Who Loves Kaitlyn?

I didn’t exactly HEAR the following exchange between Kaitlyn and her summer bible school teacher. But it was told to me and it was funny. Later during Kaitlyn’s summer bible school session there would be another incident and Kaitlyn didn’t buy Mom-Mom’s resolution of the matter.

First, the bible school teacher asked Kaitlyn who loved her. Remembering that this is bible school where the expected answer would be that, of course, JESUS loves me, a bible school 101 lesson to young ones like Kaitlyn Mae.

Only Kaitlyn had to think about it and responded firmly and with confidence with a list of just who loved her. “Everybody that knows me,” Kaitlyn said, a child with no dearth of self-confidence.

Of course everybody who knows the child loves her but then I am her grandmother, insert wink here.

The second incident also occurred at Kaitlyn’s summer bible school. It was during their little stage play performed for the parents. Kaitlyn got up to sing her part of the song. She had a partner, a little boy who I better not meet in a dark alley. Because the little boy refused to walk on stage with Kaitlyn as rehearsed and this so hurt Kaitlyn’s feelings that she burst into tears, yes right on stage, and went back to the chairs and herself refused to perform her part.

She was gently nudged back onto the stage by the bible school teacher and via the loud stage whispers of her parents from the audience. Finally Kaitlyn performed her part but we must suppose that not EVERYONE loves Kaitlyn who knows her…at least one little boy in her summer bible school.

Kaitlyn came to spend the weekend with me in late August and I had a fine solution for Kaitlyn and her problem with little (and someday BIG) boys.

“Tell him to GO TO HELL,” I told Kaitlyn, loudly and with a passion.

“No,” Kaitlyn said, shaking her head negative. “That’s a bad word. I can’t say bad words.”

“So call up Mom-Mom and I’ll come down and tell him to GO TO HELL,” I suggested. I clenched my fist and told Kaitlyn that while I was down there I’d introduce his nose to my Mr. Fist.

“No,” Kaitlyn said, smiling because she kind of suspected I was joshing her.

“He don’t want to go on stage with my granddaughter?” I continued. “I’ll punch his nose with this,” I said, waving an angry fist all about.

“No,” Kaitlyn said.

Well goodness. I must think that the child is not a fighter.

Just needs some more time with her Mom-Mom is all.

Kaitlyn attended, at age four, her first political event of her life. It was a crab feast to raise funds for the gubernatorial election of Judge Bill Lee, Republican. I did, of course, teach Kaitlyn the difference between Democrats and Republicans but I kept it short and sweet.

“You never want to be a Democrat when you grow up,” I explained to the child patiently. “Democrats want to take all DVD movies away from little children”.

Hey…it’s political spin, it’s what makes the world go round.

Below some pics of Kaitlyn’s visit this August of 2008 and at the bottom, a short clip of Kaitlyn’s activities at the crab feast.

Political Tidbits-the 2008 Democratic National Convention

Hillary Exits Stage Left

First I must thank FreeRepublic, THIS THREAD for the pics below plus the funny running commentary of those wise posters.

Montage of Clintons from 08 Dem convention

So 8/26/08 was Clinton Night One at the 2008 Democratic National Convention. I must say that Hillary looked great. She wore, improbably, an orange pantsuit. Yet it looked great on her. Her hair and makeup were impeccable. And goodness Chelsea sure is a pretty thing.

As for Hillary’s speech, well, it was a speech. I don’t think anyone could find a single thing wrong with it.

In fact, her speech was almost boilerplate. By me Hillary Clinton handled the evening well, mentioning the Messiah name, Barack Obama, many times and with enthusiasm. I sensed no hidden messages in her speech as so many hinted at. Her speech was just the right time in terms of length, 20 minutes, was animated and had all the right words.

Of course the woman hates Barack Obama. I would too if I were her. Although the loss of the nomination by Hillary is her fault and her fault alone.

Hillary is no manager and she ran her campaign with a heavy, balky hand. She didn’t get her team to work together, she left much to her fine, even-tempered HINO (husband in name only) and his staff. When you think about it, if she can’t guide her campaign how on earth can she guide the country?

Montage from Day 2 08 Dem convention

It was Bill Clinton who stole the night. If the man wasn’t standing with curled lip and eyes filled with tears of joy, he was urging seatmates to stand up to cheer with every verb uttered by Hillary.

It was his very obvious mouthing of the words “I love you” over and over that stole the night. Of course Bill didn’t pantomime those words until he knew the camera was firmly on his handsome mug.

We hear Bill Clinton won’t be in attendance the night Barack gives his speech. This is amazing. Clinton was the Democrats’ last elected president. For him to avoid the nomination speech of his party’s nominee is a huge insult as I see it.

Tonight, 8/27/08 we shall hear from Bill himself and the VP nominee, Joe Biden.

Tune in tomorrow for thoughts, opinions, speculation and acerbic commentary.

Day 1 at the 08 Democratic Convention; Movie Review-"The Clone Wars"

Here's a movie to consider carefully before viewing.

For "The Clone Wars" is a strange creature, an animated "prequel" to the original Star Wars movie.

Two problems with this movie and they are major ones.

Also, day one of the Democratic convention and I've got some opinions about it all, including some hanging boobs.

Movie review header

"The Clone Wars"

First off, the movie begins...it just begins. It begins right in the middle of some sort of conflict and the viewer has not a clue until well into the film.

No long introduction with credits crawling up the screen. I'd chosen this movie because it's animated with a PG rating. I figured my four year old granddaughter would love the movie.

IMDB link for "The Clone Wars "/

clone wars movie

It would turn out that Kaitlyn did enjoy the movie but I am quite sure she had not a single clue as to what was going on. That abrupt start didn't help.

Indeed this movie "ASSumed" that the viewer knew its history. The movie assumed the viewer knew that there is a galaxy far, far away where space battles were constantly ongoing, where heroes fought the dark side and where good always triumphed.

To get even more nuanced about it, the "hero" of this movie was one Anakin Skywalker and I knew, though Kaitlyn surely did not, that this was the Skywalker who eventually went over to the "dark side".

Knowing that the hero of a movie I was watching turned out to be a bad guy in a future sequel made me not quite enjoy the movie as I would have had I only known him as a continuing force of light and good as portrayed in The Clone Wars.

"Star Wars" was a cultural phenomenon when the stories of good versus evil in a mythical galaxy exploded on the movie screens across the fruited plains. The entire story was told via a trilogy of movies and I must say I was never a great fan of this sort of cinematic fantasy. But I was alive and anyone living that hasn't seen at least one of the Star Wars movies and more likely two or more, well they had to be dead.

Or not born, as is the case with Kaitlyn Mae.

Kaitlyn is good about sitting through movies but for this one she was a bit restless. Some popcorn and Skittles calmed her down and for the most part she watched it mesmerized.

annikin skywalker clone wars

I wanted so bad to explain the history of the movie to Kaitlyn, how this Annikin Skywalker was Luke Skywalker's father in a future tale, how Jabba the Hutt returns again, how the "space night club" characters became such funny icons of the culture. I felt an urge to warn Kaitlyn not to get too attached to this Skywalker character, that one day he would become the epitome of evil on the big screen.

Yet Annikin Skywalker was very likeable in this Clone Wars movie as he fought to rescue Jabba the Hutt's son while training a young cadet how to fight evil by his side.

The movie featured intriguing animation that was almost a cross between cartoon and real life. The action was constant, loud and mesmerizing, much like the earlier Star Wars movies. Good does triumph over evil as is always the case.

I think Kaitlyn enjoyed the movie but I know for sure that Kaitlyn did not understand a single thing about that movie, its history and cultural impact long before she was born.

More's the pity.

FOCUS ON MOVIES
========================

"Brokeback Mountain" was heavily hyped as a homosexual film. Which it was. I found the relationship with one of the film's protagonists and his daughter to be more revealing about the character than any same-sex relationship depicted.

Tom Cruise's love is featured in "First Daughter", a film about, well, a first daughter. Only totally not believable.

"Chicken Little" is an animated film about, well something about a sky falling. Kaitlyn Mae watched this movie six times in one weekend. Read why this movie appeals to children so.

This post features reviews of BOTH "Poseidon" movies. The best one chosen might surprise.

He was born a rat but he wanted to be a chef. Here's a review of a charming animated film that will capture the imagination of both your children and ...YOU! Ratatouille

The bees were mad that humans were harvesting and profiting from sales of their honey and they weren't going to take it anymore. It's a cartoon the kids will love but there's a message in the movie that transcends all eras since the Garden of Eden. The Bee Movie

It was almost forty years ago that a record exploded upon the Pop culture that was sung by, ahem, CHIPMUNKS! Indeed my 4 year old granddaughter could not know that her grandmother listened to the feature song in this movie which brings the tale of the three hapless chipmunks to life as but a young girl her own self.

To Kaitlyn Mae, this was a movie about cute little chipmunks who became singing sensations. The tale involves evil record producers, kind but confused songwriters, and a bit of a love story.

Alvin is still as bad as ever.Alvin and the Chipmunks

Here's a review of a cartoon and a fine children's movie that is not a cartoon. The cartoon is "Kung-Fu Panda" and it's a strange tale of an out-of-shape panda bear who is charged with saving his land by becoming a mighty warrior. The film is by Pixar and has the amazing animation that company is known for.

"Nim's Island" is a story of a little girl who also must save her "land", which is an isolated island in the case of Nim.

Nim and her father live on an island named after Nim. When her father gets lost during a routine trip out to sea, Nim struggles to save the island and survive. Finally the little girl contacts the author of her favorite action hero book to please come and help her out. Kaitlyn was four years old at the time we saw "Nim's Island" and she watched the entire non-cartoon movie without wander.

Political Tidbits-Scuttlebutt, Speculation and Sunday Political Talk Show Summaries

I have, so far, enjoyed the 2008 Democratic National Convention more than the finest soap opera or funniest comedy.

No wait! The convention is already that, no?

Heh.

So okay, the worst president in history, Jimmy Carter, must be trotted out as he was a Democrat and this is a Democratic convention after all. But he does not give a speech? Well hey, if Carter were in my political party I'd hide him too.

And we simply must mention Nancy Pelosi and her boobs.

Please understand that I am a woman of some years and I fully understand the effects of gravity on certain body parts, ahem. But Nancy Pelosi, who also made a name for herself this past week with her analysis of Catholic dogma, more on this later, surely could have herself fitted with a decent bra, you think?

Turns out that, according to Bishop Pelosi, St. Augustine believed life began after three months in utero when he never preached any such thing. Then Nancy Pelosi, to the extreme and rightful anger of many Catholics, went on to state that Catholicism considers such a thing a personal decision.

The Catholic church teaches that life begins at conception with NO exceptions. What part of that does Nancy Pelosi not understand?

This is only the most disgusting thing any politician has ever done. There are millions of Catholics in this country and none of them need or want Nancy Pelosi to serve as a fill in for the Pope.

Anything to kill more unborn babies. The Libs....they love abortion, can't get enough dead babies, can't say enough lies, must keep encouraging abortion.. disgusting.

day one montage dem convention 08

So Ted Kennedy shows up. All day it's hyped that Ted fought to get medical permission to fly to Denver and, if we are lucky or so the biased pundits phrased it, he would give a speech . After hearing how much of a struggle it would be for Ted Kennedy to appear in Denver I was certainly surprised at how robust he appeared. Goodness I was expecting him to shuffle on stage, all pale and out of breath, haggard, gaunt and obviously tired.

Instead I hear the same old, same old from that ageing liberal who leaves young women to die at the bottom of creeks while he seeks political cover.

Ted Kennedy was nowhere near the man that the little film feature made him out to be. Ted Kennedy has some serious time waiting for him in Purgatory for one Mary Jo Kopechne. I've not forgotten what he did and I'll never have an ounce of respect for anyone who ever voted for the man or that crowd who cheered this murderer on.

But I'm not evil like Kennedy so I was happy to see him looking well and hope he lives as long as God intended. It's more than he gave to Mary Jo Kopechne.

Ah, Michelle Mabelle.

Talk about your fiction!

She was a Stepford Wife! Her two kids were Stepford Kids!

She once said she became proud of her country only recently and yet, oddly, last night she shouted her love of country while looking as if Martha Stewart herself gave her a makeover.

Michelle never mentioned her attendance at Harvard, very odd. Nor did she mention her career as a spokesperson for a hospital, also odd.

Nope. It was all about Michelle the mother and beloved wife of the Messiah Obama.

She said, and I'm not making this up..."The first thing I think about every morning are my children and the last thing I think about before going to sleep are my children" as I closely paraphrase.

Well go to hell....AS IF SHE'S THE ONLY WOMAN IN AMERICA WHO LOVES HER CHILDREN!

We all love our children out here in la-la land where we carry this country on our back whilst raising the soldiers and citizens of tomorrow, Michelle. And many of us struggle to make ends meet without help of Syrian thugs to buy our homes and we are not married to the Messiah.

The Obamas are trying to convince you and I, yon readers, that THEY ARE JUST LIKE US!

Yeah, right.

Did Michelle Obama's living lie work?

I suppose that the ladies at the beauty parlor who tuned in for a quick peek might have been impressed by Michelle's feminine frock and the enchanting way she tossed her hair for every important verbal point.

She looked to those who watched closely, as if a sophomore in high school playing a lady giving a speech in a school play.

It's all fiction, smoke and mirrors at the Democratic convention this week, ladies and gems.

In a way, it's The Clone Wars redux, only using real politicians who are re-created to be who they want us to THINK they are.

Political Tidbits-Scuttlebutt, Speculation and Sunday Political Talk Show Summaries

The Clintons Will Star in the 2008 DNC Convention But Is This Obama's Idea?

My goodness we have Bill, then Chelsea, then Hillary. If time allows, Barack Obama will have some stage time at the DNC Convention in this year of our Lord 2008.

Barack Obama with no hand over his heart

All last week it had been whispered about that during that meeting between Senator Clinton and Senator Obama at Senator Feinstein's house involved Obama offering Hillary the VP slot on his ticket. It was also whispered that Hillary turned him down flat.

If this is true, what a surprise. For the popular thought was that Hillary had been pounding Barack for the VP slot.

What with Barack's polls falling like autumn leaves I suspect that this sudden embracing of the Clintons is about more than Obama's graciousness.

Barack Obama is simply not going to win this election and let's not forget his fine and friendly wife that America will love as its First Lady. It was Michelle the lovable who stated, in public mind you, that this is the first year she’s loved her country. The first year in her forty plus years of existence I remind. Indeed Michelle is going to go over real well once the American people turn their attention from the delights of summer to the upcoming election.

Hillary with hammer and sickle

I think it is the DNC itself that is having second thoughts about its candidate. While they've been re-thinking this babe-in-the-woods they are about to nominate as their leader the DNC should also re-think that Rubric's cube mess of a primary that caused this nomination of a black/white innocent and his nasty wife.

Just a hunch here, speculation to be believed at the reader's risk, I think the lineup of that convention to burst across the air waves soon enough was done not with Obama's blessing. I think many in the Democratic party are re-thinking their choice and setting up a scene that allows for last minute changes in just who gets nominated.

If you get my drift…

The Russian "Army"-What's the Truth

So while the world was watching the Olympics, a fine compilation of athletes and Chinese duplicity to entertain the planet, the Russian army decides to invade Georgia.

Again we speculate but said speculation is based on a couple of under-the-radar tidbits.

First no less than the President of Georgia himself said that Russia pulled its air force pilots out of pension mothballs to have them fly the planes. Second, what was with Bush giving that speech directly under the CIA sign?

Finally, last week a caller to Rush Limbaugh offered some thoughts on the state of the Russian economy that gave me pause. The caller suggested, based on some native Russians she knows and some personal insights on Russia, that Russia isn't so well off as it would like the world to think.

Sure the center of the former Soviet Union is now in the oil business but Russia is a big country with a big populace. The thugs and thieves of the former Soviet Union have made themselves wealthy while selling off the country's weaponry and nuclear know-how.

Why is Putin pulling pensioners out of retirement to fly airplanes? By this time Russia should have a handsome force of well-educated, well-trained pilots, all paid for by oil profits. And was Bush trying to tell the world something by giving his speech under that CIA sign? Something like the US has Russia's number because our spies are better than ever?

Could that Rush caller, as well as many pundits and Bloggers, have effectively summed it up? Could Vladimir Putin be so desperate to regain the former power of the Soviet Union that he picked the most opportune time to put on a show for the world but it's all he's got...a show?

Which is not to say that Russian actions shouldn't be taken very seriously and the US should not overlook its behavior.

By me, Russia is all bluster and bombast. Soon enough those soldiers in this Russian "army" will be peeled away with promises of vodka and copper pipes, which they are looting as I understand.

Soldiers stealing copper pipe?

It doesn't get any more pathetic than that.

The Sunday Political Talk Shows for 8/17/08

It's coming to the end of the dog days of summer when everybody in D.C. escapes the heat for rest and recreation. This year we have the Olympics with its riveting show of athletic prowess and Chinese deception. Meet the Press wasn't even on the air in my part of the world due to Olympic coverage.

Still the politicos are out and about and they speak their spin.

Before my insightful thoughts, somebody tell me please, WHAT THE HELL IS WITH Mikheil Saakashvili's hair?

Georgian President

Unfortunately I did not tape this past Sunday’s “Late Edition” so I do not have a pic. But please, the man’s hair was…well I don’t know what color it was. There was some red, some blond, some black. He looked as if he was wearing a calico hairpiece.

On “Face the Nation” we had no less a leader than Bill Richardson, current Governor of New Mexico and former Clinton buddy. Richardson lectured us on security and he went on for so long that I almost forgot that pile of top secret documents found under the copying machine at the security agency he once led. Of course we all keep our top secret documents under the copy machine, don’t we?

Two possible VP candidates, Tim Pawlenty for the Republicans and Evan Bayh for the Democrats, showed up to debate on “Face the Nation”.

I’m not making this up. Evan Bayh, a man who once held a modicum of the nation’s respect, actually said that had we (meaning the United States) listened to Barack we would have dealt with Russia long ago and wouldn’t be facing this crisis now.

Go with me here…I remember Reverend Wright, yes I do. I also remember a whole bunch of other radical friends of Obama. I sure remember Obama telling us to inflate our tires, goodness such wisdom is priceless from a future president.

I remember that Obama had a Syrian friend who’s being prosecuted for bribery and such, Tony Rezko I believe. I also recall William Ayres, a fine fellow who liked to throw bombs and the Pentagon and FBI, a friend of Obama’s, yes indeed.

But I don’t recall Obama EVER saying a damn word about Georgia, Russia or that part of the world. Does Evan Bayh really think we are that stupid?

I nominate Evan Bayh for Obama’s VP for having the total lack of pride required to sit in public and tell us that we should have listened to Obama and this whole Russian thing would not be occurring even as we read.

Heh.

John Edwards...Just How Stupid Does He Think We Are?

It's the dream of a political junkie. A former VP candidate and potential presidential nominee for a major political party, in this case as it is so often, the Democratic party, has an affair with a woman who is not his cancer-stricken wife.

Goodness knows we must assume Edwards knows where babies come from as he had four other children with his spouse, such an old-fashioned concept. So why did have to make her pregnant?

I do not believe it was an accident.

At any rate, to my continuing amusement and guffaws, now John Edwards tells us that the baby cannot be his, that the "timing" is off. And to prove his lie he gets that wonderful husband-stealing mistress of his to publicly deny any DNA test on her baby. And oh what a weird one this Rielle Hunter is. Her father liked to kill horses and her father-in-law was the prosecutor for the Jonbenet Ramsey case.

Mr. Edwards' political career is over but never mind, Edwards does not think so. By me I hope he continues to pursue an elected position. I have been greatly entertained.

FOCUS ON POLITICAL TIDBITS
==========================
With each entry into Political Tidbits a little bit of history is recorded. So okay, maybe the two to three people a day who read this Blog would not be considered historians of note but I say a review of the past as recorded by the folks...which would be me, can reveal a lot about the culture of an era.

With a mind to my future generations who should read this online journal, I submit the following as posts of note.

Jimmy Carter was the worst president of the United States. Pay no attention to the men behind the curtains who would change history with tales of this American Man of LaMancha who charged at windmills in a misguided quest to fatten his own private diplomacy firm.

I lived through Carter's presidency and that makes me as knowledgeable as the mighty historians as to how life was with a "misery index" that was gauged ever day.

The picture on this Blog post of President Bush really upset Fox's Bill O'Reilly. Of course the pic that upset O'Reilly had Senator Joe Lieberman in the screen...well check it out for yourselves.

They say we all have a twin on the planet and I've found Nancy Pelosi's . Indeed, and Pelosi's twin was too a famous female and was too a bit of a dim bulb.

She tried to make the now dead Tookie Williams look like a teddy bear of a man although he was a cold-blooded murderer and gang leader. Here's a Blog record of Tookie's girlfriend's run for Governor of California.

Life's Pieces

The days fly by and something happens that I think I might Drivel and then next thing you know, it's old news and I didn't say a word. They tell me it won't get better, either; the days just go faster.

So here are a couple of happenings that got missed in the rush.

I planted poppies. The wild orange ones growing by the roadway shouted at me every day on my way home from work. "Look!" they cried. "We can grow anywhere." Eventually I listened and, since I had a late start, I got a "pony pack" from the local nursery. (Why do they call them pony packs? I don't have a horse.)

I cradled the half-grown poppies like my own lost children, and tenderly planted them in a patch I'd painfully cleared by the front door. I watered them at planting, and then every other day after that. The weather hadn't yet hit the 100s by then, and the plants were doing well. Each day I'd come home and anxiously check out my darlings, watching for that first bud like a mother praying for grandchildren.

Gopher and poppies

And one day, a miracle happened. A single wrapped orange bud appeared, at the top of a fairly long stalk. Over the course of two days, it unwrapped itself and waved at the sun, tucking itself soundly to bed each night. On the third day, it crumbled and fell apart, but I didn't weep.

For I had a bunch of blossoms. Almost all my plants survived and bloomed, and once that first bud shown forth in glorious vibrant orange, an army of them followed. Each day I came home and marveled over my flowers. The poppies had bloomed for me; for me, who has no green thumb.

Then one day I came home and found one of my poppy plants lying on the ground, wilting away. The ground was dry, but I knew I hadn't forgotten to water them on schedule. Still, perhaps water would revive it. The ones around it were ... fine ... but ... wasn't there one here? In this bare spot? I could have sworn there was a plant with five or six flowers on it, right there. I must be getting old.

I went into the house and did the evening chores. I couldn't water my darlings until the sun was off them, so I planned on going back out around 7pm. It was a bit before 7 when I went back out. I got the hose, turned it on, carefully monitored the temperature of the water until all the hose-bound hot water was gone. Then I turned to water my wilting baby ... and ... it was gone, too. Now two blank patches stared back at me like the back of that bald man's head at the
theatre. Where had my baby gone?

Frantically I searched the poppy patch. Surely there must be traces, a body, leftover petals... but there was nothing; no sign that my two missing poppies had ever existed. I agonized over the mystery for several hours, and then called a friend to talk about my agony.

She promptly put me out of my misery. "You have a gopher," she said.

Well, yes. I likely have several; they make piles in the lawn just about every day. Since our "lawn" is Bermuda, I hadn't worried about it.

"Apparently they like poppies. They're sucking them underground like spaghetti noodles."

Urk. So we're at war with the gophers. I looked into options but am trying to get rid of them without poisons (poisoning is such a nasty way to die) and I have one of those vibrating noise-makers driven into the ground by my poppies. We're on day twelve, and the annoyance factor should be climbing for my little burrowing pests. We'll see if it works. If I find that I can drive them out, I'll get some more of those things and drive the gophers to the neighbor's house. (The one I don't like.)

Another of life's pieces is that I got a perm last Tuesday. Harry likes my hair to curl, and while I like it the way it naturally falls, every ten or fourteen years I get a perm for him, and it's his lucky year.

I got a bit trimmed off the ends, and Melanie (the same hairdresser from Drivel: Shorn) gave me what she calls a "spiral curl." If Shirley Temple was 47 and a bit gray, she'd be me. I'm not used to it yet but I think it's okay.

The one who didn't like it was ... no, not Harry (thank goodness) ...it was Kona. Apparently cats are very visual creatures.

Bounty was fine with it. He met me at the door with wiggles and a smiling face, and though his nose twitched a time or two and he sneezed thrice, he accepted me with good grace. The cat waited for Bounty to greet me and then came toward me, tail high. (This is our daily ritual; first dog, then cat.)

About five feet away, she stopped and the tail went down. She gazed searchingly into my face, raised her head, nose working. Then her tail poofed out to about three times its normal size and she fled.

No way was she coming close to that hair.

It took me half an hour of persuasion to convince her I hadn't been eaten by Shirley Temple. So, I guess the hair isn't staying forever. When the perm falls out on its own, I'll be back to straight hair, and Harry will have to wait another ten to fourteen years.

Joke(s) of the Week
A man and a woman were having dinner in a fine restaurant. Their waitress, taking another order at a table a few paces away noticed that the man was slowly sliding down his chair and under the table, with the woman acting unconcerned.

The waitress watched as the man slid all the way down his chair and out of sight under the table. Still, the woman dining across from him appeared calm and unruffled, apparently unaware that her dining companion had disappeared.

After the waitress finished taking the order, she came over to the table and said to the woman, "Pardon me, ma'am, but I think your husband just slid under the table."

The woman calmly looked up at her and replied firmly, "No he didn't.......
He just walked in the door."

NEW!! We take a visit to the gardens during this growing season. We have a pic and a video of a baby rabbit. Okay, so it's not a movie of legend, it is cute.

The gardens grow wonderfully but we have issues with the growth. For a jungle does not a garden make.

I received a most wonderful gift for my recent birthday and I must say, God Bless America. Because with just a tap on the screen I can get anywhere in my care. A great find for the navigationally challenged.

Kaitlyn and I saw the movie “Space Chimps” and it was fun, it was neat, it was just the ticket for a hot summer day.

NEW!! Rob Kissel was murdered. Only we know who murdered him; it was that nut of a wife of his. Seems she wanted the local blue collar cable guy who must have been dragging the ground if you get my drift. But who killed Andrew, Rob’s brother?

Joe McGinnis dwells on Rob Kissel in this True Crime book “Never Enough”. Perhaps McGinnis will regale us True Crime buffs with a book about Andrew Kissel, a loser if ever there was one.

And as you read one “Gabby” Moore burns in agony in the fires of hell. For this man, a nut who actually taught discipline in the form of sports for the young, got himself so obsessed with a woman that all rationality left the man. The result is one death of a father of two, a kind, gentle Morris Blankenberger, as well as the death of Gabby himself. But THAT couldn’t have happened to a nicer fellow.

Here’s a review of Ann Rule’s “A Fever in the Heart”.

Finally, just for fun, we visit my community’s flea market.

Most remarkable, I sold more of my own books in my own driveway than I ever did in the biggest of venues.

NEW!! Time to get gussied up and go out to celebrate.

Guest writer Michelle regales us with tales of opera phantoms and I give a follow up review on a restaurant I reviewed a couple of years ago.

Well it was a gift from me to my husband and husband, well he likes to stick with the tried and true.

Thus Rehoboth Beach's "Jake's Seafood" gets a repeat visit by my wise reviewing self.

Some things were better. Some things got worse.

No bread with dinner?

NEW!! Two True Crime book reviews here.
One is a very personal, almost painful review. For it was this Blogger who originally was scheduled to write the story of the very troubled Lisa Montgomery, a woman who cold-bloodedly killed a young mother and ripped her unborn baby from her body.

A very handsome and talented M.William Phelps wrote the story instead, with a minimum of help from me. I did, however, know a few members of Lisa Montgomery’s family and this gave me an insight into how Phelps wrote the book, the skewed points of view within the book’s covers and the very, very wrong title for the book titled “Murder in the Heartland”.

The other book review involved this Blogger again in a fashion that surprised me. For under my “True Crime” headers I’d written about the very fine Barton Corbin and even received an insightful and thankful email from Jennifer Corbin’s father for my blogging activity in helping to keep this story alive.

Because Barton Corbin had the worst luck of most any man on earth.

He fell in love, even married, women who seemed to commit suicide all around him.

By Ann Rule, we review “Too Late to Say Goodbye”.

NEW-Since I've discovered WABC.com I listen to them all. No longer confined to the local yokels I can now hear Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, Laura Ingraham (where the hell IS she?), Mark Levin, Tammy Bruce, Curtis Sliwa, Don Imus, and Bruce Cunningham.

Rush is, of course, the greatest, but he has one big glaring issue as I see it and at times, it gets old.

Some of them have horrific lisps, some live decadent lifestyles, some have good reason to dislike McCain and one appears to have defected to Fox News.

With pics and opinions.

NEW-Loving My Heart-It's been six weeks since my quadruple coronary bypass. Time to return to the Cardiologist; time for my first post-op EKG.

Why is my EKG still bad and what is a negative T-wave? Why can't TWO doctors decide on my prescription drugs? Why aren't my surgical wounds handily healed and ready for moving on?

A pic of my new Delaware driver’s license to go with my new heart.

NEW-TWO guest writers today. Michelle writes of IRS forms and IRS bureaucrats. Heather writes of parental issues and our subtle and sometimes not-so-subtle messages we send to our children.

A hilarious pic of the day.

NEW-Two New Book Reviews and an Update on an old one....

My normal genre is True Crime but I stop to read a story about my favorite group during my adolescense...The Beatles!

It's "Magical Mystery Tour" by Tony Bramwell and catch this review for an overview of what Bramwell tells us about the Beatles, their loves, their lives, the drugs, the sex.

I do review one True Crime, "Missing:...The Oregon City Girls" by Linda O'Neal, Philip Tennyson and Rick Watson. Here's the frustrating story of the murder and investigation of two young girls killed by the hand of one evil man. An evil man who, even though right in the middle of it all, investigators could not find for the noses on their faces.

NEW-Two visits by Kaitlyn covered on this post.

It was the visit in early June of 2008 that taught me that Kaitlyn was a diplomat good enough to rival the best in the U.S. State Department.

NEW-Two movie reviews. One is "Nim's Island", non-animated but a good story that kept a four-year-old entranced for the duration.

The other is "Kung-Fu Panda", a Dreamworks animated film that was funny, exciting, bold, loud and beloved by that same four-year old. With plenty of pics.

NEW-Four weeks after quadruple coronary bypass and with THAT story told, time to pay attention to things that bring about an upbeat attitude. Not to mention an emotion so strong that it equates to nothing less than what life is all about and the joy of being able to live it.

First, the state bird of Georgia decided to build a nest in my hedge roses. I was just so honored. We've got pics of both the hedge roses what took over the world and the Brown Thrasher which so availed itself of that thorny bush.

Second, a video garden tour. My gardens won't win the prizes from Better Homes and Gardens but I built it with plantings from the old homestead and new native plants. This year, the fifth year of my handiwork, it looks right nice.

There's also plenty of garden pics for those without video capability.

NEW-Posted 5/31/08-Loving My Heart-While the medicos bombard patients with all sorts of information BEFORE they go into the hospital and of course while they are IN the hospital, it was after I was sent home with wounds all over my body that I realized how very little about the turmoil and tribulations of my recovery to come.

Here, in this final chapter in the tale of an ordinary woman's life turned upside down from the sudden diagnosis of a very distressed heart (with links to the first three parts of the story) I compose my own personal list about recovering from open heart surgery, all while it is fresh in my memory and even as my wounds hurt still from just a whisper of air upon them.

First thing, find every piece of clothes with buttons down the front and start from there. Read the rest in the post.

NEW-Posted 5/28/08-Loving My Heart-Quadruple Coronary Bypass Surgery and the Best Hospital Around for Such a Procedure
How precious the time span between normalcy and being sliced apart. Then the chest is split, the legs plundered and pain becomes the norm. A chapter in the saga of a quadruple coronary bypass.

The operation, the aftermath, the letter to the hospital Board of Directors

NEW-Posted 5/26/08-Loving My Heart-Against Medical Advice
Here's the second chapter in my story of a heart in pain.

For the stress test in the Cardiologist's office almost killed me. I ended up in the hospital. Another Cardiac specialist declared my heart in worse shape than Vice President Dick Cheney's.

I had to take my health care into my own hands.
