The Intriguing Campaign of Alex Pires and Other Delaware News

Pic of Day

Warm up the tubas and bring out the drums. It's time for another Delaware post, this from an insider into the world of Delaware politics. Who would be…..ME!

Let's begin with the mention that the Sheriff issue continues on and the legislators are determined to get their way. The Sussex county council has fired one of Sheriff Christopher's deputies and is refusing to allow him to hire a replacement for one deputy who left.

The council is exercising its hold on the purse and it's a good strategy, of sorts. EXCEPT there are three out of the total of five council people up for election this year. ALL three now have challengers.

And I should know. I am the campaign finance chair for two of them.

Don Ayotte running to unseat Joan Deaver
Maybe the challengers won't win, it's not easy to unseat an established incumbent. But Sussex county is angry at this council's rather cavalier manner in flipping the citizens the bird over their duly elected Sheriff. If nothing else, having to actually compete in an election should sober them up, get them out into the world to hear the concerns of those they represent, show them that citizens CAN challenge them, that they do not OWN their position.

A detailed, and longish, post about the Sheriff can be read here:

One of the bigger issues of this day, and an issue always on the docket in Sussex county it would seem, involves setting caps and/or requiring justifications for increases in lot rent by owners of manufactured housing parks.

Okay, let's discuss.

A person invests their money in a large swath of land and proceeds to design its use for the renting of individual plots to allow owners of manufactured homes to settle on. The manufactured home park owner is responsible for providing water, septic and other utility access. Snow removal, trash pickup and other services must be provided. Some sort of guard/safety service must be provided, the park should be kept clean, often a community meeting place or swimming pool is provided to the manufactured home owners.

It's really a bad idea for anybody to put their manufactured home on land owned by someone else. This is especially dumb in that Sussex county has a very liberal land use policy and most places allow manufactured homes to be put on plots of land. But those living in manufactured housing often aren't the richest in the surround. Purchase of a plot of land beyond the manufactured home is often not in the budget.

It begins with a modest monthly fee. I worked for an owner of manufactured home parks and at that time, some ten years ago, monthly fees ran around $300 a month. These lot rental fees vary based on amenities offered, location and such, of course.

As salaries for the security guards, as costs for maintaining the grounds, as fees for trash pickup and snow removal increase from year to year, so must the lot fee the owners must charge.

In due course you have a scenario where a little old lady cannot afford her monthly lot fee (or so she says). The situation becomes sticky. Manufactured houses aren't that easy to move even though the concept is that they are movable. Even if moving the manufactured house was possible, where to move it to? The purchase of a private lot on which to place the manufactured home is almost always out of the question. Moving the manufactured home to another park probably won't solve anything. Costs are costs. It costs a certain amount to keep a manufactured housing park working and in shape and monthly lot fees vary little from park to park.

Enter the MHA, also known as the Manufactured Housing Association, mostly a bunch of crybaby communists who found a perfect vehicle to fundamentally transform America as we know it.

So park owners are suddenly the bad guys, how dare they deem to make a profit on grandma who must eat cat food for the cost of the monthly lot fee.

Every year since I've been living in Sussex county there's been an uproar over these manufactured homes. Currently there is an existing fund, contributed into by both the residents and the owner of a manufactured home park. This fund is meant to be used as a means of financial assistance should a manufactured home resident have to be re-located for the very real inability to pay the monthly rental fee.

There's all kinds of rules about who gets this financial assistance, as well as limits to be paid based on the age and condition of the manufactured home.

But the MHA, God bless their dark communist souls, want manufactured home park owners to be tortured, burned at the stake and be forced to provide their land free of charge to the owners of the manufactured homes living on their land.

If a restaurant owner raises the price of hamburger you don't have a bunch of Hamburger Eaters of America demanding relief from the cost of their favored food. IF the grocer charges more for his potatoes, the communists aren't boo-hooing on the TV that they must eat cat food for the potatoes denied them.

Owning a manufactured housing community is a business is what I'm saying here. And while the communists argue that since the manufactured housing residents are in a bit of a bind in that it's not so simple for them to up and move should the monthly lot fee go up beyond their ability to pay, this is nowhere near the reality of it.

Because running a manufactured home park is a business, the owner gains nothing if he prices his residents out of existence. What the communists in the MHA argue is nowhere near what happens in reality.

The reality is that few manufactured housing residents get in so far over their heads they are in danger of being thrown out alongside a country back road. The reality is that manufactured housing park owners work with residents who are in financial straits because it does them little good to throw out a resident, perhaps getting no rent as opposed to less rent than needed. The reality is that the manufactured housing association isn't out there fighting to save those soon to cast aside with no place to live. There is already a law to help those few and far between manufactured housing residents in that situation.

The reality is that the communists in the manufactured housing association just want to control how much a private business person charges for their goods and the restauranteur or grocer or even the private school isn't subject to government control and do not forget, ever, that this silly proposed law requiring manufactured housing park owners to justify their rate increases is nothing but an attempt to insert more socialism into our society.

And just what happens when the manufactured housing park owner gets fed up and the land is sold to, oh I dunno, somebody planning to build a mall on the property? This is exactly the result when un-intelligent people allow control of free market pricing.

Senate bill 205 would have the owners of manufactured housing parks have to justify when their annual rates exceed a threshold. In this case the bill wants justification if the increase goes over the annual CPI-U of the prior year. A panel of "experts" (ie political friends of those currently holding office and a few of the communists in the MHA) would oversee this justification and decide if the proposed lot increase is justified.

Seriously, is this where we want this country to go?

Again, bearing in mind that the uniqueness of this situation is that sometimes a manufactured housing resident gets into a situation where he or she cannot afford lot rent. More often than not the individual cannot afford the lot rent at all, not any minor increase. Whatever, there is already a law in place, already a fund in place, to help these people. Further, like the apartment complex resident suddenly without a place to live for want of rent money, we do have social service departments to deal with this situation.

Do not be fooled by the communists who find an inch and demand millions of miles. Call your representative and tell them to vote AGAINST this bill 205.

Elections, Primaries, and Such

Who in the world is Alex Pires and what the hell is his story?
Alex Pires

I understand that Pires is part-owner of several businesses in the area, including Jimmy's Grill and the Rusty Rudder. He is indeed an upstanding resident of this shore area and goodness knows we've got no great love for Tom Carper.

For Alex Pires is running against Tom Carper. Carper is a Democrat and has been around since Christ was a kid. Carper is a Democrat. Pires is NOT a Republican. There is already a Republican running against Carper. His name is Kevin Wade and while the Delaware Republican party is a bit fractured at times, Wade is respected and supported by Delaware Republicans up and down the coast.

Pires is running against Carper as an Independent and there's the puzzle.

Shop Amazon - Father's Day Gifts

Logic has it that the candidacy of Pires will likely take votes away from Wade and in the end, actually HELP Tom Carper.
Even more intriguing, even surprising, heck a bit amusing, are the interviews Pires gave after his announcement.

I paraphrase "We got the goods on Tom Carper. He's as corrupt as any politician in the senate and we're going to throw everything we know out there."

I did, of course, sit up straight and smile at these words. A politico who's been living on the government teat for all of his life as has Carper (and rumor has it that he's not, ahem, the sharpest knife in the drawer) does have a tendency to slide into side wheeling and dealing that flirts with impropriety if not outright illegal. We need to purge these ingrained politicos out of congress and I'm with Pires.

Kevin Wade
Even odder, Pires' few campaign commercials exhort listeners to vote for him or even vote for his "opponent", Kevin Wade.

Damn. How many political commercials urge viewers/listeners to vote for their opponent?

I suspect that Pires doesn't want to win this election. I think he's using the cover of an actual political campaign, however unlikely it would be for him to get elected, to get out some damning information he's got on Carper. Maybe it wouldn't be fitting for the Republican candidate to put it out there though I admit I can't imagine why not. Maybe Pires is working with Wade to spread the dirt and in the end the goal is to get Wade elected.

Sounds far-fetched and maybe it is. But it's certainly adding some sparkle to yet another boring Delaware senatorial election to elect either a Biden or a Carper.

Three of the Sussex county council people are up for election this year: Mike Vincent, Sam Wilson and Joan Deaver. All three of them have Republican opponents taking them on. Deaver is the only Democrat of the five members of the county council. She's being challenged by Don Ayotte. Sam Wilson is being challenged by John Christensen. I am the campaign treasurer for Ayotte and Christensen.

There once was a time when the Sussex county council was revered locally, the body being very representative of the conservative Sussex county citizenry.

The sheriff issue has somehow changed former conservative council people to suddenly up and take command of the very offices us citizens elect. There's only one thing to do when you're abjectly opposed to the guys holding the elected position.

RUN AGAINST THEM.

Eric Bodenweiser has announced his candidacy against Joe Booth for the Delaware senatorial position of the 19th district. Joe Booth too was once a fine fellow who represented his citizens, which includes me, very well. Then Joe Booth got a job with Sussex Tech watching the grass grow and as conservatives across the fruited plains gripe, suddenly they become RINOS, thye reach ac ross the aisle as they slap those who elected them, they consider the elected position rightfully theirs and any happening do-nothing jobs that come along become their rightful prizes of the office they hold.

It's going to be an interesting year here in the swamps of Delaware. It's not easy to beat an incumbent but Bodenweiser only lost by 120 last time he challenged Booth. It's not unheard of and the natives are restless.

RINOs and moderate Republicans might just get booted out along with their liberal Democratic buddies.

Finally, heh, speaking of elections….it would seem that every Republican ED and RD (electoral district and representative district) committee member in the Republican party is now up for re-election. This is due to the re-districting of Sussex county in the 2010 elections.

Folks have been moving into our wonderful paradise of Sussex county in droves, many from New Jersey and Merryland to avoid their prohibitive taxes. Sussex county now has one new state Senator and new state Representative. There is a 6th senatoral district and a 20th representative district.

Even all the Sussex County Republican party executive committee must go for re-election.

It's a hoot. Below the announcement should any of yon reader want to seek a position. Take your choice, they're all up for grabs.

Just a reminder that June 25th, 2012 at 12 noon is the last date to file for any of the positions (3 tier election) for the Sussex County Executive Committee. The Secretary will be at headquarters until 12 noon on June 25th to receive the filing forms for all the open positions.

The election will take place July 9, 2012 at the Cheer Center, Georgetown, DE. (More information on Elections will be forwarded at a later date).

If you are interested in running for any of the positions please file with the Secretary before the date stated above. I am enclosing the same form that is offered on the Sussex GOP web site that can be used to be sent to the Secretary via e-mail or by Postal Service. All the information on how and where to file is on the form.

Please remember this is a very crucial year for us Republicans in DE to have a well filled Executive Committee and in that way we can help our candidates to win the elections. Please take a few minutes to fill out the enclosed form and send it to the county Secretary, Carol Bodine, winning elections for our candidates will be our reward.

The Politicos Tried to Shoot the Sheriff but Shot Their Own Feet Instead; More Delaware Politics

Pic of Day

It's been a strange couple of weeks and please don't believe I am fooled. The Sussex County Council is determined to stop Sheriff Christopher, whatever it takes.

The Sussex County electorate, however, is not so convinced.

Of course us boobs know that there's issues with Sheriff Christopher and the Sussex County Council. This argument has been part and parcel of the ousting of former state senate candidate Eric Bodenweiser up to a flap up in the Georgetown GOP office that involved kicks to the groin and flying paper.

Sheriff Christopher, for his part, is busy making the rounds to all the GOP meetings he can and other venues and he does quite artfully make his case.

My First Sheriff Post

I've listened to Sheriff Christopher a couple of times and like many Sussex countians, I suppose, I am a bit confused. What I hear the Sheriff requesting is more money to update his force's cars and to better train his deputies. I've been to about three things that had Christopher giving a presentation and on all occasions he asserts that the Sheriff in Delaware has full arrest powers. He then states that he would like to have his deputies get more training for those times when an arrest might be required.

The legislators, however, via two "rulings" by Attorney Generals, state that the Sheriff has NO arrest powers in Delaware.

It's very unclear as to whether Christopher or his deputies have arrested anyone to date, not that the elected guys think us boobs out here in la-la land where we carry this county on our backs, need to know anything.

THERE'S the rub.

All I know is one morning I woke up and a whole bunch of Sussex Republicans, the STATE elected guys, sat down and wrote a whole bunch of new laws changing the Delaware code as concerns the Sheriff. There is also some question as to an impact on the Delaware state constitution that mentions the Sheriff and his duties. The elected guys did NOT change the Delaware constitution but those laws they wrote seem to have de facto changed the Delaware constitution and this makes folks uneasy.

The rumble could be felt throughout the county.

It's not so much that there aren't issues as concerns the Sheriff, we get this. But so far we've only heard the argument from the Sheriff as the elected people can't be bothered.

And goodness knows we understand that oncit the Sheriff was the law guy, dag, we all watched Andy of Mayberry.

What most of us full well understand is it is the Sheriff's job to serve official court documents, to oversee evictions, to be the government representative doing those things that require an authoritarian type of presence.

While Fedex might be able to take over the job of delivering official court summons and such, maybe it's because I worked for the largest property owner in Baltimore city and the Sheriff is a very important fellow to a property owner.

Because, go with me on this, sometimes people do not pay their rent. And a person who rents out their property to others needs a bit more help ridding the non-payer from his or her life than the store owner who can just refuse to give away their product for free.

Evicting people is nasty, nasty business.

I suppose someone could be hired to do the job but I simply can't envision it. And folks getting thrown out of their homes are quite often not happy. I'd think a Sheriff should have the use of a firearm for protection at the least, and a kind of common sense tells me that he should be able to arrest any evicted resident who tries to take matters violently into his or her own hands.

Further, the Sheriff is an ELECTED position. Legislators shouldn't be willy-nilly messing with positions elected by we the people without, at the very least, allowing for an open forum and healthy debate.

The Sussex and Delaware elected folks didn't even try to run it by us the rubes. They sat down and wrote a tome to change the code as concerns the Sheriff's arrest powers when hey, I want to talk about it before embarking on such a drastic action.

Again, I remind, the only guy doing the talking has been Sheriff Christopher.

Now we add a little salt in that this is an election year, an election year following a nasty mid-term that had the rabble-rousers of Sussex county rising up to oust Mike Castle, a Blue Blood Republican who loved to spit in our faces and lie. We also have Obama in the White Hut doing his darndest to dismantle our federal constitution, goodness we've got Supreme Court Justices going overseas and advising other countries NOT to use our constitution and add the sweet cherry topping of Schwartzkopf and his rant about radio talk show listeners a week after a major trumped up attempt to oust conservative favorite Rush Limbaugh and man they got tin ears, every damn one of them has a tin ear.

I hear that the Sussex county council is still diddling with HB290, which they tabled last week in response to a mass rumble of unrest by really irked Sussex countians.

They are the political class they are. They know better than us, they have more inside information, this is not something for us to worry our pretty heads over.

It doesn't matter anymore if they are Democrat or Republican. For a Republican Blue Blood will reach across the aisle with polished fingernails but will rip off the head of any of an ornery base they threatens their power and perks.

They will get their way re the Sheriff and their reward will be a dispirited Sussex county electorate who not only will not get out and help get their fine selves re-elected, what you think we're going to go all out trying to get Mitt Romney elected, a guy we're lukewarm about alread?

Below the response by Democrat County Council Representative Joan Deaver. I am the campaign treasurer for her opponent, for the record:

Dear Friends,
In Delaware the sheriffs in all three counties function as an arm of the court, serving papers and auctioning property. These things could also be done under contract with a private company or directly by County employees.

The County Council has to comply with State law and we have two Delaware Attorney General opinions confirming that the county sheriff has no powers of arrest. Jeff Christopher wants the sheriff to be the ultimate law enforcement official in Delaware. While he pursues his political crusade, misdirects County employees and misuses County cars and equipment it is urgent that we seek help from the General Assembly or in Court.

Update on Run for the New 6th District; Ayotte Runs for Council; Delaware Gossip

Pic of the Day

Ending My Feud With WGMD for Lent
This anecdote, such as it is, is part of a Lenten exercise. For I am to sacrifice something during this Lenten season as my recognizing of the pain Christ suffered as he died for our sins.

The "sacrifice", as I understand it from the various sermons in my church, can't be something that doesn't cause some "pain", some...well...sacrifice. Thus you do not give up hot dogs for Lent if you already hate hot dogs.

Indeed the concept of giving up something is a bit misleading. Though it is perfectly okay to give up something cherished for Lent as part of taking on some of the pain, however miniscule, of Christ's suffering, giving up something is not all you can do to, eh, "qualify".

"Forgiving somebody who has hurt you, forgiving them while wanting nothing back from them, this is a form of sacrifice appropriate for Lent," as I paraphrase my priest's sermon at the beginning of Lent.

There were other options presented and so I broadened my concept of Lenten sacrifice.

It's been over five years now that I've held a deep-seated grudge against an on-air personality of WGMD, a very deep-seated grudge. For Lent, I am going to, as fairly and politely as possible, tell my story and I shall publicly forgive. I expect nothing back from the person in question, who I shall name.

It isn't so much that he and I had a falling out, of sorts. That is not the reason I harbored such dislike for the fellow. I carried a resentment with me for yea many years because I did humbly apologize to him and he never acknowledged my apology, not even to accept it.

Although my original intent at the time of the incident was to do nothing but good. In fact, the day I chanced to phone up the WGMD personality I was full of good spirit, so happy to be part of his radio show, to be in agreement with him, to welcome him, as it were, to Sussex county, as he was new to the air waves at the time.

The subject was, oddly, paper bags.

Bill Colley was new to WGMD and perhaps this is why he was so defensive, I don't know. He was certainly new to me but hey, I liked him, thought he was going to do well, wanted to join him on air, me as the caller, he as the host, both of us in agreement as was my intent.

Bill Colley said that he'd been told by a friend that paper bags were clogging up the landfills.

Oh my goodness, I was absolutely sure that Colley had misspoke. Paper bags compost quite easily. PLASTIC bags, however, were real clogs of the landfills across the fruited plains.

Let me say that I too was somewhat new to Sussex County Delaware at the time, having moved here about a year or so prior. I was absolutely delighted to have discovered this local talk radio station, WGMD. We'd never had such a thing in Anne Arundel county Maryland.

There'd been all sorts of personalities filling that 3-5 pm slot and I was so glad that WGMD finally hired a permanent replacement for the slot. I'd never called up a radio station in my life before that day but after hearing Bill Colley I decided to give it a try.

I dunno, I probably blew it. Today I do call up WGMD now and again but not all that often. I am, however, much better at it. I know to get my thoughts together before making that dial. For sure I know to turn down my radio, nothing will cast you as a boob than trying to talk on air with your radio on in the background. I also know that it's not considered polite to make the radio host look bad.

I probably said it wrong during that call. I mentioned that I was a Backyard Wildlife Habitat Steward, which I am but which probably means nothing to most people. I was so joyous because I thought that this new Bill Colley fellow would be happy to hear from an "expert" such as myself.

I forget what the subject was that day but it was probably something about landfills or such. To this day I believe that Colley made a mistake or misunderstood his friend. Paper bags do not clog landfills. Anybody ever spilled something on a paper bag knows how quickly they disintegrate. Plastic bags, again, are real landfill problems.

I really thought I was helping. I really thought he would be happy that I called. I really thought he'd stop and ask just what a Backyard Wildlife Habitat Steward does, maybe interview me. I was excited.

It happened so fast I didn't know what hit me. Colley ripped me loudly and rudely on the air. He told me I had a lot of nerve trying to make him look bad. I forget what I said, or even I said anything. I know that he and other callers continued to lambaste me on the air even after he'd hung up on me. I know my husband happened to be driving down the road and he heard it all.

My husband thinks I'm 100% right on this and he never takes my side.

Honestly I didn't mean anything bad. But once you get hung up on, what are your choices?

Except, perhaps, maybe you have a Blog, read by one or two people, and finally you get to tell your story.

I wrote an email to Dan Gaffney, WGMD's program director. Dan Gaffney wrote me an email back. There began an email exchange to rival the ages. Dan, for his part, was likely trying to make things right. He'd evidently just hired this Colley guy and didn't want to fire him so soon. I just kept explaining my point of view over and over until Gaffney got kind of silly about it and I was in no mood. Gaffney did apologize profusely for my hurt feelings but I wanted some kind of recognition that I'd done nothing wrong. I even, in desperation, wrote an email to Bill Colley, apologizing for any gaffe I'd committed, that I didn't mean it.

While Dan Gaffney emailed me over and over to distraction, Bill Colley NEVER had the common courtesy to answer my email. THAT is the source of my grievance with WGMD and in particular, Bill Colley. Because I felt like I did the decent thing though I still do not think I'd done anything wrong. But I was, really, truly, I was so very sorry I'd made him mad, that I'd somehow made him feel stupid or whatever he thought I did. I really was. I really was so very sorry. And with such sorrow expressed in a profound apology, he couldn't even bother to answer me? I felt like he was the smallest, tiniest little man on the planet.

I stopped listening to WGMD that day and continued to stop listening to it for almost three years. I listened to Rush Limbaugh over the Internet and never listened to WGMD for any other reason.

Now over the years I've had occasional run-ins...issues with WGMD...all based on that ill-advised phone call so long ago.

My husband listens to WGMD all day. At times I heard the content, couldn't avoid it. Over the years I had some scrapes with the station, one involving my choir director, one on a Blog. I am sure my "issues" with the station sparked my grievance than any sort of real problem.

In addition, well I am somewhat active in politics in this county as the passage of time would see happen. Bill Colley even joined my church for a while.

I absolutely despised the man. If he showed up at a political function that I was at, I got up and walked out. I changed my mass times so I wouldn't have to see him.

I felt like I put myself out there , made myself so vulnerable. And he couldn't answer my letter of apology? Yes, I've been bitter about it for over five years now.

I didn't get into shouting matches with the man, I didn't send him nasty missives, I seldom even talked about him. You judge people on their actions and I believe a man who doesn't respond to a heartfelt apology, even if he never wanted to speak to me again he could have put on an act….I believe a man who can't even do that to be someone I don't want to be around.

I've talked to Bill Colley on the air a couple of times this past year, tentatively, anonymously. I'm betting he doesn't remember me, doesn't know who I am, probably forgot all about that day. I'm pretty sure that Dan Gaffney knows me as our email exchange lasted many hours. But Gaffney really did feel bad about it so my grievance was not with him. Although I kind felt like he should fire that awful Colley guy, maybe.

I don't know if Colley knew it was me calling those few times I got bored and decided to call. Once I actually called him in the middle of the night, in the middle of a hurricane. I really felt sorry for him, having to man the radio mike in the middle of a storm. I admired him a bit for it. But I'm sure he didn't know it was me. I don't think Bill Colley even knows I exist, even to this day.

Anyway, today I grant full forgiveness to Bill Colley. I don't care if he never reads this, I hope he doesn't. Understand here that I STILL think he was horribly wrong not to acknowledge my heartfelt apology.

I will not leave should he be in the room, I might even introduce myself. He can come back to my church and I'll show him around even.

Maybe I'll even listen to WGMD again. I have begun to do so during the early morning Gaffney show as I have the clock radio to wake me up. I call Gaffney oncit in a while. I kind of think Gaffney knows who I am but it's really not important.

I still think I'm in the right with Colley. But I forgive him, I'll accept that he was new to the job and sensitive to looking bad, that maybe I didn't consider how I sounded and came across.

I made another Lenten sacrifice, neither of them great feats I admit. But I feel like both were a sacrifice for me and I ask God to bless me, in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Ghost.

Local GOP Passes Resolution for the Impeachment of Barack OBama
This summary posted by, coincidentally, by Bill Colley
.

. Brigadier General Phil Drew is the former Commander of the 65th Air Division. Prior he used to shoot down Russian made aircraft over the skies of North Vietnam. A mutual friend, Glen Urquhart, today announced for a State Senate seat in Delaware. Just before the formal portion of the program started, the General told me he proposed an Impeachment Resolution during a Monday meeting of the local Republican Party. An excerpted portion reads as follows:

May I suggest the basis of this said resolution should contain:

1. Several quotes from the President where he has outlined his views of the Constitution such as: “it is a document and listing of negative liberties” and “it is old and outdated and “if congress will not act, I will” and etc.

2. Several examples of unconstitutional activities of this President such as the blatant disregard of our Constitution in the Government take over of General Motors & Chrysler; the bail out of Wall Street, the take over of the entire private sector student loan program, not enforcing the Defense of Marriage Act, making recess appointments when there is no Senate Recess and of course the crown jewel of Obama policy, the unconstitutional Obamacare.

3. Conclude with the President’s latest overreach then feeble attempt to walk back his assault our religious liberty.

The resulting conclusion to said resolution should be inclusion in the RNC convention and platform for a call for action by the United States House of Representatives to draft articles of impeachment for the President of the United States.
Man, anybody thinks the national GOP gonna put this resolution to impeach Obama in its platform, I gotta bridge to sell you cheap.  Dag, even here in Sussex County, where the GOP has a little bite, you better be careful what resolutions you go making, witness the sheriff flap.

I was there when this resolution was presented.  I agree with it completely.  Obama's broken his pledge to uphold the constitution plenty of times, the most recent being his in-your-face "recess" appointments.  The fine fellow who made this proposal better watch his back.  The Sussex GOP liable to throw him outta there.

Local Author Tells His Story

I always like to promote local writers when possible, and Orlando Camp's book and the story behind it deserve a big nod.

His book is "The Milford 11" and it's Camp's story about how he and ten other students tried to desegrate Milford High School.

tate Rep. Harvey Kenton (R-Milford); State Rep. Dave Wilson (R-Cedar Creek Hundred); Orlando Camp, author of The Milford Eleven; and State Rep. Jack Peterman (R-Milford) at the Public Archives Building holding copies of Mr. Camp's book.

"Fifty years ago, I could not have stood at this podium.  I would not have been allowed in this building," said Orlando J. Camp, who delivered the featured remarks at a recent event (2/2) at the Delaware Public Archives marking the start of African-American History Month.

Mr. Camp, the author of new book "The Milford Eleven," was one of eleven 10th grade students that were involved in an abortive effort to desegregate Milford High School in 1954.

The attempted integration was in reaction to the unanimous U.S. Supreme Court decision handed down earlier the same year (Brown v. the Board of Education) that found racially-segregated schools to be unconstitutional.

Good luck to Mr. Camp on his book and bravo to his heroism in the era when his action took great courage.

So Here's What Happens When the Democrats Are in Charge

Indeed, from the Caesar Rodney Institute, just a couple of interesting bits of info.  Like taxpayer paid employees getting paid TRIPLE their normal salary in overtime.

But It Gets Better

I'm going on a hunch here that Hertrich Car dealership gave a big contribution to the Delaware Democrat party.  And anybody who thinks Deldot is not the instrument of the Democrat devil, I got ANOTHER bridge to sell you, cheap.

From the News Journal:

When Car Dealer Frederick W. Hertrich III wanted to expand operations along Del. 1 just north of Milford in 2003, he encountered numerous government roadblocks.

The state planning office strongly opposed a commercial rezoning needed to develop the 23-acre plot.

DelDOT had formal policies against new commercial entrances directly onto that section of highway.

And a planned interchange at Thompsonville Road threatened to cut through the heart of the proposed new dealership.

After Hertrich's son had a chance meeting with Gov. Ruth Ann Minner, however, the car dealer's path began to clear.

"He said his dad was having problems because [DelDOT] didn't want him to build. He was having entrance problems," Minner said. "I told him, 'It's a shame this can't be worked out.' "

Records show that it soon was.

Working at Minner's behest, high-level DelDOT staffers set out in 2003 to "push along" the project on land just north of Milford.

Defying state planners, they supported a commercial rezoning of the property. They did not require the traffic-impact study normally required for a large commercial rezoning. They abandoned previously developed plans for an interchange at Thompsonville Road in favor of a more costly design suggested

At every step, DelDOT's deal with the Hertrich project was characterized by private negotiations, public policy overrides and poorly documented concessions and agreements.

Folks, we have got to get two partys back in power in Delaware.  Left to their own devices the Democrats make Hugo Chavez look like a piker.

Another Correction

I reference an alleged gaffe by Delaware Senatorial 6 district primary contender, Ernesto Lopez, in this post below and in another post on this Blog, the link to it does not matter in this correction.

First....my resolve, this is the second big error I've been caught in on this Blog and in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Ghost I shall more thoroughly check my details in the future.  Oncit upon a time maybe two or three people read this Blog but evidently we are now up to nine or ten readers.

At any rate, I provide a link below to the original post where the big gaffe in question was made but want to be sure it is seen by all.  Ernesto Lopez was NOT the subject of a pleading email by the Vice Chair of the NewCastle county Republican party, hence my rant over the audacity of the NCC Vice Chair to insinuate himself into the politics of Sussex County.

It would turn out that the pleading by that same Vice Chair was made, in fact, on behalf of Lopez' opponent, Glen Urquhart.

My apologies to Ernesto Lopez, whose wife I met last night, and his two adorable daughters and I must admit I am very intrigued by the man's character and style.

But we'll be talking more about it in the future.

Now on to Glen Urquhart, whose campaign manager explained to me the reason for those emails.  Seems that the position of NCC Republican Vice Chair of the sender was nothing but coincidental, that this same fellow is in charge of a faith based group.  The email urging support for Glen Urquhart was based on his position as head of THAT organization rather than any affiliation with NCC Republican party.

In keeping with my policy of never erasing my content, I put this explanation at the top of the post that the reader knows there's addendums to the story they might read below.
A Correction

First, to correct the record. On my post concerning the Sheriff and Vance Phillips, I erroneously stated that Pete Schwartzkopf, elected Representative of Delaware's 14th Representative district, was the son of General Schwartzkopf of desert storm fame. I've been told that this information is incorrect. I will be pasting the correction on the original post but want to set the record straight as often as possible.

Some Delaware Specific Information

Second, came across this information and wanted to post it on my Blog under a Delaware post because, well, these are Delaware's elected federal representatives.

Lopez versus Urquhart and the REAL Gracious One

Now let's talk about the two candidates currently running in the Republican primary for the position of Representative of the new 6th Representative district. This new district, coming into existence as a result of the 2010 census, encompasses most of Lewes Delaware on up Route 9 to the outskirts of Georgetown. This is all subject to change for the Democrats in control of these things are hemming and hawing and in general making life difficult for us Republicans in the wilds of Sussex county. The more difficult it is for us to get organized the less likely we'll beat the crap of those Democrat lowlifes driving this state straight to bankruptcy.

Glen Urquhart, currently, until 2/13/12, the Chairman of the Sussex county GOP, is one of the candidates for this new 6th representative district. Urquhart is also the fellow who ran alongside of Christine O'Donnell, Glen running to fill the vacancy that would have been left by Mike Castle had he won the nomination to be a U.S. Senator from Delaware. Delaware, being a tiny state, is one of the few with MORE Senators than it has Representatives.

It would turn out that Castle did lose in his primary bid against COD but Glen lost to Chris Coons, a lousy liberal also busy destroying our country. As Glen likes to brag, he won the vast majority of the electoral districts in this new 6th RD in this bid to become Delaware's only Representative in America's House.

I liked Glen then and I like him now. To be sure I've had some issues with Glen, especially over the ouster of my own RDC, Eric Bodenweiser. Still inquiring minds can disagree with the intelligent moving on. But I like Glen as a person and as a leader. I think he did a great job as Chair of the Sussex GOP. His meetings were always polite, civil and led by the calm hand of Glen.

Last Tuesday night, 1/10/12, I attended a meeting where Glen and his opponent for Representative of Delaware's new district, Ernesto Lopez, gave a 15 minute presentation and engaged in a vigorous question and answer session.

First let me say that I don't think I've come across a more gracious and friendly person than Angela Urquhart. Yes, she's not the candidate, but she regularly attended all campaign gathering during Glen's run for the federal job of Delaware's Representative and she repeats that loyalty and patience during his run for Glen's run for the state Representative of Delaware's new district.

Angela can usually be seen knitting during these campaign type functions and let me admit right now that I do love to crochet and am naturally attracted to another crafter of the yarn. So I sat at Angelia's table and to my delight found her funny, intelligent, rueful, interesting and very much knowledgeable about the political world.

We didn't talk all that much about politics but it was the night of the New Hampshire primary. It was announced at one point that Romney had won that race, at which point Angela looked at me, smiled, and said…"Who would have guessed?"

Which is not to say that Ernesto Lopez' wife is not a fine person but I did not meet her. Lopez has two quite young daughters and point one, make no mistake right now, Lopez is a whole lot younger than Urquhart. Which, again with the exception, is not to say that being the youngest is necessarily an advantage for this position. For Lopez has never won or served in any elected office, he currently has a full time job with the University of Delaware...some might argue that Glen's status as retiree, his lack of affiliation with any state-held position and his political experience gives him a wide edge over Lopez.

In fact I'd argue that exact thing. Not to mention I'd never seen Lopez at any Sussex county GOP meeting ever while Glen, as stated earlier, was Chair of the county party.

Both of the candidates did a very nice job of presenting their fifteen minutes and answered their questions with a terrific affability. Lopez was hectored at one point by some asshole who kept badgering with questions about just what he'd done for charity in his life and other rather silly questions. Finally I had to stand up and demand to be recognized to shut the creep up.

Glen too did a nice job but this does not surprise me. One thing he did keep doing that surprised me was to keep coming out from behind the podium and addressing us without any alien furniture between us. I could hear Glen's campaign manager telling him to avoid standing behind a big podium in a crowd this size, that he tends to make you look distant and far away.

Not a bad notion but I thought Glen looked a bit uncomfortable with that action and it was a bit too obvious a ploy. Or maybe I pay too much attention to politicians and can spot this sort of affectation more than most.

Ernesto on the other hand never once came out from behind the podium. I thought he gave the heckler entirely too much leeway although I suppose he wanted to come off as being polite. For every stupid and irrelevant question the heckler threw at Lopez he smiled very politely, so much so that it seem incongruent with the rudeness then upon.

Politicians, especially Republicans, have some sort of notion that being polite and civil is the quintessential measure of success. Maybe it's because I'm from the land of the pitchfork, Sussex county, that I wish these guys would grow a pair and fight back. Republicans take great pride that they reach across the aisle with shiny polished nails. I would have admired Lopez more if he'd dismissed that heckler as having asked enough questions and pointedly calling on another questioner instead of giving that rude guy a forum for entirely too long. Instead it was we in the audience who had to put the kabosh on that heckler.

As for the content of their speech, lookit, there's not much difference in the beliefs and ideologies of these two candidates. They are Republicans running in Sussex county, enough said.

By me Lopez is entirely too young and inexperienced for this job. He's from New Castle county and this alone is suspect. And let us not forget that gaffe of having the Vice-chair of the New Castle GOP write emails to Sussex Countians on behalf of Lopez. That was a gaffe, read about it here, that was not received kindly,.

Delaware Electricity Rates About to Rise...The Politicos Hope You Won't Notice

When I first moved to Sussex county in 2003 my electrical rates slowly increased upward over a three year period, much more than warranted by the cost of delivering electricity. This was because the local politicians got involved in the complaints about electrical rates and made some deal with the local utilities that had them lowering rates for the voters, raising them up over the pre-determined time span to get them where the utilities said they needed to be.

At that time it was the electric utilities setting their rates, with approval from the bureaucracies of course. That experiment turned into a bit of a disaster in that the gubmint should get out of the way of private business and not have politicians get involved with setting prices to make happy voters.

At that time it was conservatives in Sussex county doing the silly, their logic being that an elderly populace was rapidly living in Sussex and they needed help with wildly rising electrical rates.

Now we have liberals forcing the electrical utilities to raise their rates so that the utilities can begin the stupid task of converting over to the boondoggle called "green energy".

It's a way of taxing us without putting their political hands in our pockets. Because they can't make the electrical utilities go out of business or operate at a loss. Such as known failures like solar energy and windmills cost money and the utilities don't really want to be in that business.

It takes a kind of foxy cleverness to tax people. They might raise the fees for permits, they might increase tolls on the roads. If the politicians come right out and say to Delawarians…"hey we need to have Delmarva Power put up some windmills that we know won't work so you gotta pay more taxes"...well us stupid voters would likely vote out the politicians.

But if we hide it, like letting the utilities raise their rates for this silly green thing that doesn't work, well we'd blame the electric companies now won't we?

Politicians, especially the lying, cheating Democrat Delaware type, make me want to puke.

The Race for the 6th Senatorial District-the Controversy, COD Betrays

CORRECTION

I kind of snarkily repeat a rumor in the text below about Delaware Senatorial 6 district primary contender, Ernesto Lopez, in this post below and in another post on this Blog, the link to it does not matter in this correction.

Christine O'Donnell Betrays Those Who Supported Her

I really don't much care anymore.  I'm too involved with making the Delaware GOP into a more Conservative organization than what it had been.  It's been a battle and there are still Blue Blood elites out there determined to make the party back into a Mike Castle-type fiefdom.   Christine O'Donnell primaried Mike Castle out of there and if for no other reason, I am grateful for that.  I'd sure like for her to have respected the leanings of those who supported her before she went out to endorse Mitt Romney.  COD's base would never have supported Mitt Romney, she knows this.  But Mittens did endorse COD and I suppose it was a return favor.  Mittens needs somebody liked as a Conservative to endorse him, never mind that silly Juan McCain.

If no other hot-head extreme right-winger will summarize for the Delaware GOP and where it's going, allow me.  The Blue Blood need to admit that posing a Democrat as a Republican is not the way to go.  We understand that Delaware is mostly a blue state and this could be considered a methodology.  This only works for so long....if you don't want to admit it out loud Blue Bloods, at least admit it to yourself.  Few of us Sussex County barn burners wake up every day regretting that stupid Chris Coons is now in place of Mike Castle.  At least we KNOW who Coons is, he is not peeing upon our feet and calling it rain.

As for the pitchfork carriers, we likely need to learn a little more compromise, that while our anger at constant betrayal forced many of us seriously off-kilter, most of us want what's best for our county and country.  The Blue Bloods need to stop their superior sniffing and acknowledge.

And it's not like our overhaul of the Sussex GOP has been without turmoil, witness the recent Sheriff and the Councilman fluff.

Finally, it would turn out that both Glen Urquhart and Christine O'Donnell would be, horrors, self-serving politicians.  The angry Sussex countians needs to get this and stop looking for the holy grail.  Mike Castle, I remind the Blue Bloods, was a most perfect fellow who never let political expediency get in front of his fervent principles.  I got a bridge to sell you believe that.

So good luck to Christine.  If she were to run again, which she probably won't, I'd probably vote for her so long as she ran on the same sort of platform as before.  Then, should she betray my vote as Mike Castle did so many times,  I'll vote her outta there, as should have been done long ago with Mike Castle so the Blue Blood Elites should learn.

As for Glen Urquhart, this fellow went on to man the position of Chair of the Sussex County GOP and by me, he did a very good job.  This brings up the flap over the new 6th state senatorial district and the race for same.

I have to smile at the short but acerbic response to COD's Romney endorsement by the local 9-11 Delware Patriots:

We have received emails requesting our position on this endorsement from Christine O'Donnell for Gov. Mitt Romney for President.

Our position is as follows:

The 9-12 Delaware Patriots are not linked with Christine O'Donnell. Her views do not represent those of the 9-12 Delaware Patriots as our members, individually decide who they want to support.

Our mission is to research and educate ourselves and our members to make informed decisions. We may not always agree, but we respect others opinions. As far as the 2012 Presidential Election, our members are split between all the candidates. At our meetings, members discuss the pros and cons of all the candidates in a respectful manner.

The 9-12 Delaware Patriots will not support or endorse any candidate but provides a forum through meetings and newsletters so that members can share information to make informed decisions.

Respectfully,
9-12 Delaware Patriots Board of Directors

All I got to add to this as per my feeling-WHAT THEY SAID!

The Run For the 6th State Senatorial District

It's a totally new district, this 6th state senatorial district, carved out due to the recent census, encompassing an are that includes, in part, the infamous somewhat liberal Lewes, Delaware area.

Glen Urquhart, after what has to arguably be the shortest term as Chair of the Sussex County GOP, has thrown down the gauntlet to run for that job.  Glen ran, to update, to fill the position in America's House of Representatives for the slot that was left open by Mike Castle's run for the senate.  Glen lost by a large percentage, the same percentage as COD lost by though the Blue Bloods want you to believe differently.  New Castle county around Wilmindelphia is greatly populated by Democrats and thieves, though I repeat myself, and what us souther heathans have learned is that the indigent, dull and dumb can vote and so it is.

Even with the wealthy liberals in Lewes it's a fairly simple task for Glen to win this position, what with his name recognition for the Sussex chair and his run for America's House.
Not so fast.

Now I don't want to be spreading rumors but allow me to spread some rumors.  Another candidate has risen from the ashes to challenge the Urquhart candidacy and this candidate, Ernesto Lopez,  is a)from New Castle county oncit and b)a handsome articulate fellow of Latino origin.  Scuttlebutt has it that this challenger was sponsored by the northern Delaware Blue Blood elites as they do not, DO NOT, want to let go of their power.  For as they reach across the aisle with buffed fingernails they will rip off the heads of their own base and poop down their bloody necks should they challenge Blue Blood power.

Okay, let me catch my breath.

As chance would have it, I will be attending a meeting to help form yet another state voting district known as the 20th Representative district.  At that meeting BOTH of these candidates will speak.  I shall listen carefully, I shall be fair, but know now that I lean toward Glen and that's how it is.  I will report back in another Delaware post.

The bigger controversy over this election is, get this, the co-chair of the New Castle party, an idiot burger named John Radell, sent out an email to all Sussex countians urging them to vote for Lopez.  I got a bridge to sell anyone who thinks that rumor about Lopez and his ties to the northern GOP are just rumors.  Cheap bridge, just been renovated.  This is one major reason why I do not trust this guy and take it to the bank, I will quiz him about this at that meeting that I mentioned.

What the hell right does the Vice-Chair of the New Castle county GOP have to be telling Sussex countians who to vote for in their own county?  If nothing illustrates my assertion that these norther Blue Blood Elites think they are better than us, it is this action.

This whole thing has caused quite a ruckous amonst Sussex County, even Kent county, Republicans, check out this thread on Delaware Politics Blog.

Fiskar Recalls Karma

Finally, does any of these new age non-workable Green job types of technology work?  With Delaware knee deep in so much of it.  That nutball wind farm turned out to be unworkable.

This Fiskar Karma can be gotten cheap, only $102,000.  A lot of its parts come from Finland, so much for Delaware jobs.  Now there's a recall, as is happening across the fruited plains with these silly electric cars.

Hey, I'd buy an electric car in a minute assuming a)it was as cheap and convenient to operate as gasoline powered vehicles b) it was safe c)there were widely available ways to re-charge them.

But hey, the gubmint got involved.  Folks, the gubmint has NEVER invented anything and goodness knows gubmint bureaucrats are known worls wide for their innovativeness and creativity.
