2006 Year in Review-Book Reviews, Kaitlyn, Delaware, Guest Writer

The year 2006 in review for a lot of subjects in this Blog Post.

First, plenty of Book Reviews, including "Heart Full of Lies", "Bitter Harvest", "Every Breath You Take" by Ann Rule.

A Guest Writer compilation included as well and we have microwaved teddy bears, dogs lost and Honda Hybrids.

Of course the Blog's namesake, Kaitlyn Mae, got a year older this past year and we've got documentation of her hilarious career choice now that she's all of three years old, her Halloween kitty costume and her first overnight visit to Mom Mom.

Finally, some Delaware posts including a review of a local theater's presentation of "It's a Wonderful Life" and a restaurant review for "Jake's Seafood".

Much more.

Quote of the Day
Classic Quotes by John Greenleaf Whittier (1807-1892) American Poet

All the windows of my heart I open to the day.
--------------------
An ashen memory in its stead.
--------------------
As a small businessperson, you have no greater leverage than the truth.
--------------------
Before me, even as behind, God is, and all is well.
--------------------
For all sad words of tongue and pen, the saddest are those 'It might have been.'

Windowsill Celery Hearts

Grow celery hearts on your windowsill this winter. It's easy and they're pretty and delicious. Next time you buy a stalk of celery, cut the heel off about an inch from the bottom. That is, cut across the stalk so you have a crosswise slice off the end. Then do what we used to do with avocado pits - stick a few toothpicks in the side, fill a glass almost to the top with water, and rest the celery heel with toothpicks on the rim of the glass so that the bottom of the heel is just touching the water. Keep the water at that level, and after a week or so, you'll have little celery hearts sprouting from the middle of the heel. They keep sprouting for weeks.

  • Book Reviews: "Irristible Impulse", "Every Breath You Take"

  • Two True Crime Book Reviews as the library beckoned.

One involves a wealthy Brit who murdered and beheaded his American wife.

The other is an Ann Rule novel, "Every Breath You Take".

  • Ann Rule-"Evidence of Love"

  • Here's a Book Review of a very intriguing True Crime and a well-written one to boot.

Betty Gore was hacked to death with an axe. Many of the bloody blows were delivered AFTER Betty was dead.

Yet her murder was ruled "self-defense".

  • TWO Ann Rule Books

  • Here's TWO book reviews for two great books.

By the mistress of True Crime, Ann Rule, or course.

In "Bitter Harvest" we have a mother who burns her children a live.

In "Heart Full of Lives" we have a woman who murders her husband as he sleeps.

    Two Ann Rule Books

Both women were very sucessful, well-traveled. One was a doctor, the other a photographer and writer. Both women were wealthy and SHOULD have been extremely happy with their lives.

Ann Rule does an amazing job with these tales of True Crime.

  • Mike Wallace and Amber Frey

  • Here's TWO Book Reviews.

One is by Amber Frey of Scott Peterson fame.

The other is by Mike Wallace of "60 Minutes Fame".

One was okay. The other was a total indulgence of a dishonest has-been.

It's Amber's book which is way better than blow-dried anchorman Wallace.

  • Carlton Stowers-"Open Secrets"

  • Review. The book is "Open Secrets" by Carlton Stowers.

Joy Aylor was a real doozy of a lady. Beautiful, monied and priveleged, the woman cavalierly contracted to have people around her murdered if they annoyed her.

This book is about the endless attempts by authorities to actually TRACK the lovely Ms. Aylor as she travelled around the world to avoid her justice.

Joy Aylor was a real pip and read the review why it was what was at the back of the book that was the real surprise.

  • Delaware's Ferris Wharton

We re-visited Delaware's Big Fish Grill and while the food's still good, there's one major problem with this eatery that will keep us away from now on.

And a look into those local Delaware races, including son of Senator Joe Biden's bid for Attorney General against the Thomas Capano prosecutor.

Beau Biden has NEVER prosecuted a criminal case; his main qualification for the office would seem is being the son of a loud-mouthed Senator.

And you'll never guess who's endorsing Beau Biden.
